  • Archives Of Pain one of the best solo's :P and what about the "Donkeys" Solo? :O thats amazing!!!!

  • Best description ever :D

  • du très grand James Dean Bradfield

  • You wrote at the end "Don't forget, Stay Beautiful" but that's one solo you did forget! Also, where is Loves Sweet Exile, Motorcycle Emptiness, La Tristesse, Drug Drug Druggy, Sleepflower, The Everlasting, Die in the Summertime, Autumn Song, loads of other stuff of Send away the Tigers :(

  • No Surface All Feeling isn't a solo. It's just a guitar part.

  • @KosmicFlux yeahhh the solo's at the end O.o thats just the intro riff

  • what about Loves Sweet Exile? thats a beast!

im just thinking at 2:23, bradders dont chop off your amazing guitar playing fingers!!

  • go ol' ye faithful bradders!

  • did i miss my little empire? that whole song is a massive solo. LINK IT ALL!

  • I think Elvis Impersonator deserves a mention :-)

  • I think Elvis Impersonator deserves a mention :-)

  • What about 'Us Against You'? It is a cracker.

  • Favorited. BRILLIANT showcase

  • Faster is the best solo ever! mindblowingly good!

  • I think so....

  • Good video.

All i will say is ARCHIVES OF PAIN!!

  • Autumn song...Perhaps his best solo EVER!

  • comfort comes has a good solo.

  • A suggestion for your next video, a 1m11s solo from Us Against You.

You also get Sean going mental on his drum set thrown in as well!!!

  • must agree with you 100% one of the best guitarist ever

  • Very talented man. Great singer and also a great guitarist.. the manics june 4th the olympia Dublin cant fn wait. onion rings. ha ha ha just wanted to hear the auido preview say dat.

  • My 3 solos of his are drug drug druggy, roses in the hospital and donkeys

  • No Motorcycle Emptiness?! I know how to play it and it's very hard - he nails it every time!

  • Haha, I thought that the first one was a demo version of PCP....

Great video, thank you so much, specially for including the one in Archives of Pain.

It's really an insane solo. He's a great guitarrist, and I like the fact that he joins virtuosism with feeling.

PS: Maybe the solo in The Everlasting, I know it's long and relatively slow, but it gives me the goosebumps when I'm listen to it, or the one in La Tristessa Durera :)

  • James is my favourite guitarist by a long way, i love the way he managed to put solos to some of the songs in the holy bible, the lyrics are so blunt, horrific and graphic and yet he manages to play some really good rock solos over the top in a kind of stripped back acerbic way. Awesome guitarist, he has such a distinctive sound too.

  • not forgetting introvenus agnostic as well

  • Was listeneing to SYMM today and id forgotten what a beast of a solo that has toward the end!

  • James is my favourite guitarist. When he talks about sitting in his room as a teenager learning Guns N Roses songs, I sat in my room as a teenager learning Manics songs.

  • The greatest Guitarist of the 90s, yet hugely overrated and overshadowed by the likes of Tom Morello and Johnny Greenwood. Not discrediting them as they are good, they just pale in comparison to our Bradders. =P

  • I know what you mean.. and i totally agree!

james is the greatest Guitarist its unfortunate that nobody has heard of him..

Hes always number one in my book (L) x.

  • Totally Agree mate! JDB Is SOOOOOOOO under-rated!

  • I love the Manics and James is one of the best guitarists ever, but the solo in PCP is almost identical to the one in Motown Junk! Just listen and see

  • I've never really noticed that before luv but i guess your right! :D

    x x

  • ""black dog on my shoulder",it is at the end of the song and it is not that loud, but it is one of the best.simple and great"

  • Black dog on My Shoulder, Condemned to rock and roll, Gold against the soul, Natwest-Barcklays-Midlands-Lloyds, Born to End, So Dead, Another Invented Disease.

  • defo, wheres motorcycle emptiness???

  • How can this be his best solos without Motorcycle Emptiness? It's the stuff of legend. That's a glaring omission, matey.

  • no way lol... I've just interrupted my sunday dinner to go and check it out again, 5 times in fact i replayed that part over and mouthed manic street preachers as he sang..it don't fit and its clear to me he says 'my electric guitars'...a funny way of sayin he murders em in solos i guess!!

  • thats actually just wrong, because james himself said in an interview its manic street preachers, and if you listen to it properly it does say that. theres no way in hell it says electric guitars LOL!

  • you did forget "Stay Beautiful"

  • great vid..impossible to include every solo he's done else it'll last 2hrs...hmm thinkin about it..why not?! Lol...archives is the best solo..just the expression and feel you get from it heightens the songs mood even more...incidentally i've never heard anyone mention it..but why does James say 'electric guitar' at the end of the second sweep of names before the solo starts??

