This is a form of duality because we accept 2 laws, But Allah's law being the ultimate court and overriding all other laws. This is far from being a form of worship of man or setting up partners with Allah.

@Salrother1 - you need to scratch the surface of what she is saying. Yes there is only 1 God, but there are also man made laws that we abide by. For example the law says in the UK to drive on the left not on the right, to stop when u see a red light. These r not laws from Allah (swt) these r man made, but we abide by them for our own safety. The point is Allah has allowed us to set up our own laws in order for us to be just to each other, he will ultimately decide if we have treated each other

@kmah1974 We were created to worship Allah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa), as mentioned in the Qur'aan and the sin of associating partners is the only sin that will not be forgiven.
We worship Allah (subhaanah) and this encompasses justice, but the bigger picture is worshipping Allah (subhaanah) - because if you associate partners, you will not be forgiven
As for man-made laws, even if we abide by them they are still haraam. Living in the west we live by the laws of the land, but islamically- haraam

@salrathor1 - I agree that we are created to worship Allah (SWT). So what is worship - Prayer? Wrong. Worship encompasses fulfilling all of Allah's commands not just prayer. Allah does not say only pray. He commands us to fast, establish justice, pay charity to be patient, just and kind to our mother, father, brothers, sisters, neighbors, friends. He tells us so much more than just pray.

Is disobeying a man made law and risking your life and others life by driving on the right instead of the left (UK Law) haraam or plain stupid? When did Allah say we have to drive on the right? This is a form of duality because we accept 2 laws, But Allah's law being the ultimate court and overriding all other laws. ....Its Allah alone that we r worshiping and subsequently changing the laws of the land to be coherent with his. Be clear in your mind what constitutes worship, man's law and Allah's divine law.
I'm not an authority on Islam, or a scholar, just someone who engages their mind when reading the Quraan rather than just reading it. Allah knows best.

@kmah1974 We abide by the laws of this land, however the ruling is that there is 'no obedience to the creation over the creator'. Therefore the laws are minor issues as they do not contradict the shariah in the first place.
Allah (subhaanah) has given mankind free-will, but he has NOT given us the right to set up our own laws in contradiction to His legislated laws.

Shirk is the only sin which Allah (subhaanah) won't forgive, so kind of, yes.
Allah (subhaanah) may forgive the Muslim who drinks alcohol, gambles, smokes, fornicates - but shirk is out of the question.
So basically, if you worship two Gods, you will not be forgiven.
And this isn't what I say, this is what Allah (subhaanah) says in the Qur'aan.
