  • its almost as big as she is!!

  • @tait002 ....fair competition then :D

  • i was waiting for it to come back alive and eat the guy =( you let me down halibuty fishy

  • 2007 Kodiak Island Adventures

    Kodiak Alaska

  • That must be over 800 pound

  • I understand conservation, but I also understand p.e.t.a. - people eating tasty animals. So if you complain about this big girl being harvested, be thankful she is being shared with multiple friends, families, stories etc. Her story will help others understand responsible fishing. Just remember to share the wealth when you decide to keep a big one!

  • I'd throw out everything in my big, stand-up freezer just to put all that Halibut in there. It would take a Swordfish to repeat the process

  • I have caught halibut all my life-one thing that is true is that the big ones dont taste nearly as good as the smaller ones, so why not let them go? A fish like this will produce thousands off offspring so why not harvest the smaller ones that are not yet sexually mature? I know its easier said than done but we all need to take some responsibility when it comes to conservation. There's a lot of videos on here of taking big fish but not many of letting them go. I'm just saying......

  • @wunderbank Big ones can net you big derby bucks.

  • That piece of halibut is good enough for Jehovah.

  • wooooow that's a huge halibut wheeeeeeew i miss working in alaska.

  • I think all of you cry babies that say it should of been thrown back should shut the f@$?up it's one fish who gives a fuck your just a bunch of pencil pushing fags that sit on your ass all day and think of something to cry about so maby you should just shut the fuck up and stop your fucking crying and don't forget to go fuck yourselves to

  • @fishhern wow you are awfully mad? someone not getting any from their husband?!

  • omg people no shit a bigger fuckin halibut is better then a small halibut -_- which would u rather keep a 5 pound halibut or a fuckin 400 pund halibut. more fillets n shit fack man. Frewcc : yah man delicious fuck the other fuckers!! userunknown77 dam right nintendude 1986 dam right!! all u other fuckers out there that think they shud release 400 pound halibuts are dumb shits

  • doesnt matter what any idiot says, Still makes great fish and chips.

  • what had more weight the halibut or the fat pig reeling in the fish, they should of shot her in the head, stuck a gaffe in her

  • @GiganteAlbert The reason they're not huge anymore is because of people killing all the big ones.

  • That's 376lbs of wasted fish that's gonna taste like crap. 4 million eggs that will never hatch, and one prime specimen removed from the gene pool.

  • @TheSkatingforlife sounds like your life

  • @TheSkatingforlife fuck you halibut is good and there is a lot more halibut in sea and im sure youve never been fishing because your scared if you hold the fish it will bite you!so shut up you little bitch!

  • thats a nice halibut and it is over 200. i love deep sea fishing

  • They aren't even a good eating fish when they're that big. A good captain would of talked the client into releasing it. It's a female and is carrying thousand of eggs.

  • @kpkalenze

jesus christ, it gets annoying after awile when people keep saying "release the big ones, what the fuck were you thinking, wow what a waste" Everyone knows this is the case but often times, when you catch a fish like this, in the moment, the last thing going through your mind is to release it. Big halibut taste great too. the flakes are bigger but they still taste like halibut... fuck

  • thats a monster!!!!!!ruuuun!

  • howmuch does it weigh?

  • That thing is beautiful. It makes me hungry.

  • and, after gutting it, the stomach and gills are really good bait...they go crazy for it. and octopus

  • yeah...thats not even 200, been commercial fishin couple years n caught plenny bigger than that

  • hahaha..... not even 200? wow dude better get ur eyes checked.

  • oh my god its a barn door lmfao

  • looks about the size of my 150

  • do they eat squid??? wat best to catch them with?

  • they eat squid and 2inch bait fish

  • i use squid never catched dem lol

  • yeah they eat squid but i have had the best luck using sardines on a bounce ball rig. I use this in socal

  • It weighed 376lbs, Kodiak Alaska

  • "that might be 400!"

    lol

  • little one...

    less than 300 lb

    better luck next time ..

    woof..

  • thats like twice as big as the last one i caught. halibut are rly good.

  • a 6 year old just recently caught a 138lb halibut its on yahoo news its impressive just like this catch

  • nice catch

  • Blackmailman-Looks like geocgeo laughed at the comment. you made asshole.

  • These comments are a little bit fishy.

  • I'm as scared as much as a killer whale would be of a guppy.

  • poo poo

  • kinagirl07 when can we go fishing???

  • This fish could have been unhooked with a Tbar and released, the stupid fucking customer.

  • its delicious fuck you

  • but then you couldn't eat it! all 400 punds of it!

    yum :)

  • what size is good for eating ?

  • 8-40 kg.

  • Harpoon or shoot it? Maybe you guys do that but really, a big halibut like that usually is pretty docile. Rifle....commercial fishermen do not take fish under 17.3 lbs live weight, YOU on the other hand can keep the tiny ones. Walking the docks in Alaska one can see charter boats and sport fishermen (not the same thing) come in with baby halibut all the time. Your last sentence really shows what caliber people the charter industry are. Nice choice of words.

  • im with riflechinagirl u guys dont understand think

  • Oh, and more to that, its ONE fish. What about the commercial fishermen who kill hundreds of ten lbs fish? Just so they can fill their quota with the 60lbs and up? keep your fucking mouth shut unless you know what your talking about, and go back to wherever the fuck you came from.

  • It was 376LBS. I can understand that some of you might not think that they should have kept the fish; but it was not the captains choice, I would know, hes my dad! Its a charter boat and she was a customer who wanted to keep her fish. So dont bash my dad. I do think that it is pointless to keep a halibut of that size, they taste horrible and yes they are usually females.

  • well how much did it end up weighing?!

  • shoulda let it go. ones that big taste like trash anyway. the bigger ones are the fish breeding.

  • Yeah, they should have let it go.

Its already caught on camera. Stupid captain been fishin for 24yrs but dont know nothin bout saving the sea.

  • its fun to keep a big one every now and then though. that fish might go 200

  • Sad... anything over 100# is guaranteed to be a breeding female, and taking them only reducing the numbers of eggs in the water. More and more big fish are being taken with the only result being less fish in the future. Besides, the 25-35# fish taste better anyways!

  • damn thats huge, i wanna catch one

  • wow that's a fish i wanna get 1 of that, are they only out deep sea ?

  • idk whos bigger the helibut or the lady..

  • i think the world record is on 356 kg/poungs i think its round 600-700lbs or some thing;P but the fish on the film was a great one good work:P

  • i've seen bigger even though that is a big fish the one i saw my stepdad caught it was 328 lbs.

  • yeah well my dad caught a 402 lbs one fuckers lol

  • 376lbs

  • 376lbs

  • That is cool. Huge dang fish!!

  • hah i don't think it's the cameras, it might be that he doesn't want to get killed

  • Very nice fish and the water there is like glass! With my experience of Alaskan halibut fishing, the really big halibut don't actually taste all that well BUT are great for trophies! The chickens taste the best!

  • what a fish great video and nice job!

  • holy halibut!

  • HELL OF A JOB Bringing that beast in; I am not sure that i could even hang on to the rod; GREAT VIDEO....CHeers

  • Wow you must be a pro. Using that tiny ass rod catching such a big fish..=.=

  • those "tiny" rods are the stiffest most strongest rods that anyone makes.. its rated like 50-100lbs or even more. graphite/glass composite.
