  • Fun Fact: this scene was ad libed, the taxi driver ignored the "filming in progress" sign and drove onto the set.

  • I guess it was time for a colorful metaphor...

  • Hahahahahahaah! xD I laugh at this EVERY TIME! <3

  • a close second to "The Picard will be pleased"

  • My dad has an autographed picture of William Shatner and on it William wrote "Double dumb ass on you!"

  • It's funny because of the gratuitous obnoxiousness of the driver. He says "dumbass" with the same pitch and inflection Beavis and Butthead would have used.

  • Part IV was without a doubt the movie that got the ball rolling with humor in the Star Trek franchise.

  • @KEYSERSOZE1965 The Original Series had it's fair share of humorous moments already. In fact, Nimoy's idea for this movie was to bring back the lightheartedness of the old show after doing mostly darker dramatic films.

  • LOL! Double dumbass on you... Another good part of this movie is the ''nuclear wessels.''

  • I LOVE this movie's accurare portrayal of San FUCKCISCO!

  • This keeps showing up in my recommended. ^^

  • Featuring leftover music from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack.

  • So awkward!!!!!!

  • 2 people are dumbasses

  • one of the best Star Trek moments ever! In fact, this whole movie is full of great quotes!

  • the perfect retort to red foreman

  • taxi driver wouldve got fucked up by kirk

  • His first mission into the Matrix, and he is already being called a double dumbass by captain Kirk....

    Poor Cypher!

  • @SonOfTanit OMG!!! I never realized it was him until you said that!

  • You know that as soon as the cab driver popped his head back in his car, he was thinking, "Waaaait.... "

  • is it time for a colorful metaphor?

  • Next time someone calls me dumbass I'm gonna say this. They won't get it but I will and it'll be funny.

  • Jim, if you think people can't drive in San Francisco, you ought to see Boston!

And New Jersey, sad to say...

  • Flavored Farsi? xD I LURVE YOUR TAGS!

  • WHAT WERE THE TAXI FARES IN 1986?

  • funny, it's seems like a period piece now. since it's 25 years old and such

  • Haha, still my favourite scene. :)

  • Pejarotive words are very illogical.

  • wow, listen to the cab driver. This is so obviously San Fran.

  • I guess the driver was angry 'cause he's not paid much. How much were SF taxi drivers paid back in '86?

  • So many fun quotes from that movie... we repeat many of them in our family. Mention a crappy movie, book, or author, and we say " ... Ah yes! The Giants!" (from on the bus... in the same scene.) Great movie :)

  • Gotta love a good wisecrack from James T. Kirk! :)

    "Double dumbass on you!!!"

  • Who's the actor who played the driver?

  • I hope someone calls me a dumbass in a public place, and I will yell Kirk's famous line in response.

  • funny as hell love this clip so much lol lmao rontheflmao haha.

  • What was the title of that song playing?

  • kirtwood smith should have been the driver!

  • Good thing this wasn't Picard...

Taxi Driver: "Watch were your goin you dumbass!"

Picard: "NO! NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! **smash** For years, taxi drivers tell us to watch were we are going, and we fall back. They charge passengers expensive fares, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn HYAH!! This far, no further!!"

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN I like your screen name

  • @trekkie4life66 Thankyou. Its not bad is it? :)

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN It's awesome! <3 it!

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN You are my hero :)

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN Just out of curiosity, how would Sisko, Janeway, and Archer react in this situation?

  • @EltonvonCthulhu Err... let me get back to you... :-D

  • One of the greatest lines in all of cinema. "double dumbass on you" hahahaha

  • I remember Winchells Donuts!

  • Bokashaya, you tell'em admiral!!!

  • this is what i tell my husband when he calls me a dumbass

  • its what i tell my husband when he calls me a dumbass :D

  • whats the music called

  • @TheArbiter138 The song is called Market Street, and it's by the jazz fusion group "The Yellowjackets." And I agree with mug7703, it is damn funky! Check it out on the Star Trek IV soundtrack.

  • Hes using those colorful metaphors again... xD

  • Driver-"watch where ya goin dumbass!"

    Shatner-"KAAAAAAAAAAHHHN!!!!!!!!"

    Driver-"woah......" *speeds away*

  • @scortch30

  • @bbasher79 think you're right mate! lol. good spot. double 'finger' for cabby!

  • @bbasher79

Not really. He just raised his hands in anger.

  • Comment removed

  • How much did it cost to ride a cab back then? $1/mile?

  • Very 80s, LOL!

  • Ohh! Burn!

  • And later on Kirk and the gang are in desperate need of Quatloos. :)

  • I LOVE this movie! It's my favorite. :)

  • Double dumbass on you

    You tell 'im, Kirk!

  • well double dumbass on you! KHHAAAANNN!

  • Tell that bitchfuck Kirk.

  • One of my favourite quotes in the movie and the Voyage Home is the best Star Trek movie ever made :)

  • I saw this movie in the theater when it first came out in December 1986. I must have seen it 3 or 4 times in the theater because I liked it so much.

  • Pwned.

  • Nice music in the backround lol

  • Yh it was well suited

  • Great scene!

The white taxi driver dates it somewhat...

  • It pretty much died with Beavis & Butthead

  • Guys... .break it up. You look like a cadet review!

  • No one expects this to be Nimoy's style.

But by Jim! He has such a charming film style. Just like in Three Men and a Baby.

  • They fit in the image of San Francisco so well, it's awesome.

  • epic win.

  • Greatest. Comback. Ever!

  • This is wonderful.

Leonard Nimoy directed this brilliantly and the script is fantastic and the acting (yes. Even, and especially shatner's) is beautiful.

