Good rant, I thought I would hate it but you were very evenhanded, I like that. Blowshimselfupdude is one of those guys that associated those two terrible characters with a race, so, if anything, he's a racist, and everyone else that did the same.
If people are saying that these two charecters are racist cuz they are representing a stereotype, then I think optimus prime is offencive cuz hes representing the Intelegent average white male and is offencive to women because hes not a girl. Also, the dude with the big guns is offencive to white guys with little ______ because hes OBVIOUSLY over compensating!
yall white people dont understand quick question what race mostly talk street black people who white people use to say look like monkeys black people who use to cant read black people and who r u to say this is not a stereotype
That's the problem, If your going to make a movie about alien freaking robots beating the crap out of each other, give it a 90 minute run-time. Not ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY!!!
But im actually going to disagree with this, there are dozens of examples of things where people make something out of nothing, see racism where it doesn't exist. In THIS case I thought those complaints were justified, that film was racist as hell.
So what they were naturally drawn to hip-hop because of their massive lips?
I completely disagree with the racist thing. If rappers can talk and act like this and be applauded, then why can't they.Although I didn't like the fact they couldn't read.I can understand why people think they look like monkeys, but the intention was to be goofy for kids.
Wow, thank you Rantee! You know, I was at first feeling I should be offended by this characters, something just felt off. But you really cleared a lot of things up for me. If they choice to be dumb asses, that's they're right. Perfectly put.
Whatever happen to that old catchphrase that our parents used to say to us when we were younger, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" Sometimes I do weep for the future of this planet, but perhaps hope may come along in due time.
Btw fury, thanks for the rant. You're an individual that seems to be a rare breed nowadays. Full of common sense and one whom doesn't have a stick stuck up the ass like most people nowadays.
Its shit like this why I don't even bother taking sensitively offended people serious nowadays because they always bitch and moan like we're still stuck in the 50s, on how they're still being oppressed by the man, though actors like Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones seem to prove otherwise. I've seen some Italian and Hispanic stereotypes (both good and bad) throughout my day and yet I'm not offended, probably because they're worst things going on in this world.
i thought i had to go up to those stupid critics and explain to them how these robots are NOT racist. well, you did it for us. its nice knowing that we have some smart movie watchers these days...
bloodrunsclear, understand there is a difference between sharing an opinion and being an annoying prick that challenges everyone who enjoyed this film.this is what you did, maybe you didn't realize it.This kind of attitude I don't put up with, you provoked people by making them feel like they were wrong for feeling the way they did when they saw this film and you had the nerve to say I was insulting with my passive aggresive comments.
you need to learn to speak and learn to share an opinion.scroll back and look at how your conversations went, you'll see you directly challenged everything everyone said.I didn't create this channel to promote negativity. I love movies, ALL kinds of movies and I give reviews to promote this hobby. That's what makes me a film fan, sometime's i'll rip on a movie but you'll mostly hear what works rather than what doesn't. So , keep making those fake trailers buddy, reach for those stars.
The problem is that Skids and Mudflap are annyoing. When something is annoying, people tend to look for other problems. Most educated people are familiar with racial stereotypes, and these two remind enough people of those stereotypes to make comparisons. When I saw the movie, before I read any reviews, I found the two annoying and in the theater I started to notice similarities to ghetto stereotypes. I wan't personally offended as much as I recognized how they could be offensive.
However, I still consider Skids and Mudflap to be the most irritating characters I've ever seen, and they did destroy the movie for me. Maybe I'm just noticing the stereotypes because they pissed me off anyway. Case in point: I liked Jar Jar Binks, and I couldn't figure out why everyone found him racially offensive for a long time. But he did annoy a lot of other people...
i agree with you that there is a difference between being steriotypical and being racist, but these 2 were steriotypical, i personally think. i wasnt offended by it, i just thought it was kinda unnesecary and uncalled for, like, it wasnt funny, it doesnt add to the story, so the only purpose i can assume is that its there is to offend people
The characters may not be racist as such but they were extremely offensive and omnipresent.
They were negative stereotypes in a movie filled with scenes whose sole purpose was to say "look at the foreigners aren't they funny with their silly accents and stupid faces" e.g.bucktooth guy, small egyptian
Negative qualities are usually assigned to black people because most black people are negative reflections of any community. Im not saying all black people suck, but most of them do. Gold teeth is a point of pride for most blacks. Most blacks have a hard time reading. Most black LOVE hiphop. And shit I cant tell the difference between an ape and a Black person. I think our current president is Dr. Zayus from planet of the apes.
