  • Hi everyone, There is a lot of trivia behind this song. Those were the days when socialist reforms were percolating into the deeper strata of the society and nook and corner of the country as is evident in those lyrics. Interestingly , while being a box office hit of that era , Waheedaji was attending a function to celebrate its success in Hyderabad (I think it was in 1956 )& she was approached by Guru duttji ( who was related to Sham Benegal ) and the rest is a History !!!!

  • @gunanidhy55

    Interesting information. Thanks.

  • This song not only became very popular but it also was the performance which got Guru Dutt to launch Waheeda Rehman in hindi films with CID (1956). However, what is even more interesting is that in 1960 there was a hindi film called Bambai Ka Babu which starred Dev Anand and Suchitra Sen with S.D. Burman composing the music. A song in that film with the words "Dekhne Mein Bhola Hai" sung by Asha Bhonsle has exactly the same tune as this song.

  • i respect of ur reply. i borned in telengana. the recording is faulty. this movie of myy child hood. u cannt enjoy the words. thank

  • the tabla make me annoyed, as if i am in auto rickshaw of old city

  • You seem to have never had an occasion to listen to the beat of dappu [also called thappeta in some parts of Andhra Pradesh, India]. The beat of this simple folk musical drum infuses vigour and life into a folk dance. It is not the sound of "tabala" which is totally a different instrument.
