To all who have troubles with long jump.

Go to game settings. Go to keyboard options. Press DEFAULT all settings. This way we can all save some serious pains from some people who have messed up with their keys.

Then go to game. Press CTRL and after that immediately SPACE. Knock yourselves out and over the ledge, you now have a long jump.

Took me an eternity to learn the superjump (FYI I know it's long-jump, but superjump sounds better). I knew how to do it but I just couldn't reach that first damn rock until I found out that you had to look straight ahead when jumping. Of course, I always looked right at the ground, thinking I just had to use the platform better.

You need a special attachment for it though. You acquire it later on in the game.

the xen was escaping from the combine empire. So they tried escaping to the dimension they were in in this vid. The combine are actually these worm looking people that u can see in hl2. they capture races then biologically change them and add cybernetic thingies to them to do their bidding. so dropships and striders used to be creatures once, but are now like cyborg slaves. humans are the newest addition to the combine.

Vortigaunts are the ones who are enslaved on Xen. They were bad in Half-Life 1 because they were trying to escape Nihilanth. G-Man puts you in a stasis for 20 years than wakes you up and now Humans and Vortigaunts are enslaved so in Half-Life 2 Vortiguants are good but still enslaved.

Life sucks for them no matter what universe...

Synths are biological creatures modified and enslaved by the combine, they probably come from various worlds that the combine have conquered. Stalkers are humans that have been enslaved (further than the soldiers).

it's a long jump. you are able to do it once you obtain the long jump module before you enter xen. You press crouch and jump at the same time.

yeah, I played HL1 in WINE, so Ctrl+Arrow Keys were mapped to switching virtual screens in Compiz. Anyway, Shift is now my standard crouch modifier.

those are another scientist that came through Lamba teleporter to Xen in order to get some pure crystals for experiments. in the past before gordon even arrived. if you remember that you drove one of those crystals into that machine that created portal storms > that crystal was brought by G-Man
