  • virgin media is the shittiest internet provider EVER, i even had trouble getting to this comments page because their internet is shit! fuck virgin media!

  • cant watch it .... keeps buffering >.< dam you VM

  • Virgin media are a brilliant ISP I have been with them since the start they have always provided what I have requested im on the 100mb service it has proved how fast the connection can be I get a ping of around 10ms on average sometimes just a little higher and I get average speeds of about 97.89mb download and 9.77mb upload so they really don't suck the host of the game also has to be a factor...

  • @TheDubstepRelease I know dude, I upgraded to 100meg a few months ago, great service now. This video is old :D

  • well all i can say after being with Telelwest, these guys suck ass as a company their so called customer service is rubbish and that's being polite. Gaming on this isp is terrible at times mostly when their traffic management kicks in due to underinvestment in hardware and their Network. the call problems over utilization that means too many people in that area for the equipment.

  • lol no one even listen to what this guy is saying virgin media is the best broadband provider and i bet was using moblie broadband i have 100mb connection with them and always have perfect game connection. from 10mb to 100mb they always have perfect quaility for gaming online on an game

  • @masterdann1 See my update comment, all is well and I'm on 100mb :)

  • of course you have to be coursed with that lag, i tell you more, i would put a law to torture all the people (who listen to this shit "music") to be tortured in public places.

  • I have 50mg but the super hub they give out now keeps resetting Im told its netgear that needs to send out new firmware updates. please help

  • Just an update, I have since been so happy with my service that I am now on their top 100mb package. All is well!

  • that just means your in a bad virgin media area my connection is perfect and im on virgin media and only using the 10MBPS package :P

  • virgins customer service is appaling

  • LIAR! pics or you don't have 50mb broadband.

  • Thats some bad lag lol. I cant say i not had it on virgin media but i ended up fixing it by changing my rate value through the games console. I was running about 40 ping on some servers and 105 ping on others but still playable. Virgin do need sort this out. Download speed is not everything, we do need good TTL times. I think it is modem related as they do ware out.

  • what made me smile is that at the start of the video google ads popped up and tryed to sell me virgin media broadband. I have virgins 50meg service and its shit for xbox 360. Their p2p traffic system is killing online gamers and they have known about this for months, but they just put their heads in the sand and deny all knowledge until the problem gets so bad they have to do something about it. give it another year until they fix this.

  • Who needs a lagswitch when you have virgin media broadband? Take griefing to the next level!

  • @Computerhelp92 No I don't sorry, I'm not a big fan of wireless :)

  • @Computerhelp92 Since the super hub was installed, I've had no problems with down time or lag like I used to, and the speed is blazing fast.

  • blame vm 99% of time its the stupid inferior customers equipment or they have messed around with the cables adding splitters and different cable to move equipment such as set tops and modems

  • the game wasn't virgin medias fault because the lag is due to the hosts connection

  • @TheBestMonsterHunter Incorrect, the game is Peer2Server and anyway, everyone else in that game reported it was playing just fine for them.

  • @TheBestMonsterHunter no it isnt i have virgin media

its probably sent to india and back

  • Respond to this video... virgin media suck dick pay all that money just to get angry fuck virgin

  • Recently my connection has gone back to normal speed, so I'm quite happy now. Although for about 3 1/2 months I had horrible speed problems on my 20 mb package with packet loss, jitter & ping being unacceptably high.

Today I ordered the 30 mb service with my discounts still intact, except with a one off fee of £30. The service charge is even about a £1 cheaper with the new discount structure. Can't wait to get the new superhub. Alls well that ends well.

  • @Jeorney I too have upgraded to 30mb.

  • @lifestudios How is the 30mb upgrade & superhub - any problems with it? Or is this video based on 30mb?

  • @Jeorney Alas, technically not upgraded yet. Just received the email yesterday. Nah this video was based on 20 meg.

