  • why would u remove a technical gear ? u shouldnt have 2 do this at all

  • @aboode60 Something goes wrong with your 1st stages?

I'd ditch gear and go straight for the valves.

  • @Sargethepyromaniac shouldnt u use the 2nd reg and turn the dive ?

  • @aboode60 Not if something goes real bad, the skills use has a very niche hole but in the situation that it would be useful in, you'd be glad to have it under your belt.

  • good point JLLK009, there are better dive stories and videos on the net. try the myscubastory site. type "dive stories" into google and its like the 12th result, on the 1st or 2nd page of google... youll find other good dive story pages but i think the myscubastory site is better as its dedicated to dive stories, accidents, sharks and videos - good luck

  • This guy got very good bouyancy skill

  • Ok. Its great Stuff for some Warmwater-Diver in Egypt like "Fritz and Helga".

But will he do this also in coldwater with Drysiut, 200 or 400gr Underwear, thick Drygloves with big Rings (i hate these rings) and connected Drysuit-Inflator?

U know what a mean? Sorry if you're pissed at me. That`s not my reason.

But....that`s really Puppystuff and brings nothing. You can also do that only with a trunk easily.

Every normal teached diver can do that with a 2mm wetsuit or with trunks.

    Greetz

  • for most of the year temperature at sea is about 8 degres C so i can't really imagine to dive for 50 minutes in wet suit.

  • i know he's probably still in training but i like you techies buoyancy skills!

  • And for the record. Yeah, I don't have a big problem doing gear removal, replacement in cold water. But I only teach it for wetsuit divers for "practical reasons". Leaving the longhose down stops beginners/intermediates from entangling it (which 90% does otherwise) and any decent reg will have no problem with a few grains of easily removable sand or some clay. Which I teach about how to handle IF in some case it would cause some trouble, all part of the package ;).

  • Relax people. Its playtime on a basic skill for warm water diving. No one's ever said anything about its application on where you dive. Use your brains please.

And before you open up with thoughtless comments. Check out what kind of dives Cedric Verdier (the diver in the video) has been doing and how accomplished an instructor (trainer) he is regardless of all the positive/negative bs surrounding, just google him a bit (200m+ dives). Then come back when you do better...

  • And?

It`s Puppystuff in shallow and warm Water with 2mm Wetgear. There is nothing heroic in.

Do that with a Drysuit, 200g Underwear in our Barentsea in 60m Deep and look what happen.

    Greetz

  • I don't know what is up with all these self-important comments on this. So what if it is puppystuff in warm water? That is just nice and dandy. Whoever said to do this in cold water, or that it is applicable.

FYI I do far deeper dives (sub 100m) than that in 2-4 degree water where 200g doesn't even cut in in the summertime on shallow dives here in the baltic or nordic sea (or any local cave or mine). You dive and use skills as applicable to environment. So what is your point supposed to mean?

  • I.e. yes I agree, nothing heroic about it. And neither would it be in the conditions you describe.

  • Ya, doin it with a drysuit sucks.

  • Seems like a lot of work to check the regs, go sidemount then you just look down to see your regs.

  • take a dry suit en try again, it is easy like this, but nice video

  • well done man. when i was taking my open water course a couple of weeks aggo (and passed) we had to do that but just with ordianry equipment. i bet doing it with tech divin equimpent is harder coz you got like twice as much of everything coz of the 2 tanks. lol. XD

  • get a drysuit man xD

  • how deep is he?

  • Der solls mal mit 2mal 7mm Anzug probieren dann schauts glei nimma so gut aus

  • Well done...good buoyancy. It takes a lot of courage to post skills on Youtube...everyone is a critic. I personally would not let the reg fall into the dirt, but your mileage may vary....(and yes I have done and teach this skill clipped.)

    Cheers!

  • Good trim my a** He even touched the bottom.

I have done this skill in my dry suit with no probs what so ever. Dont even se the reason of not doing this skill while breathing with the longhose???? Do it in a drui suit like i did and then we can talk. Leaving the reg in the sand like that, com on!!!

  • I bet he will pay the price someday for leaving regs in sand. Diving in Scotland is a f***ing challenge drysuit pour visibility etc.

  • haha...that;s the first thing I thought of...oooo...put your reg. in the sand is just what those service depts. of dive shop love.

  • @TheEquinox76 is a drysuit the only option in Scotland?

  • Great video...thanks.. I tend to think it will be a hard thing to do with a trilam drysuit, especially with thermo undies, but man you did a great job with the video, keep them comming.

  • Btw, the diver in the video is not me, its Instructor Trainer Cedric Verdier. I hold the camera...

  • And for whoever says that clipping it off to the right D-ring is "correct". That is DIR, but DIR does not remove-replace gear at all (and yes, there's plenty of applications for that, primarily for solo divers, stuck valves, misc faults, entaglement, watermanship exercise etc)

All of you should try these things in the water thoroughly before making comments.

  • OR, you could avoid solo diving, reach the valves while wearing the kit, and gain assistance from your team with entanglement. Perhaps the best answer is the last, comfort and watermanship practice and just plain old "goofing around".

  • Hehehe, yes of course... diving is supposed to be fun too :)

  • Have you actually tried leaving the longhose clipped yourselves? I really don't think so.

Most divers entangle themselves and/or get the longhose stuck beneath harness etc at an unacceptably high rate. The idea is to leave the longhose secondary extended for minimalized entanglement. There is little or no risk leaving it hanging or on sand. Any particles in the reg are easily rinsed. Compared to the trouble and time it takes sorting out an entagled longhose, it is worth the tradeoff.

  • Yeah good trim, but I have to agree with 'pbmonster3000', clipping off the long hose to the right D-ring instead of throwing the reg in the sand.

  • why do you need to replace your 'gear'???? That's very backwards.

  • you got good trim... i'll give you that.

but.... you take your primary, and throw it into the sand/dirt...??? why would you do that instead of the correct thing... clip it off to a D-ring?? and also, pulling your rig back on by the inflator? WOW.

  • Nice video.

In drysuit, you would problably want to get the set over your head instead. The arms are a bit difficult to get out of the webbing otherwise.

  • do not really know the point of that...nice trim though!

  • If you need to squeeze through a tight spot maybe?

  • Any change of you posting this w/ a drysuit and steel doubles? I can do it all day long wet w/ singles and wet w/ doubles, but the procedure for doffing full 130's with a drysuit and thick undergarments escapes me. Great vids btw.

  • Holy crap, I need to learn to hover like that too. It looks fantastic :D I bet I'd stir up the mud like a small tank :D

  • Most agencies/instructors don't teach this skill with twinsets (and it can be more difficult in drysuits). The longhose is left hanging as it avoids entanglement in it as the unit is put back on. We've found this to be the best and safest way, even in silty environments. Before 2004 we taught with lh intact, but too many problems with hose entanglement. Cheers!

  • I'm still new to the whole technical diving thing, i just started training about 2 weeks ago, but why do you leave the long hose hanging? shouldn't you clip it off to your BC, or is there a specific reason you leave it off?
