hey girls please stop this dummy argueament i'm from honduras and i know the garifuna music and peoples so u girls need to realize the musiccam85 is not from there so she's not laughing at then she's just laughting at her husband cuz of his way of dancing the local music so please everybody chill out and trust me she's not been disristpetfull in any way so please have peace and god bless u girls
No No! My family is from Honduras and we always laugh when dancing to this dance and it's totally normal to see someone dancing to something they are not used and laugh about it.....There is absolutely no offense on this! I love this I would do the same thing if I went there and I'm sure my cousins would be laughing at me not at the actual person you know. It's amazing to see different cultural come together and have fun with one another I love this dance its a fun one
I'm honduran as well I really don't know why that dude was offended its always nice seeing tourist in honduras, heck i speak to them when i'm there maybe they need advises like where to go! and if you are in Honduras you can't help but dance punta its a very captivating beat! there are just some ppl that gringos i don't see why? but MusicCam85 you are always welcomed to our country =)
just dont pay attention to all of these people im From Honduras and they know that tourist do their best when doing this kind of things.. i dont feel ofended im glad u had fun at my country!! i just loved how u moved! hahahahaha so chill this is not dsrespect for us.. there is always going to be haters hehehe hope u come and dance with them again hahaha rofl
With reading all of commments, I have to agree with roskater, in some aspect. MusicCam 85, you have to understand that this dance is a tradition sacred dance. As an example, would you go and dance with the Native's to there pow wow and have someone is the background laughing? I think this is why roskater was offend. I am glad that you had fun, but at the same time, it seems that your were poking at our culture.
p.s please excuse my grammar or my run sentences.lol
I am willing to apologize; however, if this dance is so sacred that these people would be offended at my light-hearted participation, maybe they should reserve this celebration for some place that isn't right next to a cruise ship. They came and danced here in order to make money, thus reducing the cultural significance of the dancing. It may be sacred to some in their culture, but these people apparently don't take this dance as seriously as you do. One of them even danced WITH me!
im glad u enjoyed! ... they would stop their music if they consider ur funny dance offfeeeensiiive! so dnt mind im from Honduras!! hope u come and dance again ROFL!
By the way....our culture as human beings encourage the privilege of diversity in the world. why all this batle for who's the best? or Who's not?. Guys just enjoy life and have fun without hurting anyone else including yourself. Why we have to waste our time on insignificant statements with weak basis lacking of consciousness. So sad. love my country but people like you roskater need to understand that loving our country doesn't mean to withdraw our culture away from others.
well I am from Pto cortes Honduras, love my country, love those ones who visit my land which is always going to recieve you all with love. However, I consider that any of that stuff were disrespectful in any way....I now live in Houston. The american society are very funny and lovely people. there is bad and good people in this country and I try to get away from the bad ones so...stop and erase all that grude against peolple who are just having fun. It sad to see such a stupid attitud.
musiccam85, i'm from honduras and i live in a beach tourist community full of americans...i don't think you were disrespectful at all. roskater is just bummed for whatever the reason. i feel horrible about the not touristy side of honduras, the poverty and the corruption and violence, but that is not tourists fault.honestly, i adore my country, and it breaks my heart that more people dont visit the mainland because its not as safe as the islands....
we would be great without the cruiseship, they only make a certain group of people on the island money, the foreign investor is where money is brought into the island, you wouldnt have seen any of them though they stay away on cruiseship days because there are so many asshole on them.
the punta dance has its own special meaning, and it is actual supposed to be solemn. but there's also commercialized punta, which WE HONDURAS dance like morons too (bailar lo de la banda blanca no nos hace ver como los seres mas serios del mundo, pero es pijudo y todo mundo la pasa bien....)so i'm glad you had fun on our island, come again, and roskater....si no le gusta su trabajo compadre...busquese otro y deje de echarle la culpa a los demas si andas de resentido! los caracoles son un dolor!
I am Cam's Aunt and I will have you know that he was actually there with his father to help install wells and assist the people. He felt moved by the music and danced! There is no better way to show appreciation for such a beautiful country or the freedoms we Americans are priviliged to have. I love you Cam....dance away!
I'm sorry you dread us, but what would your economy be like without the tourism industry? It stinks because you've brought out the worst in me, but I'm actually a very loving person. Before you lump me in as a "typical american", remember that you started this convo by insulting me. I've been wrong many times in my life, but the most effective way I've been righted is with love, not hatred and harsh words.
typical american, judging my run on sentence, but ignoring the fact that you made an ass of yourself. While you may arrogantly think you are in the right, as someone who has to deal with cruisshippers every day, trust me your a moron and dread your type on the island.
I'm not sure where you're getting this "walking behind them", "dancing behind him" stuff, because I went out to dance with the lady in the pink (that you see me dancing with) and I danced with her, not behind her. However, if I did offend her then I do feel bad because that wasn't my intent. Funny how you ignored everthing I said in my first response--now who's being blind to themself?
p.s. Your whole response was a run-on sentence. That doesn't lend much credibility.
you were just having fun at someone elses expense, what do you think the person who has to that dance thinks of you walking behind them, I can tell you not to much, I see every day, none of us like to look in a mirror when the reflection is bad, so take a look a brother because it was humiliating and insulting to the person doing that dance to take home 100 lempiras for the day and on top of it have some moron from the states dancing behind him.
what a moron, I live in roatan and we love it when the cruise ship people act like this making it so tough for americans here trying to build relationships, act like a dick somewhere else.
I was just having fun. A word to the wise: if you were genuinely concerned about building relationships, you wouldn't call people names and treat them with such disrespect. I think calling me a "dick" hurts relations more than me dancing with one of your natives. I've been to Moramulca and Tegucilgalpa on missions trips, and my family has actually done a lot to build relationships with native Hondurans. I appreciate your concern for your people though.
@roskater build relationships or steal land? do me a favor... go back to america and take all of your self righteous, greedy, evil countrymen with you. you people are only about exploitation. yeah, build relationships my ass.
You did great.
