there are both amazing. Mariah has a better voice and i like "most" of her music...her new stuff is a bit mehh. Now one shits on Aaliyah though. her voice was more mellow i will say that.
I always did love aaliyah's low notes. They are so beautiful and have such a great tone. Mariah of course does too. But, I say Aaliyah notes are have better tone quality.
@youngmoneyrealist05 Actually Aaliyah did sing in her lower range quite often on tracks.. I dont recall an aaliyah song where she didnt go G#3 or lower.. Mariah and Aaliyah both seem very comfortable in their lower and higher ranges
@Fattakink Nope. Aaliyah doesn't strain in her lower register. She hits E2, she sounds way more natural and powerful than Mariah, she also has better vocal quality. Aaliyah wins. Mariah is good too, but not THAT good I think.
@Stefano94x that supposed E2 i dont believe is her. her live notes compared to these mysterious 2nd octave notes just dont make sense she barely touches C3 live on top of that they sould ever breathy. Mariahs lower register is very solid and strong.
mariahs slays, but Aaliyahs voice was cute i give her that
@Fattakink@Fattakink The 2nd octave notes are from her, no doubt. When you listen to Givin'up, it's evident that the G2 is her. Sadly she couldn't improve, she died at 22 :( Her lower register was pretty extreme, especially because we're speaking about a singer who has never really exploited her vocal range.
@Stefano94x G2 is a far as i think she went. i see alot of people extend her range, but most people know that [i forget his name at the moment] did alot of her background singing he also died. Im pretty sure Aaliyah with due time could have been an excellent vocalist, she was promising i know, but the point is [not to be rude]
but when put against a vocal titan like Mariah, baby girl is just that. a baby girl.
@Fattakink I never thought of Mariah as a vocal titan. She is considered such by many, I know she's very good in terms of technique and range, but I find her tone too bland and inconsistent. A vocal titan would be, IMO, Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin, not her.
Aaliyah also hit F2. I've watched some videos (accurate videos, not fake) and it was a real F2. She said she was a soprano but I actually have some doubts.
@Stefano94x oh it for certain Aaliyah was no bodys soprano most of her weight were in her lower register. i tihnk she was in fact a lyric alto
can you provide a link of this F2? i find that very hard to believe.
Mariah yes her technique was very good the control she possess is crazy [perfect to some] and needless to say her range, but its more based on how she used her voice like a actual instrument with good sense of pitch, timing, and creating actual musical structures with her mellisma
Mariah has still a good technique, she doesn't sing like before because of the nodules in her vocal chords, but her technique has always been amazing. I don't like her cos I find her tone very flat and inconsistent, especially on upper chest register, but she's without doubt a talented singer.
@Stefano94x oh im subscribe to him. i seen his videos and i still doubt them well except that F#2 It sounded like an exhale. i know its in fact her but im not sure if id include that in her vocal range. sorta like whitneys A2. its like a weak breath of air.
and the F2-G2 slide in More than a woman is that man whom for the life of me i can seem to remember his name. i think it was someones shocker or something. idk. i think he was in Lil Waynes Lollipop song
@youngmoneyrealist05 being an alto doesnt mean you can hit extremely low notes easily. look at Toni her lowest note is Bb2. being an alto means most of your vocal weight is in the lower parts of your voice. thats why her belts sound so light because the higher she goes the less weight she is able to "carry"
Mariah wins...so lush, sexy and more audible
