  • @ChocoaNuggetz Pete Rock made the beat and CL spit all of the verses...

  • @ChocoaNuggetz Pete Rock & CL Smooth made this beat and they spit all of the versus, but yes there is another version with Proof and it's produced by J Dilla. It's called Searchin' - Proof

  • @Fdawg18 Love that version, it's awesome, true hip-hop. Wish Proof hadn't died though, good combo him and J Dilla.

  • @ChocoaNuggetz Roy Ayers made it first...then Pete looped it. The J-Dilla thing came later. But this is the original dope right here as far as hip hop goes.

  • Pete Rock is tha grandmaster. if you dont like him, you dont like true hip hop.

  • 5 Elementz - searchin

  • @kpapoose1 Produced by dilla.

  • This would've been a hit if they didn't break up when this came out.

  • BLAKE KILLED THIS BEAT

  • Pete Rock and CL are hip hop legends who's run of popularity should've lasted longer.

  • Love Viniia Mojica's voice. Mind Blowin is hot to by Pete Rock

  • @trone1084 YES !! Love that song -- MY FAVE -- I played the drums to that song over and over again until I had it NAILED. Tried to get my buddies to learn the bass and guitar parts - too hard for 'em. The song "mind blowin' decisions" by HEATWAVE sampled in there. LOVE VINIA MOJICA.

  • hiphoppppppp

  • 1 person dont know how to search

  • for the grown and sexy crowd

  • At first I thought the sampled song also had to be the same from Lupe's 'Paris, Tokyo'. I was wrong, but all four tracks are groovy!

  • 1 person gave up and used google.

  • if we only still had rap like this maybe i would still have a car radio to listen to who agree's ?

  • @dragonxop word

  • @dragonxop Do what i do. Burn CDs of all the music you love. There is still good music out there, its just that you have to search real hard for it. Real Hip Hop will never die, you just won't hear it on the radio. I feel you though.

  • @Justice777Allah or you could buy as many classic 12" and LP's as possible. preserve the art of wax kid!!

  • my boyfriend sent me this

    love him.

  • roy ayers yes

  • 93 was the second best year for hip hop the best year was 89 ........i miss them days

  • @darnellpt No doubt! Those were great yrs for hip hop. My personal favorite yrs for hip hop were '92, '94 and its a toss up between '97 n '98. I just think as each year passed, rapper's lyrics just kept gettin better and producer's beats kept gettin harder n harder. On the real tho, I think '94 was truly my favorite year. Main Ingredient, Ready to Die, Hard to Earn, Illmatic etc. I think rap peaked in the late 90's after everyone got their gold n platinum plaques.

  • @macnastee doe or die by AZ or it was written by NAS? I think those years were just as good. I don't have 1 particular favorite year. I think from the mid to late 90's was best for me. I'm a little more open minded when it comes to hip hop because from 1992-2002 there were a grip of honorable hip hop albums that were released. 2005 is really the year when hip hop plummeted down the toilet for me, but in 2011 i'm just grateful that we have producers like 9th wonder, mphazes, & damu fudgemunk.

  • @mumsdawerd I agree post 2005 has been horrible for hip-hop. Im 28 soooo I came up on Biggie, Pac, and Nas. Not to mention the Pharcyde, Lords of the Underground, and Black Moon....

  • @drmorena25 word up man, that was the best hip hop there ever was. 70/80's rap was only the icing on the cake. When the 90's hit, hip hop had evolved into something much more with a lot more meaning, substance, and spirituality. I'm 26 so i know exactly where you're comin' from homie. I was big into BootCamp Click when i first started really gettin into hip hop. BlackMoon, heltah skeltah, o.g.c, cocoa brovaz, that was my shit. :-)

  • @drmorena25 man people really 4get bout The Pharcyde......Labcabincalifornia is one of the most underated rap cds of all time.....it never gets mentioned, but i dont know anybody that doesnt like it.....just ask around and u will see......too bad they couldnt mend their differences b4 it was too late

  • @mochic32 What Pharcyde is dope & definitely brought it in the early nineties them dudes were talented & unique it's a sin they dont still come together for tours there up there with tribe man might not say it but we all pretty much had love for em.

  • @drmorena25 Whats this muthafuckin rap game without L? --> post 2005... get the picture? the big picture?

  • Yo, i was 'searchin' for this song... Get it? ha-ha?

no? okay, i'll just go stand over there...

  • @TheFlyestDutchman It was So Funny I Forgot To Laugh

oh I see you're dutch, so I can say what I Usually say

Het was zo grappig dat ik vergat te lachen :P

  • @TheFlyestDutchman great username my dutch brother

  • I miss songs like this

  • This track is just simply... .F.R.E.S.H

  • this joint hooks :P

  • I don't want to dis dilla. I mean, he was the best producer in his lifetime and maybe still today. but pete rock's *seaching* beat is way more complex. touches me more

  • @MrDavePhilly just because pete rock's original touches you more does not make his beat more intricate, both have diff styles, and both are genius. Comparing them to eachother is like comparing apples to oranges. Both diff flavors, yet both are still sweet.

  • is this really the roy ayers samplee??????but i needa figure out how to get that kinda bass in my tracks!!!!!

  • As much respect as I have for Dilla, this has gotta be way better than Proof's

  • J Dilla sampled this track, it's called Searchin - 5 elementz, it features proof of D12 :)

BTW this track is banging too ^^

  • @DCLbeats he didnt sample it, he sampled the original Roy Ayers track.

  • @Nazaret99 Yea I figured out later

  • @DCLbeats nice!

  • This beat is ...omg smooth...I love it! =)

  • Good Lord, who's the 1 dislike???????

  • class!k

  • classic material

  • this version is different. from where is it from?

its really a grea track....it hits the soul ..shit iz real!

  • Also totally loooovin the style of dress in the photo above. Fits perfectly with the chill music without looking too pants-on-the-ground...today's culture just don't make baggy fashion like they used to, everything's all tacky now.

  • @KarlBonner1982 well now people wear ball huggers

  • @MrDirtdevil91 Ain't it funny how we went from one extreme to another? Just about what year did the trend toward tighter looks begin? The impression I had was that baggy jeans slowed way down in the late 1990s but then came back a few years later.

In the places where I've recently lived (Oregon), baggy jeans are still kinda popular, though less so than in the past. I wonder if this is a geographical thing and other places have seen that look go almost extinct?

  • I`ve had this on repeat for hours at a time.

  • @Nattielockx lol word up

  • @Nattielockx you and me both,,,shit is hypnotic! I miss real hip-hop so bad its sad.

  • @Nattielockx Same here! Still bump it to this day even in the whip to get that deep bassline.

  • @013jc Thanks for the idea I'll try it very soon....;)

  • dopee jam !

  • enorme

  • pete rock>dilla. this is the best song off their album

  • @013jc damn i gotta do that now!

  • I talked about my brother Wil today without cry n for the first time! Don't mean I don't love Jim or miss him. This joint right here was one of his faves!l lol!! We use to balze to this here! Thanks for posting...this took me to a good place.

  • @ilias900 hip hop isn't dead.

  • @OziiBeats

If it's not dead, it has to be in a very deep coma.

  • @ilias900 I know , today's (c)rap is crap, but there are good rappers , tryin' to keep hip hop alive.

  • wow this shit is too smooth for my own good.!

  • FIRE! I USED TO GET LIT TO THIS...ROY...PETE..CL
