@ColinMcDonaldGrant Much (if not all) of the original recordings were engineered and meant to be heard in Mono. Many Beatles purists prefer the mono mix (along with myself). Something about the stereo mix sounds lopsided to me I guess.

I have both the stereo and mono box-sets, and the one thing that bothers me (and it's a huge gripe) is that they made everybody wait so-long, and they spent all that time remastering, designing the box, and all that other stuff, only to slam it with compression at the mastering-stage. These would be phenomenal if they had only skipped the mastering-compression. That's why these are so-much-louder than the old discs.
Hate to say it, but they blew it..... again...... Only took 22 years this time.

Compare the sound to Japanese vinyl. Japan released the mono lp's years ago on red vinyl. The sound is superior to any cd. Also the cd may say printed in japan. It doesn't prove anything. In Europe we got the same edition. But no obi's. In Jazz cd's manufacturers did the same. Clifford Brown on Mercury perfect example. Copied it all. But sorry for the Europeans it was pressed there. I must say I found the sound of the mono box disappointing. Flat compared to the vinyl. Nice video

Im 14 years old and i've been wondering, if 'the mono box set' was the right one for me.
Now, I have been listened to The Beatles in 9 months and I don't think that 'the stereo box set' is the right box to buy, because I have the 1987 stereo cds and they are not very good.
The mono box does not have all of the music the stereo box has. If you have the stereo box already, the mono box is a great companion to it from a historical standpoint. I doubt that anyone who owns the mono box will get rid of the stereo counterpart.
@dverada Yup. The stereo box has a lot more clarity if that's the right word. It sounds a lot more complete, but this Mono box just looks grand! I own the original vinyls passed down to me by my dad and those CDs right there are exact mini replicas.
I was going to get the mono box till i found out that 3 of the cds and the dvd of The Beatles are not included cause they the cds where in stereo or something so i am on with the stereo set. Yellow Submarine, Let It Be and Abbey Road along with the dvd is not included in the mono set.

That`s why from Recording Let it Be in January 1969 onwards there weren`t made any mono mixes of Beatles Recordings any more except for the Get Back/Don`t Let me Down Single released in April of `69.
But that makes the Mono Box so worthful and the stereo remaster of Abbey Road and Let it Be so mindblowing as well.
oh and pretty much all of those pics u get with stereo !! i think stereo is more of a package to have !! but im gonna pick up the monos when i have the cash...then i can compare both....

Believe it or not that's how it came. Usually Amazon packages their stuff much better than this. The merchandise was not damaged or dented, fortunately.
I am so gonna buy this next week on payday to complete The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set Limited Edition before they really disappear like thin air! Sure, the stereo versions kinda sound awful but are still okay for a reason, but I cannot wait to listen the early albums though when they sound good! I hope they release them in mono seperately in stores soon!
Amazon has it in stock now. I ordered it at the end of Sept. when it was out of stock and they had a guarantee that you'd receive it. Mine came in about 4 weeks. I don't know about other places but Amazon has it for $240.50
Mono is better, in my opinion. The Beatles had spent weeks/months mastering their albums in mono. Only to have it spread in stereo. Very poorly might I add.

@xxmag12 i love the stereo digipacks of the beatles it wows me everytime, you have to remember that 1987 is quite awhile ago, the stereo digipacks were remastered in 2009 with very high quality

actually the pictures in the booklet are in the stereo remasters, there in the packaging for past masters.

Apparently, the Yellow Submarine soundtrack, Abbey Road and Let It Be don't have any true mono mixes, so they're not on in the mono set.

They were recorded, mixed, and produced in stereo. The White album was the last one mixed in stereo and mono.

That`s why from Recording Let it Be in January 1969 onwards there weren`t made any mono mixes of Beatles Recordings any more except for the Get Back/Don`t Let me Down Single released in April of `69.
But that makes the Mono Box so worthful and the stereo remaster of Abbey Road and Let it Be so mindblowing as well.

if u like a little bit better sound quality, get mono. for all beatles albums, get stereo. but peronally, get both, even if 500 dollars is 2 much

I'm planning on buying the mono version of the box, but the fact that yellow submarine, abbey road and let it be are not included really makes me doubt. Does that mono box have enough space to fit the three albums if I buy separately? Maybe there's also some space for the Past Masters as well, is there?
I really don't care much for the DVD, but I really like the sound of the mono songs.

There is no "really" or "not really", my dear ramiroortega! After the Get Back Single in UK in April `69 there weren`t made and released any further mono mixes of the Beatles in the UK an the US.
Because back then it didn`t seem to be up to date for the Band no more. See?!

Mono Masters should be sold separately and made easily available. I would rather have this, than the original or remastered Past Masters.

ive heard both, and i like the steroeo because is like earing the songs for the first time, but the mono is texactly how they where mixed in the 60s, so i like switching stereo and mono from time to time

I am so gonna buy this next week on payday to complete The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set Limited Edition before they really disappear like thin air! Sure, the stereo versions kinda sound awful but are still okay for a reason, but I cannot wait to listen the early albums though when they sound good! I hope they release them in mono seperately in stores soon!

Amazon has it in stock now. I ordered it at the end of Sept. when it was out of stock and they had a guarantee that you'd receive it. Mine came in about 4 weeks. I don't know about other places but Amazon has it for $240.50

Mono is better, in my opinion. The Beatles had spent weeks/months mastering their albums in mono. Only to have it spread in stereo. Very poorly might I add.
