Tom Selleck had an AB for the Tigers in a spring training game once while researching a film. He struck out, but had a foul ball or two as well. Would love to find that footage again.
Dude..... who's your dad? If it's Matt Nokes I'm gonna freak out... my favorite player ever. No matter what, it's awesome your dad was a Tiger during a great era. Be proud man! I'd never heard the "Button" thing before....
good stuff man. i got to see Sellecks plate appearance in spring training for the Tigers. i think he struck out against Rob Dibble but he still made good contact with a few pitches that were fouled off. Not sure if he had any more at bats that year but it was cool to see.
Two of the Best. I can't believe Whitaker isn't in the Hall of Fame. Clearly I grew up a Detroit fan, but give him credit. An All-star who started and finished his (20 year!!) career on the same team. He's the kind of player kids could look up to.
Really? The same players? Then Trammell must have pretty dumb to start Jason Johnson and Mike Maroth 67 times -- maybe he just couldn't find Kenny Rogers and Justin Verlander!
I remember watching that episode the night originally aired... Tom Selleck is a real Tigers Fan!!! I got to meet Alan Trammell when he was still playing for Detroit, he signed a new Official MLB Baseball right on the "Sweet Spot" for me... I still have it. Thanks for posting... David
geez, how many brew did he sip that night? his favorite team and he can't even recognize the middle infield when they're sitting two feet from him...PORNSTACHE!!!!!!!
Those guys were awesome. It's ridiculous that Trammell isn't in the Hall of Fame, and even more ridiculous that Whitaker fell off in his first year of eligibility.
It's really a three way tie for the worst acting in this scene.

Does everyone forget the "Diff'rent Strokes" episode with none other than Lance Parrish?

@TwinCityKillaz Didn't know that...Parrish was/is really underrated.

While I love this scene it is pretty bad. I mean Magnum would have recognized the faces of the Detroit Tigers if he was such a big Tigers fan.

The stadium will always be "TIGER STADIUM" at Michigan and Trumbull. Comerica Park in downtown, UGGGGGGHHHHH.

Magnum must have been bombed. How would he not recognize Tram and Sweet Lou? Higgins would never make that mistake...

Good article on Whitaker's Hall of Fame snubbery on CutFour.com.

This scene really stretched credibility.
No self-respecting Tiger fan would fail to recognize the greatest double-play duo in history.

@TheoIsTheGreatest Agreed, but that was what made the scene so much greater.

Not only do both of them deserve to be in the HOF, but Darrell should be in as well imo

Love me some Trammell, and love me some Tigers, but I will never forgive them for setting him up to fail as manager just to sell some tickets.
Disgrace that he isn't in the hall yet.
