I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :)
Well, and quicker. The Brock 510s (BREs) won the 2.5 Trans Am series in the early 70s beating the 2002s and Alfas thanks to John Morton...despite entering the series late. This with a 1.6 L and 44 Mikunis cranking out over 200 hp with a shell likely about 1500 to 1700 lbs. But, I love em all...
BMW 2002s and early Datsun 510s set the standard for light RWD fully independent suspension cars in the 1 T range. A formula that today still can't be beat. Regulations and appetites for accessories have made most RWD cars portly to say the least. Nice vid.
@BigGameCats Agreed....however, I must be the pompous know-it-all to point out that the IRS on the Datsuns were almost literally a dead rip of the BMW design which preceded it. The '02 bodyshell itself is heavily based on designs by Lancia and Alfa-Romeo.
Not a bad marketing strategy, however. Wait for the Krauts to get it right, and then sell them cheaper!
Ever seen a photo of the Harley-Davidson clone of the fifties, or the BMW in the sixties? Look up the Lilac and/or Marusho. Pretty crazy.
@UserNamei5 I like the way Civics actually look, but the FF drive layout always puts me off.
I would definitely go for a 70's Civic as they are really lightweight & nimble. 80's CRX would be nice too. I have also loved BMW's 70's 2002 model. Boxy cars are just my thing :-)
@UserNamei5 I love older BMW's but lets face it, they aren't very cheap & don't get great mileage (for the performance they do though) Honda makes cheap cars that last a long time & can be quick if done PROPERLY & not with plastic crap all over. I just like small quick cars that last a long time & make me smile.
what does MRT mean??

Why do a lot of race cars have tape over the headlights like this one has?
bcasey6747 1 year ago
@bcasey6747 The tape is there so that if he breaks a headlight during a race there wont little particles of glass on the track.

@UserNamei5 First you say Honda is shit, then say "to each his own" ? I bet you hated BMW before you got one, or did you?

Non, not a twincam. This is an M10 engine with webers as you assumed. But this is simply how they sound when they are nicely tuned and modded.
I wish mine sounded this way. I've got a few videos of the E21 bmw which has the same engine.
