Excellent - I discovered Les Dudek when his "Say No More" album came out decades ago - what a great upload, stlblair - thank you for the memories of this great, great musician. I love that photograph of him on the cover of the "Say No More" album - that look on his face is priceless!
I do not know how many of you are from the ST. Louis area, but, around here we have KSHE radio, and KSHE HD2,so I am listening to this on Bose speakers, and watching the video here! Pretty fucking cool !!!
I had the courtesy of having lunch Mr. Dudek a week and a half ago. I haven't been able to think about much else. I was starstruck and it was a great 2 hours, amazing to be able to sit down with a true rocker for once in my life.
He was born two days after me. I wish I'd had the patience to practice more on my guitar back then. But I somehow doubt that I'd still have ever matched Les' talent...
@stlblair I couldn't miss it could I? I was just being a wiseass. In truth though, I really enjoyed the info and wish more people would take the time to do it. Keep up the good work.
A truly great artist!! Just posted it on FB in hopes of some likes. If it doesn't get any somthings wrong with those people out there. Used to listen to him a lot. Great guitar work!!
Used to cover this song way back when, fun to sing and play, still got the vinyl. Trying to get a band to cover this quality of material anymore is almost impossible, all any of them know anymore is three chord shit. Oh, and Dickey never did give him credit for "Jessica"
Les played the Bamboo Room in Lk Wrth, FL last week! Grt show! His guitar leads are as awesome as ever. My all time fav lead guitar lick player. TEARS IT UP! He kicked butt on this song as well as playing some Allman Bros, Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs (who gave an incredible show at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach 2 weeks ago, including an ubelievable encore of "Somebody Loan Me A Dime") and Jeff Beck, whom I get to see and work bk stage for this Sunday night at Sunfest in WPB, FL. Luv U Les!
Bob Willis (RIP) turned me on to this song way back when. Same dude that turned me on to Blues Traveler when they first came out. Brings back great memories. Thx for posting.
yeah man when i turn somebody on to les dudek i play the say no more album in its entirety .. they are always blown away ..mark " houlihan " hounihan ..a fellow st. louisan
OMG, this is such a great song. The voice, thevocal phrasing, the instrumentation, and besides all that, it totally grooves. I think this is one of my 30 favorite songs ever. Glad someone posted it, I hadn't heard it in YEARS. This totally took me back
One of the best blues/rockers and a TONE MONSTER! Check out his "Deeper Shades of Blues" with the late, Jeff Porcaro on drums. Seriously, trust Doc on this one.
My brother & I used to be the biggest fans (ánd the only ones i'm afraid) of the mentioned DFK (dudek Finnigan Krueger) not to forget bass player Trey Thompson!
I hereby pledge to put 'Angels Fall' and 'Just Be Happy' on uTube before the day I die! It's vinyl so it'll make a lousy video though..
@stormcloud50 ...I'm sure they didn't have photo shop software in the 70's but the woman in the picture was hanging upside down when the picture was snapped.
Then, they flipped her picture around, right side up, and pasted her next to Les.
@BigORat The girl on the cover is Telly Savalis's niece. No need for the tickets,.. he's a good friend!!! Les is on the last leg of his Summer Tour, but there are a few dates left. Check LesDudek.com for a date near you.
Great tune, great guitarist. Thanks stblair. Heard Les in a Licorice Pizza store in Pacific Beach in 1976 and couldn't figure out if he was the Allman Brothers, Boz Scaggs, or Steve Miller. Well, turns out he's played with them all. "City Magic" started the album and from there I was hooked. I snapped that debut masterpiece up with a piece of licorice. Tasty! Groove on, Jeff

I spent way too much time looking at this album cover when I was a teen.
There's something strange about this picture other than the champaine flowing up.
Anybody know?
First correct answer gets 2 free tickets to a Les Dudek concert.
(just kidding).

@BigORat The chicks hair is falling the same direction as the champaine
