You wrote at the end "Don't forget, Stay Beautiful" but that's one solo you did forget! Also, where is Loves Sweet Exile, Motorcycle Emptiness, La Tristesse, Drug Drug Druggy, Sleepflower, The Everlasting, Die in the Summertime, Autumn Song, loads of other stuff of Send away the Tigers :(
Very talented man. Great singer and also a great guitarist.. the manics june 4th the olympia Dublin cant fn wait. onion rings. ha ha ha just wanted to hear the auido preview say dat.
Haha, I thought that the first one was a demo version of PCP....
Great video, thank you so much, specially for including the one in Archives of Pain.
It's really an insane solo. He's a great guitarrist, and I like the fact that he joins virtuosism with feeling.
PS: Maybe the solo in The Everlasting, I know it's long and relatively slow, but it gives me the goosebumps when I'm listen to it, or the one in La Tristessa Durera :)
James is my favourite guitarist by a long way, i love the way he managed to put solos to some of the songs in the holy bible, the lyrics are so blunt, horrific and graphic and yet he manages to play some really good rock solos over the top in a kind of stripped back acerbic way. Awesome guitarist, he has such a distinctive sound too.
James is my favourite guitarist. When he talks about sitting in his room as a teenager learning Guns N Roses songs, I sat in my room as a teenager learning Manics songs.
The greatest Guitarist of the 90s, yet hugely overrated and overshadowed by the likes of Tom Morello and Johnny Greenwood. Not discrediting them as they are good, they just pale in comparison to our Bradders. =P
I love the Manics and James is one of the best guitarists ever, but the solo in PCP is almost identical to the one in Motown Junk! Just listen and see
Black dog on My Shoulder, Condemned to rock and roll, Gold against the soul, Natwest-Barcklays-Midlands-Lloyds, Born to End, So Dead, Another Invented Disease.
no way lol... I've just interrupted my sunday dinner to go and check it out again, 5 times in fact i replayed that part over and mouthed manic street preachers as he sang..it don't fit and its clear to me he says 'my electric guitars'...a funny way of sayin he murders em in solos i guess!!
thats actually just wrong, because james himself said in an interview its manic street preachers, and if you listen to it properly it does say that. theres no way in hell it says electric guitars LOL!
no way lol... I've just interrupted my sunday dinner to go and check it out again, 5 times in fact i replayed that part over and mouthed manic street preachers as he sang..it don't fit and its clear to me he says 'my electric guitars'...a funny way of sayin he murders em in solos i guess!!
great vid..impossible to include every solo he's done else it'll last 2hrs...hmm thinkin about it..why not?! Lol...archives is the best solo..just the expression and feel you get from it heightens the songs mood even more...incidentally i've never heard anyone mention it..but why does James say 'electric guitar' at the end of the second sweep of names before the solo starts??
Some good choices, but I think you've gone for the more well known ones- I persoanlly think some of his best work is in the earlier B sides e.g. Us Against You, Are Mothers Saints, Patrick Bateman, Love Tourn Us Under. Love's Sweet Exile is also tough!
yes, but i DONT have many b sides, y don't you make a vid of his greatest guitar solos if your not happy with this, and i do have some b sides if you've cared to notice..
There are those few notes in Rendition, for about 4 seconds, right before the final chorus, which make me want to burst :)
That picture during the Roses in the Hospital bit actually is the most adorable thing I've seen in ages :)
I think it was at the NME Big Gig where the performance of You Love Us blew every previous performance of it out of the water. Even better than the recording. Motorcycle Emptiness too.
And Archives Of Pain? Leaves me shredded every time :)
just remembering that i dont want every manics song on this, 'black dog on my shoulder' isnt one of his greatest.. not very technical.. is it?, 'drug drug druggy' solo is good and also isnt one of his best.. but i love 'archives of pain' because its special.. and more underrated! DAMN People who want shit ..like billie joe... o.0
well being a mussision, usually we dont like critics!, i love black dog, but yes, i've put the ones i think are best to my aspect! and thats that! and i've never listend to jimi hendrix! and before you go off your onion at that like 'OMG OMG' im 15, no excuse? well fuck ya! lets try and stop the annoying eachother! its just a song! and sorry i missed that one out..
yes! i guess some old stuff is good too! like no surface all feeling, imperial bodybags, locust valley montana/autumn (b sides) i cannot wait for their new album! apparently its ment to be 'the holy bible part 2!' ^^
The "Archives of Pain"-solo is in the top ten of all time. Only to be compared with "Comfortably Numb" (Pink Floyd), "Stairway to Heaven" (Led Zeppelin) and co.
Archives Of Pain one of the best solo's :P and what about the "Donkeys" Solo? :O thats amazing!!!!