WOW! I guess idiots can type. It's funny how you can't tell the difference between a black person and an ape when it's white people who have the hairy backs.
Yeah I agree it's nice to see you can type. Did it take you long to learn? I agree white people suck hard too, but hey at least they dont sling there own poo at each other like mokeys do.
Don't compare Groening's stereotypical parodies to actual stereotypes. Look at the black kid from Transformers 2. He's loud, and he's obnoxious. Groening is showing us how ridiculous stereotypical accusations are, while Michael Bay is basing whole characters off of them.
To be onest, and i havent heard anyone point this out, if we didnt have stereotypes we wouldnt have characters in general. Everyone would be the same bland and blank without personalities. Stereotypes are paradies of reality not pure fiction, they are warped mirror images of society and give us insight into the world around us for better or worst.
Rantee brought up a good point. While everyone called foul on these two dumbass robots, no one says anything when Bumblebee-Man, Asian real estate lady, or Flanders turning into a Christian hypocrite appears on screen. These characters have a lot more depth, history-wise, but it is what it is.
But these characters are meant to be parodies of stereotypes, and this is made clear by the writing. Also, Groening has presented characters of the same races / minority groups who aren't stereotypes.
AFAIK, with nearly all of Bay's portrayals of minority characters, particularly blacks, he consistently applies stereotypical behavior to them.
Its a convincing argument, but I dont think it holds Fury. Calling someone on their irresponsible use of negative stereotypes is an obligation that good people have, and I dont think us shedding light on how Michael Bay views minorites make one a racist. And alos, if this was the only time Bay used a stereotype like this, I could go along with you, but he does stuff like this in almost every movie. The only reason its arguable this time is he made a CGI character...(cont. below)
look stupid instead of a real-African American actor. Look at TR1. The "smartest hacker in the world" or whatever was still a ghetto stereotype that said "see, no matter how smart an AA is, they'll always be ghetto." This is how MB looks at minorities and he is consistent about it.
You make a very good point, Glenn was, after all was said and done, still portrayed as living with his grandma in a presumably poor neighborhood, even with limitless options in front of him.
james, who were the people to point out that these 2 robots were negative stereotypes. Because from what I see the people pointing out the reason they are negative can be applied to ANY race I didn't see anything that specifically pointed to one single race.
You may have have had a point if this was MB's only movie. But my comment had more to do with overall context and the fact that MB includes negative racial stereotypes in all of his movies. I normally find you to be very insightful but your way off here. I know the animated robots dont actually have a race, but will you PLEASE look at what he does to minorities in all his other movies and at least give us the credit of taking things in context.. Sorry, but this video get no fury award
ok Fair enough, Your comment has inspired me to get to the bottom of this. Revenge of the Fallen movie aside I will go through every Bay film with a fine comb and note down every stereotyped character. If there's more black stereotypes than other races I will officially call bay a racist.
As for Rantee, take him with a grain of salt, hes a persona meant to incite discussion, A fury rant is very different than a Rantee rant. Rantee is only on because I owe him money.
Yes. But keep in mind... ahem... Everyone's a little bit racist Today. So, everyone's a little bit racist Okay! Ethinic jokes might be uncouth, But you laugh because They're based on truth. Don't take them as Personal attacks. Everyone enjoys them - So relax! - Avenue Q, Everyone's a Little Bit Racist
no the racism was that one of these robot was foiced by the guy that voiced spongebob so its baskicly a white person going "hey nigger was up" and so forth witch is racist so yh there were racist now i dont think that michle bay i racist i just think skid and muflap were poor cherecter coises
so you're telling me the only people who ever talk "gangster" and "hip hop" are black people? and I am positive the N-word was never even close to being used. poor character choices you bet, racist? I don't think so.
thats what i keep telling ppl but no one even listens, fury ur the first person that understands now bout the characters. just cause they talk like that ppl start to point and say its based off a black person. and QFT the n-word was NEVER used
no im not saing that only black people talk hip hop or gangster im just saing when a white person starts saing " you need to stop akting like a pussy you honky man" that was a line in the film and he does this in a african american acsent and toatally steriotipe a race you cant help but find it abit afending
ps. im a fan your your reviews and rants and i also like Rantee the Ranter this is not me trying to pick a fight i just thought that the charecters were abit affending
That's what the rants are for, to spark discussions. the only time i'm offended is when someone 1 stars my vid just because they don't like what's being said.