  • omg...this looks like such a fun movie!!

  • it is, actually!

  • It is - it's the best of all the Star Trek movies, because it's funny as all get-out and such a breath of fresh air. If you're interested in Star Trek, I highly recommend this movie.

  • don't mess with the captain!!

  • You know you're cool when you walk across the street wearing those things! xD

  • Kirk don't play XD

  • STAR TREK TOS FTW!!!!

oh, yeah...I'm 19 and I've been a fan of the Star Trek Series ever since I was six years old when I saw Star Trek: First Contact!!!!

  • Wow, I'm old... I remember being in 7th grade when First Contact came out, LOL.

  • You're NOT old... believe me...

Both my parents are 43...and THEY CLAIM THEY'RE OLD.

  • This always ranked high in my favorite Trek quotes. :D

I couldn't believe it when I called my mother a dumbass, and she said "Well a double dumbass on you!" Oh the agony, I laughed so hard I forgot we were fighting.

  • @Grykus7 you're a dumbass for calling your mother a dumbass.

  • LOL

  • You can use this approach when someone yells at you, and if they like Star Trek they will immediately stop being angry.

  • It's too bad nobody in my generation likes the original Star Trek. Haha.

  • Right there with ya.

  • Dunno what your generation is, but I'm 17 and I love it, does that count? :P

  • Yeah, I know. It's so cheesy that it's good. They don't make them like that any more. I liked the new movie though.

  • ya your generation bites lol no offense

  • Yeah, I think I'm becoming elitist cause I saw the original movies about a decade before the new one came out (thought it is good).

  • im 15, and i love star trek, does that count? =P

  • thats great, Im 17, and it does count,

whatever your age, it doesnt stop you from enjoying star trek,

besides, not many of my friends watch star trek, lol

  • @CatAtomic99 And if they don't like Star Trek, they're an asshole anyway so fuck them.

  • @CatAtomic99 Is that right? Thanks. Maybe I should use this approach when someone attempts to run me over or interfere in my right of way when they're driving--and I follow the crosswalk lights.

  • haha nice job fitting in, guys!

  • I love the fact that they're all wearing their traditional uniforms, while Chekov is being all stylish with the leather jacket. Funny as hell to me, and yet adorable at the same time.

  • @FreakyDeakyMia - I'm just happy he didn't start screaming.

  • LOL I loved some of the lines from this movie they jsut made me laugh out loud, it was great :D

  • Star Trek IV was the funniest ST movies of all.

  • I think so!!

  • Chris Pine is a great actor but William Shatner will always be the true captain Kirk!

  • Aren't we Earthlings lucky - we now have TWO terrific Kirks.

And two Spocks, two Chekovs, two Sulus...

  • True i will always like William Shatner though he rocks.

  • There'll only ever be one of each IMO!

Mind you...there might be two of me...who knows...

  • SHIIIIIIIT, that man was just owned.

  • lol. i love kirk/shatner.

  • you know who should have been the taxi driver kurtwood smith :D he should have said it to kirk.

  • amen to that brother red is the king of the word dumbass

  • yeah and its a shame he had quite a few times to say it too :(

  • Notice Kirk doing something with his hands in the end maybe flipping off the driver.

    Driver F8%$ You.

Kirk F You too bud! F YOU TOO!!

  • Don't piss Kirk off.

  • the background music is so 80's

  • So cool. :)

  • Wjy didn't you just sing him a song, Kirk? I'm sure he'd hit the gas and get the hell out of there

  • Hmmm.... never knew we ever had a Winchell's in Downtown S.F. ......

  • I Love it! XDD

  • That boppy sax music is the worst thing about the 80s. Back then you couldn't get away from saxophone. I would go so far as to call it the instrument of the decade if not for the keyboard synthesizer.

  • it carried well-on into the 1990's... *shudders*

  • but still the 80's and 90's ruled and were just the best, not like this decade.

  • i see where you're coming from, but I happen to love it :) it makes me nostalgic. A lot of 80's movies and tv themes used that style too and kinds of cheer me up when I hear it.

I happen to play a little bass and the slap bass from 80's show tunes sound really cool to me too.

  • Me too! :)

  • Spock looks hilarious crossing that road

  • ROFL, the music makes this so perfect :D.

  • well go screw yourself because most people 9 out of 10 love the 80s. especially people my age love the 80s but even people 10 years younger or more than me love the 80s. get a life

  • dude we both have no life, were watching videos about star trek, cmon...

  • hahahahahahaaham nice

  • Touché

  • this is still one of the funniest moments in the movie!

  • Well, William Shatner *is* Canadian...sounds like the sort of thing a Canuck would say :P

  • Well, this scene could also double as Toronto, just has that feel to it.

  • amen, brother.

  • Have you ever heard William Shatner say eh when he talks? I haven't. It would sound hilarious if he did.

  • Hahaha love this scene indeed the best part of the film and the most remembered part. Thanx! :)

  • i just left this on my friends voicemail.

  • HAHAHA Pricless!!

  • that it some serious 80's-ass music

  • I laughed so hard at that point. XD Kirk gets so into "fitting in".

The whole movie was like "A Piece of the Action", only with a plot.

  • that sounds like Bill Paxton playing the cab driver but I cant see his face that well to know for sure, cause of the shadow across it

  • Great comeback!

  • If someone actually said that to me, after I had almost hit them with my car, I'd undo the 'almost'.

  • North Beach!

  • Best insult ever!!

  • And best come-back ever! XD

  • I double-dog dumbass you.

  • I triple - dog dumbass you, dude.

  • Christmas Story lol
