An instrument like that I believe shouldn't be used with drums. Drums are fast paced, gets you tired, wear and tear. That's why we have drum machines like the MV-8800! The Gypsy sounds great with synths sounds, anything with smooth body movements. I like this body suit, I would like to buy one!
certainly not particularly practical, but it would make a great concert prop. Probably like play a bass line with it. Other than that, I don't see any legit musical possibilities..
talking bout possibilities, creating something like this doesn't stop the possibilities, few years ago cellphone doesn't exist or even a video on your cp doesn't came arcoss anyones mind..try to visualize this...waving your hands using this technology as if you're drawing a square in the air and a holographic video will appear..i guess you will say imposible, right, but i would like to think out of the box which creates more possibilities
I concur...sort of.... MY complaint is that if you listen to the music, it is apparent that holding down even a simple beat with this set up would be next to impossible. The drum performance sounds like a beginner.
I dare you to do a doublestroke roll with that thing... Or even just ghosting on the snare, or some intricate ride work. It's a gimmick. I do see it being used for other things than drums though.
A gimmick is something that's unique but isn't particularly useful. Playing drums with this device may look really cool, but you can't realistically expect anyone to play professionally with that. It's just not a precise enough device, and you're not going to be impressing any crowd with a beat this simple.
Hey I think the device it self might work out, especially for filter control during a live performance, I'm merely referring to its use as a drum machine. You just can't expect this to come close to a midi pad surface in terms of precision.
If they didn't cut the video back n forth this guy would look like he's oddly cooking

Can be done with flexible strips for $2 rather then mechanical arms for a start.

I do believe this has more video cuts than the shower scene in Psycho, within about 25 seconds.

Drum sounds aren't so good, but it's still a very cool MIDI device.

its completly pointless, its just simplyfying midi controllers by so much..there are only like 6 samples to assign, it makes you look gay aswell.

With a little tweaking this could be beyond cool.
Imagine a concert with no instruments...the cyberpunk-addicted-geek in me is happy at this vid.

It was just a demonstration. Let's wait for someone to push it to the limit before we call it a gimmick.