Although I agree with everything in this rant there is one awfull flaw. That voice! Why can't we have the same point done by fury's original voice? Do you think mr. Blacks review would have become popular if his voice sucked? Stop this madness please.
Rantee, I 100% agree with you about that, and to clear something up, It was Cybertorion they couldn't read, never said anything about English or any other Earth Language.
Usually I think your right but I dont really agree with you here. While racism is too strong a word and is thrown around far too much nowadays, it is clear that Skid and Mudflap reflect the surface stereotypes of the black community. While they do get their personalities from popculture, I doubt Michael Bay had the insight to expose how racially damaging popular hip-hop culture is through these two robots He obviously chose to have them talk "street" cause it sounded funny, and thats insensitive
My point's exactly! To all of you who think Skids and Mudflap are racist, go see South Park's "Chef Goes Nanners" where Chef realizes that thinking things are racist is just another form of racism.
My friend totally flipped out on me for that reason man, when i told him we should go see Crank 2 he said that the movie was **** because it had no story, but i still went and saw it because it was still crazy great entertainment.
great video man, i agree with you, i got friends that are black, white, asian ect. What i found funny about this is that the only people that i know that found those robots offensive were white. Seems some people are just trying to find stuff they can call racist
Thats the kind of excuses that prevent movies from even trying anymore. Is all we want fluff, no attempts at characterization or story? We've sent that message to H-Wood, and now their jobs are much easier. Expect the safest, dumbest, loudest, and most CGI packed shlock fests in the years to come.
would you guys say Crank or Crank 2 has plot? nope, no characterization or story and it was still fun as hell. Again, not every movie needs to be deep.saying this is not an excuse.
Fury if the first person, sending that message to H-Wood. hes not giving excuses for this movie, the point is, you cant try any harder, there's not much to build from this particular franchise
Go back and read what you wrote...'You can't try any harder'
That's called making excuses! You CAN build on this franchise, because they did so in the original cartoon. They could add character and more interactions. They could try to make the jokes funny. They could add back-story that made sense and try to to include an honest moral investigation.
Hey, they did it for a ninja rich guy in a bat costume, even when people said THAT couldn't try harder...
excuse me but this is a movie franchise, its way different then the cartoon crap that they force feed kids these days, and they weren't any better back in the 90s either as i remember. and did you even watch the movie? this movie was way better then the mess they made the first time around, they focused on a big back story from the beginning middle and end, who cares about the jokes! interaction and character could have been fixed if they dropped the twines, movie was great, go watch it again
The original movie was CGI crack with lousy jokes, a nonsensical story, annoying characters, with only an epic soundtrack to tie it together. The problem I have with the sequel is that, as bad as the first movie was, at least we could pretend it was trying since it was the first film. The second was lazy, more expensive, melodramatic, over long, and inexcusable. There's no backstory without the cartoon or toys at all. Its not improved from the cartoon, its dumbed down, louder, and more colorful.
do your self a favor and put down the thesaurus, realize that what you want from this movie franchise your not going to get because its not possible with out making it a huge series, and i don't want to see transformers 5 and 6 role around because you might as well make a cartoon, which they did, and it sucked, all of them! there has to be a separation and yes this movie couldn't be possible with out the cartoon but from all the bad episodes, they took the best and made a really good film.
A person cannot in all honesty say the original cartoon sucked without applying the same standards to the recent films, which are every bit as cheesy, badly written, poorly acted, and nonsensical. Keep a consistent set of standards please.
I'm not saying you can't enjoy the movies, but you cannot call them good films because they are not, by any standard except as mindless entertainment. They are no better or worse then Commando, except they have a bigger effects budget to mask the plotholes.
my sets of standards are fine, comparing the movie to the cartoons which are two totally different things is what makes no sense, your saying that because the cartoon sucks the movie has to? the movie was well made and it was good, you hatting on it doesn't make it a bad film
So...the cartoon sucks for reasons that cannot be compared to the film versions at all?