  • ok so if virgin media's internet is so bad can you explain why i get what i pay for i get 50mb down and 1.5mb up

i have never seen a connection lag like this so its either your setup or you are not in a virgin media fibre optic area because fibre does not lag like this not even on the lowest 10mb package.

if you are not on fibre then you cant expect a better connection from any provider since adsl looses speed over distance and they all pretty much use the same line

  • @micgamer16 I am in a fibre optic area and am generally pleased with the internet itself. I hope you realise that nothing works 100% of the time and this was that time. The main purpose of this video was also to outline their terrible customer support. Please think before you post comments.

  • NEXON NEED TO IMPROVE THEIR SERVERS -_- AND WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY. MORE THAN 20,000 EUROS /POUNDS...... IN ONE YEAR. so they can buy a new servers....

  • just because you have a problem because you didnt get it set up right theres no need to make a page on youtube i dont go round making pages about bt when they give you about 2 m when they promise more

  • @22penners22 Hey, dude, listen to me. I already said in my last comment that it was setup correctly. Nothing has changed. No engineer, nothing. We reconnect the box every now and again but that's it. There was the problem in the video and now it has gone. So please, explain to me what magical fairy setup our box correctly when we didn't have it setup correctly in the first place? Answer: It was setup correctly. Been with VM for years so the last time we had engineer r u saying he did it wrong?

  • @lifestudios yes if the signall is on the brink then it can drop out at any time but then work fine for months this can also cause lag but still work

  • dont listern to this guy the service is the best in the country he is just an unlucky guy who hasnt had it set up right i should know i work for them and as for that lag it may be because he isnt the host and the real host could be on a crapper internet or be piggybacking someone elses word of advise for you when you ring the call centers tell them the power is not coming on then they have to send an engineer out they sometimes lie the call centers make the company look bad !!

  • @22penners22 "Hasn't set it up right?" That's funny, because it resolved itself now and worked fine without us touching anything, therefore it must have been setup correctly in the first place. Secondly, there are no hosts in the game I was playing in. It is based on Peer2Server technology, and the server wasn't lagging because I was the only person in that game experiencing the issue.

  • @lifestudios just because its came back on does not mean its set up right i work for virgin installing tv tele and broadband sounds like signal issue Question do you have a wireless roughter and is it virgins or are you plugged in from the modem and what colour is this modem and does it run from tv cable or phone line and what speed do u have

  • @22penners22 I have a wireless router and it is not Virgin's because we were never given one by them. I am connected to the internet via wired connection through that router. We have 20MB fibre optic so I guess runs from tv cable, the modem is a sort of see through blue.

  • @lifestudios I am not the account holder/owner.

  • wtf? Laggg, on the news it recently said that they got like 200mps, im tempted cuz my internet conection isnt really that fast. Got BT broadband.

  • i had this a few months ago i kept ringing them up until they agreed to send someone out to fix the problem 50MB broadband now and havent seen any problems yet (average ping of 30-50 in most games)

  • Indian? rofl wtf... i get put on the scottish helpline, i got 50mb broadband, no problem.

  • i sometimes have issues with virgin on xbl... sometimes i get disconnected from xbl randomly, seems like packet loss but when i test it on pingtest everything is fine 0% packet loss & low pings @ 20ms.... also when downloading from newsgroups my net wud stay disconnected for like 20mins.... my power levels are spot on & i do have quite a few t3 timeouts... i hav 50meg btw.. can any1 help???

  • Hmmm your internet is bad, by the way what game are you playing at 0:34

  • @KlydeBlaque Elim pro?

  • @lifestudios hey playing cambat arms

  • do u torrent

  • same probs here

  • Many things cause rubberbanding btw,

1, Something else using your upstream bandwidth. ie. filesharing applications, Virus or other tools that upload, Or another person using your router.

2 Issue with game server your connecting too.

3 Pish computer or faulty router or modem.

A router is always the first suspect. And not all faults require techs. A tech can't fix a fault on your UBR by showing up at your door. I bet you heard the accent and automatically dismissed the guys instructions.

