HOWEVER it does matter if it means that they have to rip out content to make it fit into the smaller DVD discs rather than the bigger blueray, like they had to do with GTA 4 which meant that the game sucked in terms of extra content.. and on top of that they added xbox only downloadable extensions... so thats unfair..

Final Fantasy has never been exclusive to any platform really. It started on Nintendo, and is still continuing on Nintendo to this day with all the handheld titles they're releasing.
If you're counting the main games, then its half and half. Nintendo got Final Fantasy I-VI while Sony got Final Fantasy VII-XII. Your reasoning on why FF should be exclusive to sony is flawed and makes me wonder if you're just another PS3 fanboy.

As for which game looks better, its a bit subjective. Versus looks very dark and depressing while XIII looks like another rebel vs empire game. However, XIII showed gameplay and Versus showed cutscenes... I still can't make a judgement yet until I have tried both games.
To each their own I guess. I happen to find the Rebel vs Empire struggle to work fairly well... its a universal struggle that most of us could relate to. Dark and depressing games sometimes turn me off, although pull through when done properly. Characters need a reason to be anti-social nut jobs I find, and sometimes this can work or it can't.

Yeah VII and VIII are the latest non mmo Final Fantasys to be released on the PC and was released by EA Games [surprise surprise]. Hard to find these days besides on ebay.
I think it shows Square-Enix's is a little scared of the PS3's sales potential
They know the system isnt doing as well as expected, they know this game is heavily anticipated and Sony's banking on it's success

I agree. But it shouldn't have been in the actual series. It was set in Ivalice, the world that the FF Tactics series takes place in. By shoving something like that into the main series, and especially after the failure of X-2 and XI, Square sunk deeper into 'death'. Heck now they're barely hanging on because they spend so much time on FF remakes and other games and not on FFXIII and KH games. And thats where their real money comes from.

they made f.f.7 into a movie and done a dam good job,though it didnt go along completely with the game. why dont they have the monsters throughout the movie like in the game. but onto the reason im commenting ,they should make f.f.8 into a movie and go as much along with the game as possible. after i seen f.f.7 ive been wishing that they would make f.f.8 into a movie ,half the movie is made already in the game and eventually make all the f.f.'s into movies would be awsome.

13 is on both the ps3 and xbox, its multiplatformed, ps is getting their copy first, then its gonna come to the xbox .. so ps gets 13 and 13 versus, and xbox gets 13
yeah, I dont get tied up in the stupid console war, I like all 3 consloles and I wish I had each. But I think playing a FF game on a playstation is how its meant to be, to me its part of the experience. I wouldnt like to see Halo on PS3, even though I love the Halo series.

In japan yes but not in NA or EU. Both getting same time thus mean we wont see this till end of 2009 or 2010. Yeah, I liked it. But the license system nearly ruined the game for me. I like strategy as much as the next guy, but the outcome of a game shouldn't be as dependent on the right spells, armor or skills- and acquiring them, as 12 was. More time spent in action and less time stressing over what to spend my License Points for please.
I for one, miss the sphere grid, and I wish I could have gotten the international version and used the expert sphere grid (Everyone starts in same place, you decide what to do with them)...
I did like the gambits, but the classic battle system will never die.
Yeah I didnt like the license board either, but I did really like the fact that any character could use any weapon. I would like for them to keep that in some way.
I have to be pessimistic after FFX it kinda went downhill with their attempt at an MMORPG and the attempt at a One Player MMORPG that was FF12... and they're just turning the once great battle system slowly into a shooter series.
Besides they should just remake FFVII. I don't care what people say, whether they are or aren't, I DON'T CARE, I said that they SHOULD, and not screw with anything, Square should go back and just remake the graphics, everything else was absolutely fantastic.

It's still pretty early to tell what kind of battle system versus will have, but regarding FF13 I think the battle system might be similar to valkyrie profile due to the fact of an ATB gauge. Since the creators of KH is doing versus it could have similar gameplay or perhaps a completely different gameplay from KH.
Actually if you go on wiki there's a quote that says:"will be a realistic derivation of Kingdom Hearts battle system with some elements of a third-person shooter - similar to Square Enix's Dirge of Cerberus."
I agree. But I don't know how it would work now since you can see the enemies before you attack them so there'd be like a hundred of them running around seeing as the world map was sort of in miniature form. Maybe if they made bigger plains to run around in, instead of the restricted tunnel-like areas in eg. FF12. Like the big desert area after you go through the eastern canyon area in 12, if you remember that. It was pretty big and open. More areas like that between cities and it's all good.