I'm not trying to suggest that the film is bad only because I say it is. I'm saying its bad because the characters are two dimensional and boring, the jokes are crass, the CGI is obvious, the writing is poor, the story is erratic and far too convenient, and it sets an inferior example of how little filmmakers actually have to try to make lots of money from people uninterested in being challenged in any way.
it's clear you are completely BIASED blood. your opinion is tainted. I've heard enough. wether you actually saw the film or not doesn't even matter anymore I grow bored of your ramblings. write an essay or something.
you know what, scratch that, I challenge you to make a video response detailing your hatred toward Transformers Revenge of the Fallen .Go for it! who knows you might find a new passion
I'm not saying you didn't enjoy the film or didn't have a right to, but you're making a lot of allowances for an incredibly shallow and popular film. I was hoping you'd try to investigate how this movie could be improved, rather then making excuses.
sounds like joe pesci

no the racism was that one of these robot was foiced by the guy that voiced spongebob so its baskicly a white person going "hey nigger was up" and so forth witch is racist so yh there were racist now i dont think that michle bay i racist i just think skid and muflap were poor cherecter coises
maximiliaan1995 2 years ago
so you're telling me the only people who ever talk "gangster" and "hip hop" are black people? and I am positive the N-word was never even close to being used. poor character choices you bet, racist? I don't think so.
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
thats what i keep telling ppl but no one even listens, fury ur the first person that understands now bout the characters. just cause they talk like that ppl start to point and say its based off a black person. and QFT the n-word was NEVER used
xombl3 2 years ago
no im not saing that only black people talk hip hop or gangster im just saing when a white person starts saing " you need to stop akting like a pussy you honky man" that was a line in the film and he does this in a african american acsent and toatally steriotipe a race you cant help but find it abit afending
ps. im a fan your your reviews and rants and i also like Rantee the Ranter this is not me trying to pick a fight i just thought that the charecters were abit affending
maximiliaan1995 2 years ago
That's what the rants are for, to spark discussions. the only time i'm offended is when someone 1 stars my vid just because they don't like what's being said.
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
"That's because you a pussy." That was the line.
Tanthalasa1 2 years ago
Although I agree with everything in this rant there is one awfull flaw. That voice! Why can't we have the same point done by fury's original voice? Do you think mr. Blacks review would have become popular if his voice sucked? Stop this madness please.
Bertelhauch 2 years ago
Rantee is offended that you're offended by his Voice. Fury has his own rants and reviews.
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
Rantee, I 100% agree with you about that, and to clear something up, It was Cybertorion they couldn't read, never said anything about English or any other Earth Language.
MercenaryX21 2 years ago
Usually I think your right but I dont really agree with you here. While racism is too strong a word and is thrown around far too much nowadays, it is clear that Skid and Mudflap reflect the surface stereotypes of the black community. While they do get their personalities from popculture, I doubt Michael Bay had the insight to expose how racially damaging popular hip-hop culture is through these two robots He obviously chose to have them talk "street" cause it sounded funny, and thats insensitive

Good stuff.

Transformers doesn't need a deep plot. It needs "a" plot. Relentless action and really bad unnecessary humour is not a plot.
micronoid 2 years ago
My point's exactly! To all of you who think Skids and Mudflap are racist, go see South Park's "Chef Goes Nanners" where Chef realizes that thinking things are racist is just another form of racism.

I thought it was more like Johnny Five, from Short Circuit.

My friend totally flipped out on me for that reason man, when i told him we should go see Crank 2 he said that the movie was **** because it had no story, but i still went and saw it because it was still crazy great entertainment.
Fracturemaster 2 years ago
you know, the twins reminded me of that Gremlins movie !
one has gizmo's face and the other has a gremlins face (I think so).
so when i saw their face for the first ime in the movie i thought "hey cool, mogwais gone mad ".
after that first impression I really didn't see any reason to think they were a racist stereotyp, the language was part of the character
redstonee 2 years ago
haha, i sort of saw that more with the tiny blue robot.
wertyui422 2 years ago
I agree 100%, I thought the characters were funny.
JohnnyH1982 2 years ago
great video man, i agree with you, i got friends that are black, white, asian ect. What i found funny about this is that the only people that i know that found those robots offensive were white. Seems some people are just trying to find stuff they can call racist

'It doesn't need a deep plot!'

FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
i kinda agree with you but i have to say that crank 1 has some really deep moments...
for example the old man sleeping in the hospital, chev seeing that little boy in the car or the dialogue in the elevator.
arrghh i'm beeing a nerd again!!!

Fury if the first person, sending that message to H-Wood. hes not giving excuses for this movie, the point is, you cant try any harder, there's not much to build from this particular franchise
Chulachulafaraway 2 years ago
Go back and read what you wrote...'You can't try any harder'
That's called making excuses! You CAN build on this franchise, because they did so in the original cartoon. They could add character and more interactions. They could try to make the jokes funny. They could add back-story that made sense and try to to include an honest moral investigation.
Hey, they did it for a ninja rich guy in a bat costume, even when people said THAT couldn't try harder...
bloodrunsclear 2 years ago
excuse me but this is a movie franchise, its way different then the cartoon crap that they force feed kids these days, and they weren't any better back in the 90s either as i remember. and did you even watch the movie? this movie was way better then the mess they made the first time around, they focused on a big back story from the beginning middle and end, who cares about the jokes! interaction and character could have been fixed if they dropped the twines, movie was great, go watch it again
Chulachulafaraway 2 years ago
The original movie was CGI crack with lousy jokes, a nonsensical story, annoying characters, with only an epic soundtrack to tie it together. The problem I have with the sequel is that, as bad as the first movie was, at least we could pretend it was trying since it was the first film. The second was lazy, more expensive, melodramatic, over long, and inexcusable. There's no backstory without the cartoon or toys at all. Its not improved from the cartoon, its dumbed down, louder, and more colorful.
bloodrunsclear 2 years ago
do your self a favor and put down the thesaurus, realize that what you want from this movie franchise your not going to get because its not possible with out making it a huge series, and i don't want to see transformers 5 and 6 role around because you might as well make a cartoon, which they did, and it sucked, all of them! there has to be a separation and yes this movie couldn't be possible with out the cartoon but from all the bad episodes, they took the best and made a really good film.
Chulachulafaraway 2 years ago
A person cannot in all honesty say the original cartoon sucked without applying the same standards to the recent films, which are every bit as cheesy, badly written, poorly acted, and nonsensical. Keep a consistent set of standards please.
I'm not saying you can't enjoy the movies, but you cannot call them good films because they are not, by any standard except as mindless entertainment. They are no better or worse then Commando, except they have a bigger effects budget to mask the plotholes.
bloodrunsclear 2 years ago
Bloodrunsclear- DID you SEE Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen..honestly now.
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
my sets of standards are fine, comparing the movie to the cartoons which are two totally different things is what makes no sense, your saying that because the cartoon sucks the movie has to? the movie was well made and it was good, you hatting on it doesn't make it a bad film
Chulachulafaraway 2 years ago
So...the cartoon sucks for reasons that cannot be compared to the film versions at all?
I'm not trying to suggest that the film is bad only because I say it is. I'm saying its bad because the characters are two dimensional and boring, the jokes are crass, the CGI is obvious, the writing is poor, the story is erratic and far too convenient, and it sets an inferior example of how little filmmakers actually have to try to make lots of money from people uninterested in being challenged in any way.
bloodrunsclear 2 years ago
it's clear you are completely BIASED blood. your opinion is tainted. I've heard enough. wether you actually saw the film or not doesn't even matter anymore I grow bored of your ramblings. write an essay or something.
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
you know what, scratch that, I challenge you to make a video response detailing your hatred toward Transformers Revenge of the Fallen .Go for it! who knows you might find a new passion
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
Biased...meaning I have an opinion, or that I won't accept all opinions have equal value?
It seems to me a critic should be...critical periodically.
bloodrunsclear 2 years ago
didn't I just tell you I am not a film critic? for someone who claims to have such an educated view on things you sure can't focus.
Biased meaning you have an ignorant view toward things and you're views are slanted. You come off preachy, dogmatic and pretty annoying.
and I'm even going to add Pretentious, meaning you view many things beneath you.
hey...I just got Critical on you! I guess I AM a critic!
FuryoftheFilmFan 2 years ago
I'm a little disappointed.
I'm not saying you didn't enjoy the film or didn't have a right to, but you're making a lot of allowances for an incredibly shallow and popular film. I was hoping you'd try to investigate how this movie could be improved, rather then making excuses.
