  • :53 - BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK BLINK

  • im not kidding, im high XD

  • im so fucking high on salvia BUT... this game and its music is so fkn awesome! l really love this game! im really high guys xD true story xD

  • games like this make me feel like programming games the good-ol 8-bits style for the web.

(not like i can program any kind of game anyway)

  • cilantrogamer ♥

  • I keep throwing golds at the screen but nothing is happening. Am I not throwing enough golds?

  • 4:40, if that tune doesn't carry a sense of despair, I don't know what will

    Great upload Garudoh

  • Faxandu!!! Someone gave that game to me and my little brother for free when we were kids, and we played it for hours. This makes me want to break out my NES and play it again. :)

  • This was my second NES game after SMB3, and only cost £5 at the time. Excellent game!

  • @ilestaucourant haha yeah, perfectly simple indeed. I think that's a big part of it - working with huge limitations. Also, they throw in plenty of arpeggios, which is always works a treat!

  • @ilestaucourant how do they do it? I can't figure it out. Nintendo music is the most memorable by far, in creating - like no-one else - that feeling of pure NOSTALGIA. Do you think it's merely the tinny instruments?

  • Was this the 3rd game or the 4th in the Dragon Slayer series? It's been awhile since I played this game.

  • I never knew Bill Murray was good at making keys before this game

  • GOLDS. THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH.

  • PS:

YUO MISS ADD 2 THEME MUSIC, BOSS THEME AND HOURGLASS THEME...

  • one my favorite game of NES.

i play this game 2 weeks a got with my nes connected to videoproiector with video size 120 inch lol

evry pixel was size 0.5 inch// 1 Cm lol XD

  • is that man naked?

  • There's two tunes missing. Three if you count the boss music.

  • OMG I love this game. And here I thought it was forgotten, guess not! Rock on. I love this game because its a dark fantasy. its not very "happy"

  • I have used mattock.

  • One of the best NES games. It was so different from all the other games: unique and fantastic tunes, great graphics, and the whole tree concept. Loved it!

  • @bluemanor i loved playing it and getting so strong, just slaying everything :D loved how much you could level :D

  • ahhaha I loved this game

  • Perhaps the most fascinating thing about the game is how well the exploring and battling hold up even with how old the game is, and the tunes are still top notch. Can't say the same for a lot of NES titles.

  • the burning tree area song!! awesome!

  • this song is SOOO EPIC lol wheres the remix?

  • People you speak to blink rapidly...they must've been on drugs.

  • This game used to scare the shit out of me! with those one legged big eyed bastards! That music alone is enough to bring back.... the FEAR!

  • reminds me of staying up late in the dark. laying in bed before sleep, advancing in the game every night before I would pass out. Awesome.

  • one of the greatest games ever... and the music rules

  • I love Video Game music!

  • This is my all time favorite game!

  • Some of the greatest music you will ever hear in a NES game. The game itself is very good, if not great, but the music just puts it over the top. Love this game.

  • @ilestaucourant Maybe you've just grown up. ;)

  • This game rocked! lol, the music

  • This game is awesome.

  • I loved the Mist City music at 3:40 as a kid. I still hear music in games to this day that reminds me of that tune in certain spots

  • damn I played this game OVER AND OVER

  • everyone suffers from epilepsy in this game, no lie

  • i love this game. even though its gameplay is horrible

  • What happened to the main character's pants?

  • I would pay alot of golds to play this game again.

  • @JohnTheLimitBreaker Or you could play it on an emulator for free.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion

Or he could buy it from me... =P

Actually, I think I sold my Faxanadu duplicates already....

  • *blink blink blink* Glad you could come. Disaster has befallen us. *blink blink blink blink*

  • 1989...hard to believe it was that long ago. i still remember this game like yesterday, and sometimes catch myself whistling these tunes at work...

  • Do you want a treatment?

    *screen fades to black*

  • I don't think that Xanadu was released for the Famicom.

  • One of the best games for NES. Kick ass sound track, kick ass enemies and kick ass atmosphere.

I just wish this game would have been little longer and it would've had more places to use mattock in it plus some other extra items.

Oh well, can't have it all. It would have been badass to get a sequel for this... Umm... Prequel. XD

  • This is such a badass game.

  • I loved playing this game so much. One of my top favs!!

  • Great game, great music, I never was able to beat it though.

  • What a throwback.. :) Now I wanna go live in a giant tree city, get hopped up on elixirs and dance with one of those big-headed cyclops bouncing around on one arm. Did that shopkeeper just screw me over with a cheap W-key knockoff? I wanted an M-key!!

  • 0:53 - 1:00 i cant tell if that guy is talking with his eyes or his mouth o.o -.- o.o

  • Nello. I sell tools. What would you like?

  • I never did play Faxanadu. Game looks pretty fun though and the soundtrack is quite catchy.

  • I know someone in real life who blinks like that. :D

    ... but only... one.

  • I wish someone would give me 1500 golds.

  • All you gotta do is lie to some fat king about your intentions with the money.

  • Man, I didn't beat Faxanadu until I was in my twenties. xD

  • i remember cutting school to play this, tecmo bowl and maniac mansion

  • I remember this game, damn did I spend hours on that... and I love the music, I remember it as it was yesterday. This music is epic! thanks for posting this.

  • this is one my favorites games from NES... my grandma has this and I used to play this as I kid when I was sleeping over there!

  • A good childhood memory! I remember getting the wing boots and the deluge magic :)

  • The music thats starts at 3:41 is one of the most creepy songs ever created for the Nes, its this and so the song in shadowgate when you torch starts to go out.