The old FF's really use alot of strategy. For eg. in FFVIII your enemies strength is determined by your party's average level. So, if all of them are at level 100, your enemies will be a challenege. Assassin's Creed is not an RPG, so it's length of gameplay does not match with FF. Plus, there's always extra dungeons, secrets, etc. in FF. Not only does it help your characters and gets u rare items, but it deepens the story, and u'll hve alot more fun. RPG=Discovery.
Hope this is a gd one.. love all the Final Fantasies but its sad that you cant run around the world anymore.. :/ FF 9 was the last one to have this. Take it back Square! :)

I barely understood you but I agree completely. Finding Oden in that temple in 8, the fat dudes bog in FF9, fun stuff. The deap sea research center in 8 was slick too.
hmm.. i liked the mini-games and other things but, for example.. having a lot of missions in Crisis Core where most of them don't produce any real effect on the story (some of them enables u to receive mails from story characters) just sucks...
Or those long sidequest to get the last weapon (chocobo side quest on FFIX)

I've played every final fantasy game myself, I know what the originals are like. If you don't like 12 it's because you're too deadset on the old games and can't adapt to a new and ingenuitive system.
I personally didn't like 12 because you could set the gambits up and basically sit back and watch while your characters kills everything. Although turn-based did have a pattern I preferred that. Actually though, I think the battle system in KH and KHII is the best - basically like FF12 but without the gambits. And I *know* you can turn gambits off in XII but yeah, I still didn't like the game, mainly cos it lacked a good story and the character development was rubbish.
Very respectable answer =D. My take on 12 is a little biased, I myself only played a few hours of it. I didn't have the time to play it in depth when I had it and only rented it, but my cousin played and beat the game and loved it so that's where my liking of the game comes from. I never actually got into gambits or the entire character development system much.

Well, it's not like they're purposely making it a male character to be stereotypical, it's just relatively easier to create plot lines for a male main character, because many of them have already been done and just need to be remade to fit in with the newer standards.

My opinion is that it probably won't be better than VII, at least plot-wise. Definitely graphic-wise, on the other hand. If the plot, characters and combat system are livable, then it's all good. :) There's no way that a FF game can be a seriously epic fail anyway... to much of a solid fan-base. :P

I think it shows Square-Enix's is a little scared of the PS3's sales potential
They know the system isnt doing as well as expected, they know this game is heavily anticipated and Sony's banking on it's success
they know they cant make a dull game cause the last two didnt come off that well, so they gotta pour a lot of $ in this one
But they also know they should try to release it on 360 so they can capture the other side of U.S. buyers in case it dont sell as much as they want it to on the PS3.

I agree. But it shouldn't have been in the actual series. It was set in Ivalice, the world that the FF Tactics series takes place in. By shoving something like that into the main series, and especially after the failure of X-2 and XI, Square sunk deeper into 'death'. Heck now they're barely hanging on because they spend so much time on FF remakes and other games and not on FFXIII and KH games. And thats where their real money comes from.
I think the FF XIII games will be like FFI- make or break

they made f.f.7 into a movie and done a dam good job,though it didnt go along completely with the game. why dont they have the monsters throughout the movie like in the game. but onto the reason im commenting ,they should make f.f.8 into a movie and go as much along with the game as possible. after i seen f.f.7 ive been wishing that they would make f.f.8 into a movie ,half the movie is made already in the game and eventually make all the f.f.'s into movies would be awsome.

13 is on both the ps3 and xbox, its multiplatformed, ps is getting their copy first, then its gonna come to the xbox .. so ps gets 13 and 13 versus, and xbox gets 13

yeah, I dont get tied up in the stupid console war, I like all 3 consloles and I wish I had each. But I think playing a FF game on a playstation is how its meant to be, to me its part of the experience. I wouldnt like to see Halo on PS3, even though I love the Halo series.

In japan yes but not in NA or EU. Both getting same time thus mean we wont see this till end of 2009 or 2010. All the time exclusive for xbox 360 from other load of crap publishers n developer makes me sick. I feel like nuying all there game used an not pay full price to support them. Ill only buy games thats not delay or time exclusive. This hole war crap has falling apart. Xbox 360 + RPG is like a sitting duck. We use to see 1-2 RPG a month sence PS2 now its like 2-3 RPG a year.

