  • Does anyone know if a 'Western Digital Scorpio 160GB WD1600BEVE 5400rpm 8MB Buffer 2.5" IDE / PATA Notebook Hard Drive' works with an inspiron 6000? I'm not too savvy with this type of thing and i wanted to ask before I bought it online. I'm replacing the Hitachi 60 GB drive that the laptop came with 5+ years ago. Help me out if you can please and thank you

  • @EmbraceTheRobot it should.

  • Thanks for this - you managed to show me where I went wrong!

  • @darynbuckley no problem :)

  • Cheers!

  • thanks for having this video on how to change the hard drive on the inspiron 6000. I was having a hard time and then realize i needed to remove the connector to install new hard drive. now I am up and running on this laptop.

  • Thanks a lot! I was able to change my hard disk without any issue.. I really appreciate your hard work by uploading this video..

  • OK im looking for a new hard disk ! Where did u get yours from??? What type of Hard disk is it? I meant something like

Dell - 160 GB SATA 5400RPM Hard Drive. Did i guess correct the type?

please reply a.s.a.p. Love this video! Helps me a lot!!

  • @tripleh847 which model dell do you have?

  • @videos4daworld same as yours inspiron 6000. what is the model of your new hard disk???

  • @tripleh847 it is ide not sata. So like you could Get Dell- 160GB IDE 5400RPM

  • @videos4daworld is it still any stock available ? By the way can you order from dell online?

  • @tripleh847 i am unsure, i got it from a local computer store

  • @trytlc I also put a shortcut link in the video description, just click show more above

  • @trytlc screw driver might be why it didn't read xp, but as long as it is reinstalling fine, then you should have no problems down the road. you will need drivers as xp doesn't recognize them instantly, so go to google and search dell inspiron 6000 drivers and once on dell site click change product and select service tag. there should be a service tag underneath the laptop that you can enter in. this gives you the exact drivers for that particular laptop, not all of the inspiron 6000 drivers.

  • @trytlc is windows installed on the harddrive?

  • My Inspiron 1501 has a SATA drive.

Did you actually use a different drive?

  • @Dell0304 this is an older laptop than the 1501, so it will have ide, not sata. different toshiba hdd off screen. was going to edit, but takes too long to rerender the file for a 2 second cut.

  • @videos4daworld I know that.

    OK.

I dont edit my vids because WMM sucks.

  • @Dell0304 i usually use a program called cyberlink powerdiector. i used it for that 7 year old buys plane where i was talking to myself scene. powerful software, not free though. latest one is 9, but i use 8 as i am more familiar with it