  • You are so right, so right, so right.

It can't tell you how incredible it is to find someone who lives in a different part of the world and has the exact same reaction to this little anonymous twenty-year-old melody.

I didn't like Shadowgate. - I love Faxanadu and its music, actually when I first bought it it was kind of the ugly duckling of my NES collection but this game has grown on me over the decades.

    Man, classic games rock.

  • I did like Shadowgate becouse it was 1 of 2 games that was translated in to Swedish, thats one of the reasons i liked it ^^ my english wasnt that good back in the days. The other game that got translated to swedish was Deja vu ^^

  • I liked Shadowgate even in English... a bit of trial and error in places and it was flawed... but I liked it :)

  • This is Hudson's crown jewel. Fantastic game, unbelievable score.

  • I'm always if Falcom or Hudson developed this game. Doesn;t really look like any of the other Hudson NES games at all.

  • I've just finished it several hours ago !

  • The fog lvl brings me back baaad memories. The music is fine, but gosh I hated fog lvl so freakin' much!

But I must say that the best music in Faxanadu is Overworld.

But the whole music in this game is wonderful!

  • I understand what you mean!!! the fog level scared me and kicked the crud outta me. lol even now i my twenties i still get a bit creeped out. lol!

  • man the king got eye seizures

  • Ah yes, the old 1500 gold bug.

  • I love this game! I got really far, but I made a mistake when I wrote down a password and lost my place, and I've never played it since. D:

  • this game was badass :D

  • FAXANADUUU!

  • What region is the game in this video? The font in this version is crisper compared to the game I own. I remember my sister and I making fun of the shopkeepers because "Hello" looked more like "Nello."

And I definitely need to set up my NES and play some of my old games now, too.

  • Yes! I loved this game. Thanks for posting.

  • Is this a swedish game?

  • No weaponnerd.. What made you think that? =)

  • Don't have negative thoughts. Remember your mantra.

  • this is not enough golds....lol this game was so much fun to play. i'm going to dust off my 8 bit nintendo now...and pray this game still works

  • just blow into the bottom of the cartridge to remove dust, then if it still dont work, try to make the top of the cart touch the edge of the systems cartridge elevator thing so instead of jamming it far into the machine, you just put it in a little and try to get the top flush with the system.

  • that's what she said

  • haha actually...yea haha

  • haha

  • I love this game, its this game and Shadowgate and Journey to Silius that have made the biggest impression on me

  • One of my favourite games ever. (Including it's semi-sequel Legacy of the Wizard)

And the sound was captured so well too!

  • 2:10 is my favorite.

  • GOD DAMN STOP BLINKING SO FUCKING MUCH

  • I saw a video walkthrough of LufiaSelan beating this game and concluded that some of the programming was pretty bad.

  • Probably! But it was awesome anyway.

  • This game was pretty cool.

  • oh I loved this game. so many memories.

  • this game was so effing hard.

  • This music was composed by the same person who did the Bomberman OSTs. These tracks sound ok.

  • My favorite music is the music you hear right after going through the first Ace door, it's not on here :(.

My 2nd favorite is the music you hear after doing the spring part at 3:40.

Wasn't the developer of this game Hudson Soft?

  • Yes Hudson Soft made the game, Nihon Falcom owns it... either way there's no reason that it shouldn't appear on the Virtual Console since both companies have signed on to re-release games for it.

  • yeah, the fog level music was my favorite on this game.

  • This game was a cool action rpg. The only real problem I had with the game was the godawful password save system. It was really annoying in this game.

  • This was one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE games growing up.

  • Wait. Why is the font different from what I saw?

Is this like, the European version or something?

  • I never liked the music that you hear when you enter shops.

  • oh the sweet memories.

  • Never played the game, but looks like fun. The song at 2:06 I've heard somewhere before, or maybe I heard something similar to it. And I can see that every character you talk to has to constantly blink when they talk, kinda annoying.

  • hii....its from jean michael jarre i think is called computer weekend...i saw the simmilarities too...jejejej

  • sorry me again...i google and search ...actually is RENDEZ VOUS IV by jean michael jarre..there is a video here on you tube

  • I don't know, I went & listened to both songs & they sound sort of similar. I might have heard the music in a game review video or something. Thanks for the response, though, the videos of Jean were pretty wicked-looking.

  • anytime!!! and jarre has wonderelfull music..search for chronologie 4

  • On a regular basis, I still tell people not to have negative thoughts and remember their mantra.

  • LOL im so going to do the same from now on, i played this game no stop as a kid ^_^

  • Lmao, yeah, Best game over message on the NES.

Besides the Friday the 13th G.O. screen.

"You and your friends are dead"

    "Game Over"

  • so wins.

  • @kethe

You sir, are very funny. =)

  • @fooblepie

    Thanks, I try. :)

  • @kethe LOL...i know right!

  • Ah the good times of grinding out cash...

  • good music, good game, good memories.

    trifecta.

  • kind of a weird rpg at the time, but very addictive back then.

  • This game was simple, yet fun. It was a worthy purchase.

    Ah, the memories...

  • *blink* Nice *blink* job *blink* there *blink blink*.

  • I don't get it.

  • You'd have to see the game to get it. Check out a video, and watch the eyes of any characters that talk.

  • OMG hahahaa yeah that's faxanadu all right XDD

  • Looks like they're having a seizure or something XP

  • Lol is it the one that saves the game? :]
