I seem to remember having an album in the early 60's in which she sang "Spring is Here." Is my recollection correct. I'd love so much to hear it again!
wally1435 thank you for bringing this music and with it my teenage crush memories of joanie sommers, back to me. the instant i heard her first note, i was transported in time and space to a wonderful place. she's beautiful, her voice is magic.
Joanie is and was one of the all-time greats. I'd love to hear her version of "You'd Better Love Me" from this "Come Alive!" LP! Did Columbia ever put it out on cd? Thanks for posting!
I had never heard of her until tonight. I'm floored at how talented she was and I can't believe she didn't go on to do more. Thanks for posting these.
How many LPs from 1965 hold up like this? Very few. The arrangements were beautiful, the songs are timeless, and Joanie brings her special something to them all. To paraphrase from her famous commercials, "Smile, you're in the JOANIE generation!"
Music is infinite - no shortage of artists - lovers of artists - colletors of artists' works in any genre - no matter how small, or large, the audience. Just as this LP has "held up" - so have thousands of others.
thank you much for posting this - i had the album years ago and cannot find it. please post all of these wonderful songs, especially girl talk, youd better love me, sunday in ny, im all smiles, it had to be you...all wonderful and she has such a great interpretation and sound. thanks again!
You're welcome; thanks for posting. I may upload a few more tracks, but I generally limit myself to 3 tracks per LP, as I have many album tracks I plan to upload. I do uploads primarily to help draw attention the diversity of a singer, and primarily for those who might never have heard much by them.
Joanie was great - similar to Eydie Gorme (but not as great as Eydie).

@sammipink1 You are welcome....I never really followed her career that closely, so I really don't know what she's up to these days.

Isn't it amazing to think that the genre of pop music once included beautiful, subtle, intelligent, and sophisticated music such as this?