  • The ready light flashing on the modem though is likely an SNR outage or Insane traffic on the UBR your on.

You shouldn't be able to connect while the ready light is flashing. But when the modems sync and ready go solid if your connections still poor you should call and ask if the server has an SNR or Utilisation issue. If not they get them to check your modem power lvls.

  • It's all good telling me to ask them to do x or y for me, but they were defiant to follow their little instruction sheet. Whenever I tried to explain anything, he would keep talking over me and ignoring me.

Also, this started happening a few weeks ago, that should dismiss the filesharing idea you have.

  • We followed the instructions word for word, but of course the problem was that it goes down RANDOMLY, and he was like "Oh that's all good now everything seems to be working". He told us to check that it was the MODEM not the router, by checking if the ready light was flashing when it went down. When I tried to explain that that was EXACTLY what I had been recording - over 8 times a day - he kept on interrupting me.

  • @lifestudios I can understand why you got angry then. If you haven't resolved the issue yet try logging into your modem and checking your power lvls.

Your downstream power lvl is supposed to be within the -12dbmv/+12dbmv range & The upstream power lvl should be within the 35dbmv/55dbmv range.

If your power lvls are off. Check for an attenuator on the back of the modem and if you have one, Try remove it.

Power lvls being out means tech. Power lvls being in means its the UBR or the modem.

  • Thanks for your help, but how do I login to my modem?

I remember it vaguely the last time we had a tech round.

  • @lifestudios goto internet explorer and type in the address 192.168.100.1

Then you'll be in the modem config page.

Once in here goto login on the left and type root as the username and root as the password. Unless you modem has another login that should be shown on it's base. Anyways you'll have options for both Upstream and Downstream details.

  • Downstream Receive Power Level : 0.6 dBmV

    Downstream SNR : 36.4 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 42.5 dBmV

    That looks fine, right?

Thanks for the help, you've been more useful than any phonecall.. :D

  • @lifestudios Looks fine. If you continue to get slow speeds or connection issues then contact Virgin and ask them to check their UBR (Their verson of an exchange) It could be low SNR, Packetloss or High Utilisation.) It shouldn't take them 5min to figure out if SNR and Utilisation are ok. Tell them your power lvls are fine and if the UBR is also ok then you'll need a new modem. Modem fault being the least likely cause though. Most likely their end. Thats if everything from before checks out.

  • Just went down again, it's really odd, the event log said a few things:

Critical (3) DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response.

    Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

    No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

    Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

    Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/Q...

I dont understand the event log . Call them and do what u said?

  • @lifestudios Yeah. don't worry about the logs. Just stick to the power lvls are in range still. If the power lvls are ok and the sync or ready lights flashing its gonna be what i said before.

  • I didn't have a filesharing application at the time, my PC is clear of viruses and nobody else in that game was lagging like that. A person just a few houses down from me has no problems with his connection.

EVERY time that it went down, the lights were flashing on the modem, and by resetting the modem, it worked. So the Router should be fine.

The guy read out what was written on a sheet of cardboard in front of him, can';t you see that?

  • i thought virgin is good broadband, well it isnt think

  • yeh ive got bt, and connections goes evrytime phone rings and some1 speaking onit lol.

  • holy shit that is crazy lag in my book it means low framerate but that's just going back on itself no wonder you kept falling off the stairs!

  • yo mate i am with virgin and mine is laggin like a b1tch, (im glad im not the only one!), my pc is fine, i know its not that. my ping is usualy 155 ingame on a standard day, much much higher like 500 sometimes. god nose what the problem is, why some virgin customers are ok... i live in bristol, where abouts are you?

  • Surrey.

3-4PM it went down THREE times!

  • hi alex, mine works fine, its just my GAY PC

  • i have that same lag too, but after that it was gone.

  • dude its your pc i have virgin and i never lag

  • ROFL.

How can a flashing modem light be my PC;'s fault? I hope you realize that there are a million reasons why this is happening.
