I remember the first time I heard this...the DJ said a new recording from Eddie Cochran had been found and remixed. I thought they were going to play it but instead he played this song. My first reaction was "wow, they did re mix this song great!". The DJ was just talking about the recording from Cochran; he had no intention of playing it.

I find it amazing that last solo, It is amazing how the right notes in the right place can tell a story. Even as Mark was playing that Last solo you could just feel the RAW emotion that he was feeling. Something so simple and clean will always sound better than something fast and meaningless.

Great to see this again, I had this on VHS recorded off channel 4. I remember buying a lifetime Scotch tape with my pocket money specially to record this. I rigged up a tape deck to the video so I could have the audio on my walkman at school - Gotta love mono with hiss.

I watched this so many times I started to wear out the video tape.

It sounds as great as it ever did.

Can't believe that I missed Dire Straits at Wembley in '85. Had tix to see them the night after Live Aid, but was just too knackered to see the gig through.

Still regret it to this day. Absolutely adore this band!

I hate making lists ranking guitar players, its so subjective and, in a way, so childish. But when speaking of Knopfler(Mark), we have to rank him as one of the ten greatest living players. And this video is a prime example why: effortless technique, truly distinguishable tone, and succinct style. Knopfler is one of a kind. He's the real deal. From country fingerpickering to headbanging metal. Any serious player will get some great insight studying this man's playing.

this is excellent! I had this on a videotape all my childhood...and this was the concert that made me want to play guitar - and it still does! But why is it cut in the end?! I have this on DVD now :) so I'll just go put it on my TV ;)

Remember this "The Tube" recording well - Channel 4 broadcast it over Xmas Hols 1987 - recorded it on VHS and must have come close to wearing the tape out over the next few years.
