  • very smart technique - thanks!!

  • Wicked! Thanks a lot!

    Faved and rated 5 stars*****

  • a very smart tuturial.

  • Wow... i have never really seen a tutorial so "explained". You almost explained to much but i guess its good for beginners. Im not a beginner but I did learn something new. Thx! :D

  • WOW! thanks!

  • okey Tanks:P

  • whats the key i have to press if i want to make ure brush size smaller or bigger??

  • what key must i press when i gonna make my brush size begger or smaller?

  • Make sure your Caps Lock key is NOT on! Press the Left Bracket key [ - to shrink brush diameter; press the Right Bracket key ]- to enlarge brush diameter. Don't confuse Bracket keys with Parenthesis keys. Bracket keys are to the right of the "P" key on the keyboard.

  • hi

you could simply change the mode of the healing brush to "replace" instead of all this work.

  • Replace makes the healing brush work exactly like the Clone Stamp Tool. You could use just a very tiny brush and work carefully, this way actually lets you have a bit more leeway

  • Check the box "Sample All Layers" in the top Options bar, it's the same thing.

  • that's the problem though

there is no sample all layers box to click :/ it's just not there for some reason

  • do you have your screen resolution on your computer set to a minimum of 1024 x768..maybe you're not looking in the right place.

Also maybe you are using the Screen mode that hides the options bar, press the letter "F" a couple time to cycle these views while you have the tool selected. I have CS2 and I assure you it IS there!

  • im using cs2 but when i use the healing tool for some reason i get the 'align' option but theres no 'use all layers'

does anyone have any idea what i should do?

i know im using the correct tool and have duplicated the layer etc. the check box i need just isnt there :/

  • I've got to try this. Right on mama!!

  • DAaaannngggg this is so awesome!

I'm new to PS and am just amazed at what can be done.

  • THAT WAS AWESOME! THANX!

  • i have question..i was following your steps successfully so far...but around 6:00 i got lost beacuse i was not getting texture results and when i held down my mouse and cover an area it was showing me the duplicate layer underneath but the texture does not appear...what am i doing wrong?

  • Make sure Sample All Layers in the top options bar is checked, Aligned unchecked, Normal mode. Make sure you are in fact using the Healing Brush tool after having done the smudge with the Smudge tool. Option/Alt click on a texture area to target the source texture and make sure your new layer is the one highlighted in the Layers palette. If u r Alt/Option clicking on a smudged area rather than a texture area you won't get texture. Cross hair indicates where the texture is being copied from

  • Fantastic tutorial! I have always wondered about how to get rid of hair strands so close to the skin. Thanks again :)

  • You are a genius...!!!

Thank you so much for your tutorials.

    Regards.

    Marcelo

  • next step is to not chose the healing brush... omg thats a good one

  • Awesome tutorial! Way appreciated, struggled with the smeared look for some time, nice trick!

  • Wow great tutorial !! I would've probabl picked the clone stap tool for it, but this is at least as good as the clone stamp, so thanks a million times for this, my ps knowledge raised once again!

  • You are AWESOME....I love your tutorials...I so have 2 subscribe!

  • in this case this technique seems a bit of a faf, but im sure it has its uses elsewhere =]] nice tut

  • why wouldn't you use a small clone stamp to get rid of the hairs at the edge? It's a good technique to know though.

  • Absolutely, you could but if there's several wisps it can get patterned looking and then you'd have to heal brush or airbrush to blend, but certainly whatever works! There's always several ways to do the same thing in Photoshop

  • thank you!! this is an amazing tutorial. one of the most helpful i've seen.

  • THANK YOU!!! I have always wondered how I can get close to something without get that awful smudge. It was easy to understand you and everything. Thank you for making this great vid. I am so subscribing to your videos!

  • Ohhh Mama!!! Leave it to a woman to give a tutorial that is not screaming, shrieking or difficult to follow. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!

  • YES! And she doesn't constantly say "Uh" or "um"

  • awesome. there are so many diffrent ways to use this technique! thanks alot!

  • oh my good god.

    you..are a GENIUS!!

I took a THREE YEAR graphic design course and let me tell YOU, I learned more from this ONE tutorial, than from ALL my photoshop classes COMBINED. LOL!

thank you SO much for this mama!

  • Wow! That's awesome to hear! Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and letting me know you learned something here!

  • That's beacuse YOU just suck.

  • yup...thats possible too! jerk.

  • First of all I want to thank you because its been kill me for a while to figure a way around the "bleeding" when using patch. Your tutorial was really helpful and smart.

Just a comment, I don't know if its just me, but you tend to talk a lot, I don't wanna be offensive but at some points it was a bit annoying :/

Once again , GREAT tutorial =)

  • excellent work i learn a lot form your tutor

    thank you very much

  • weee.. ive lernd a lot...

    that is so kewl..

    ahaha nice trick.. ehehe c:

  • k it's a cool trick and all but 10 minutes to erase two little hairs...I liked the hairs =/

  • i love your videos and i have a question

and id be so appreciative if you could anwser

okay first, ive got ps 6..im not sure if youve ever worked with it but in tutorials ive tried they say to add a layer mask..im unsure if ps 6 does have masks,if not would you know an alternative to masking?

  • Yes Photoshop 6 has layer masking. It's the circle in a gray square icon at the bottom of the Layers Palette.

  • This is a fantastic trick. In the past i have used the replace option on the healing brush but not nearly as effective!

  • thank you so much...love this trick

  • Your tutorials are fabulous! I have also bookmarked your site. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

    Cher

  • I have a question about hair how do you change the hair color i have a friend that wants me to photoshop her hair lighter but i don't know how !!! I love your videos I have tried photoshop before but i never understood!! I love this I have always wondered how to do these things and i have never been able to !!! now i can!!!

  • Often you can just create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer with the Colorize box checked, and dial in a new color, play with the hue, saturation, and lightness sliders, but often you can't get really natural color. You could also just create an empty layer above set to SoftLight Mode and paint a lighter color. I also sell hair color actions but they work great for brunettes and lighter but not for jet black hair.

  • i like your voice ^^

  • This is a really easy to use helpful tutorial. THANK YOU! I usually use the magic wand to select hair to change it's colour using hue and saturation fixes... buuuuuut, the little lines are always left there! YOURE AWESOME THANK U SO MUCH!!!

  • Your the best! Your the first I've seen to use a black model which helps me with my pics. Thank you so very very veeerrrryyy much -^__^-

  • layer mask... I am using PS Elements 4,0... son't seem to have any (of find any) :(

  • Elements only provides masks for Adjustment Fill layers but not an actual pixel layer. The work around is to create a clipping mask, putting the pixel layer on top of a blank layer. Then paint on the underlying black layer to reveal the effects of the clipping above it.

  • ok thank you , you are the best! wich I was as good as you :)

    ps. love your voise X3!

  • typo error* I meant,..."Then paint on the underlying BLANK layer (with black or any color to reveal the effects of the clipping (pixel layer) above it.

  • WOW!!!

  • wow thats so clever i'm gonna have to try that

  • I would normally just use the clone stamp but this technique is another way that at certain times may be more accurate. Thanks moms

  • nice job mama!!

  • omgosh thank you soo much that helps sooo much momma

  • oh mama, you are the best! :)

  • very interesting , like always : )