Yeah, I liked it. But the license system nearly ruined the game for me. I like strategy as much as the next guy, but the outcome of a game shouldn't be as dependent on the right spells, armor or skills- and acquiring them, as 12 was. More time spent in action and less time stressing over what to spend my License Points for please.

I for one, miss the sphere grid, and I wish I could have gotten the international version and used the expert sphere grid (Everyone starts in same place, you decide what to do with them)...
I did like the gambits, but the classic battle system will never die.

I have to be pessimistic after FFX it kinda went downhill with their attempt at an MMORPG and the attempt at a One Player MMORPG that was FF12... and they're just turning the once great battle system slowly into a shooter series.
Besides they should just remake FFVII. I don't care what people say, whether they are or aren't, I DON'T CARE, I said that they SHOULD, and not screw with anything, Square should go back and just remake the graphics, everything else was absolutely fantastic.

It's still pretty early to tell what kind of battle system versus will have, but regarding FF13 I think the battle system might be similar to valkyrie profile due to the fact of an ATB gauge. Since the creators of KH is doing versus it could have similar gameplay or perhaps a completely different gameplay from KH.

I agree. But I don't know how it would work now since you can see the enemies before you attack them so there'd be like a hundred of them running around seeing as the world map was sort of in miniature form. Maybe if they made bigger plains to run around in, instead of the restricted tunnel-like areas in eg. FF12. Like the big desert area after you go through the eastern canyon area in 12, if you remember that. It was pretty big and open. More areas like that between cities and it's all good.

The old FF's really use alot of strategy. For eg. in FFVIII your enemies strength is determined by your party's average level. So, if all of them are at level 100, your enemies will be a challenege. Assassin's Creed is not an RPG, so it's length of gameplay does not match with FF. Plus, there's always extra dungeons, secrets, etc. in FF. Not only does it help your characters and gets u rare items, but it deepens the story, and u'll hve alot more fun. RPG=Discovery.

hmm.. i liked the mini-games and other things but, for example.. having a lot of missions in Crisis Core where most of them don't produce any real effect on the story (some of them enables u to receive mails from story characters) just sucks...
Or those long sidequest to get the last weapon (chocobo side quest on FFIX)
Although fighting Ultima in ffX is awesome.
Another thing i hated on RPGs was the turn.. it was too slow... the new systems are cooler, in my opinion

Crisis core is very cool.. but i would prefer that u could move around in the map like XII and not only in a certain area design for the battle

From what they said at the preview, looks like these graphics are in-game cutscenes.. so the graphics are the same as the game. They really pushing PS3 system to the limit

Most RPG games are now trying to be innovitve with the advancement in computing graphics.
I personally prefaired oldschool rpg's with crummyer graphics but more freedom to explore as you wish.

I've played every final fantasy game myself, I know what the originals are like. If you don't like 12 it's because you're too deadset on the old games and can't adapt to a new and ingenuitive system.

I personally didn't like 12 because you could set the gambits up and basically sit back and watch while your characters kills everything. Although turn-based did have a pattern I preferred that. Actually though, I think the battle system in KH and KHII is the best - basically like FF12 but without the gambits. And I *know* you can turn gambits off in XII but yeah, I still didn't like the game, mainly cos it lacked a good story and the character development was rubbish.

Very respectable answer =D. My take on 12 is a little biased, I myself only played a few hours of it. I didn't have the time to play it in depth when I had it and only rented it, but my cousin played and beat the game and loved it so that's where my liking of the game comes from. I never actually got into gambits or the entire character development system much.

I have played most final fantasy games and I actually love both styles of game play.
Twelve was quite a love or hate game because it was different, but the new style is here to stay. SQUARE will probibly use both styles for now on.

You people need to keep up with the news man! It's coming out in 2010. It got delayed by SQEX in May this year, the new date is Early 2010!
Dragon Quest IX comes out on DS in December 2008 or January 2009. FFXIII has been DELAYED!

Well, it's not like they're purposely making it a male character to be stereotypical, it's just relatively easier to create plot lines for a male main character, because many of them have already been done and just need to be remade to fit in with the newer standards.

Hm. A lot of people seem to think that a female in the leading role will make the game suck. That's annoying, but people are intitled to their own opinions. >.>
My opinion is that it probably won't be better than VII, at least plot-wise. Definitely graphic-wise, on the other hand. If the plot, characters and combat system are livable, then it's all good. :) There's no way that a FF game can be a seriously epic fail anyway... to much of a solid fan-base. :P