  • he doesnt. listen carefully and he says 'manic street preachers'. ah, he's a character...

  • James is one the greatest guitarist ever but way too underestimated!

  • great selection! la tristessa durera and further away are missing though.

  • another invented disease is a great one too !!!

  • I can't believe you didn't include la tristessa durera

  • oh yes I agree

One of the best Solos (I think)

  • Some good choices, but I think you've gone for the more well known ones- I persoanlly think some of his best work is in the earlier B sides e.g. Us Against You, Are Mothers Saints, Patrick Bateman, Love Tourn Us Under. Love's Sweet Exile is also tough!

  • yes, but i DONT have many b sides, y don't you make a vid of his greatest guitar solos if your not happy with this, and i do have some b sides if you've cared to notice..

  • always thought pcp solo sounded alot like motown junk solo

  • Love this vid!! JDB is my idol!! And nice one for including Locust Valley!

  • ha! thanks :D oh.. james is my idol too! i lloovvee him soo much! oh and thanks! i love locust valley its great :D

  • You're welcome!! Please get some more manics stuff up, as they're the best band ever, and JDB is the greatest guitarist ever!!!! :):):)

  • i shall be doing that very soon! :D its fun making videos! :D

  • what album/single.ep is Locust Valley on?

  • locust valley is great isnt it?? locust valley is the b-side to found that soul! it rocks :D

  • Aww right thanks...yeah it is a great song

  • I love how you left Archives of Pain til last. Definetly the best piece of Guitar work he's ever done.

    But...where is Stay Beautiful?

  • oh yes! because archives is so great and.. best (and longest) till last :D it gives me so much insperation on stuff in general!

stay beautiful is great! and a good solo! damn me for missing like.. um 10 (or more) great solos out! o.0 lol

  • YEEEEEEAH BOYYYYYYY

  • 04:00 poor james looks knackered lol! =] x

  • aww! but i love that pic soo much!.. hes reaching for orange juice!.. soo adorable! :D

  • ahahaha! Ace.

There are those few notes in Rendition, for about 4 seconds, right before the final chorus, which make me want to burst :)

That picture during the Roses in the Hospital bit actually is the most adorable thing I've seen in ages :)

I think it was at the NME Big Gig where the performance of You Love Us blew every previous performance of it out of the water. Even better than the recording. Motorcycle Emptiness too.

And Archives Of Pain? Leaves me shredded every time :)

  • rendition is great! and i have soo many cutie pics of james ^^ you know i love the roses pic too much!

yes! you love us was great at the big gig! tom and james were soo cute together!

james is a genious! like no other.. he has soo much tallent!

  • defo, he looks all cuddily =]

    xx

  • oh, so cuddly james! we love him :D i especially love his smile!

  • just remembering that i dont want every manics song on this, 'black dog on my shoulder' isnt one of his greatest.. not very technical.. is it?, 'drug drug druggy' solo is good and also isnt one of his best.. but i love 'archives of pain' because its special.. and more underrated! DAMN People who want shit ..like billie joe... o.0

  • well being a mussision, usually we dont like critics!, i love black dog, but yes, i've put the ones i think are best to my aspect! and thats that! and i've never listend to jimi hendrix! and before you go off your onion at that like 'OMG OMG' im 15, no excuse? well fuck ya! lets try and stop the annoying eachother! its just a song! and sorry i missed that one out..

  • Nice vid, although I personally prefer their newer stuff, for example Australia and A Song For Departure have got some good guitar playin' on then =)

  • yes! i guess some old stuff is good too! like no surface all feeling, imperial bodybags, locust valley montana/autumn (b sides) i cannot wait for their new album! apparently its ment to be 'the holy bible part 2!' ^^

  • The "Archives of Pain"-solo is in the top ten of all time. Only to be compared with "Comfortably Numb" (Pink Floyd), "Stairway to Heaven" (Led Zeppelin) and co.

  • great video, but where's Donkeys?! Best James solo by a mile.

  • just reminds you what a god he is and a brillaint talant

  • This is awesome. James = My guitar hero + pure brillience

  • Thanks so much for the video! he's the best :)

  • and the rest of Body bags, the last 7 seconds, the most difficult e notes played by james...

  • James Dean Bradfield is a FUCKING GUITAR GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thought arhcives of pain would be last. Wheres motorcycles emptiness though. He is awesome.

  • James Dean Bradfield is a legend!

  • nice upload

  • thanks! i made it because sombody made one of billie joe, and i think that James is better! o.0
