  • Two of the greatest, promo guys of all time..However,I still feel,Super star billy graham, jake the snake, dusty rhodes, and ole anderson, might have been even better on the mic..

  • What makes this even more great is the fact that Piper and Flair were great buddies

  • I'm just curious how much of this interview is pure improv based on the natural mic talent of Flair & Piper, vs. how much did the company want them to stay on a certain script? Guys like them make me wonder if certain wrestlers have more leeway with being able to just wing it/improv as long as they stay in character?

  • @JonMootaw26 Wasn't any scripts. Piper and Flair don't need stinkin' scripts.

  • i remember this live i was 10 back then

  • Best damn interview segment ever. Piper taking his jacket off and wearing the U.S. belt is the cherry on top.

  • two best promo guys in the history of the business IMO. and like others have mentioned, piper was one of the guys that really helped propel hogan. what an excellent heel

  • everyone thinks that hulkamania ushered in the wwe dominance of the wrestling markewt in this country. Hulkamania would havee been nothing without the mad Piper his mad mike skills...Why did you tune in? Did ya tune to hear "take your vitamins, say your prayers, and hang and bang?" or did you tune into see what Piper would do next? I know why I did...

  • that title belt is bad ass

  • I was such a wrestling nut back then that I used to have this segment on AUDIO cassette---lol

  • @cyclops65 WWE could release the best of Roddy Piper Promos on Itunes and make a fortune

  • Ric Flair the Mae West of Wrestling..lol.

  • i remember this interview live.......WOW

  • This had to have been just shortly before Flair beat Dusty for the title.

  • Cocaine and Roddy certainly got along!

  • Honing their craft to near perfection.

  • The early '80s was the best time period for pro wrestling -- hands down!!! Classic clips like this one are the reason why! Great post!!!

  • Wow, that "$400" sport coat sure tore easily!

  • @OaktownABQ Yeah and a 40 cent potato sack wouldn't

  • YOUTUBE IS AWESOME TO SHOW PAST STUFF LIKE THIS

  • I remember watching this on TV and being shocked when Piper took the jacket off to reveal the US belt. And the entire interview got even better from there. Great, great stuff - maybe the best interview exchange ever.

  • This might be one of the best of all time

  • @mosquitopilate Watching it because of the RT from Piper tonight from you about it. I sent the message about trying to pick out the best Piper promo is like trying to pick out the smallest grain of sand in the desert with the naked eye. ^5

  • @mosquitopilate I think that it is :) The laugh from Piper is GOLD!!!

  • when piper says" that's a lie!" classic

  • this is why they are the best, piper is god in this promo

  • You keep your mouth shut!

  • Wow, this is some classic footage. Thanks for posting.

  • whats funny is flair is biggest piper fan here is... hes says none can do it like the nature boy, except roddy... as far as the personality

  • This is when the matches and the interviews were the best.

  • This is a classic promo between two of the greatest wrestling stars of all time. This is how wrestling fueds were built back when wrestling was in it's hey day. Piper was an awesome heel, what away to give up the mid-atlantic tv title, but gift wrap it and give it to flair, classic piper. Hey Vince pay attention you might learn something.

  • This is one of the greatest promos of all time! King Richard, Slim Whitman, of Wrestling, Mae West, Piper giving Flair the Mid-Atlantic TV belt. The brass knuckles, Flair wanting to grind up Piper and spitting him out! Flair ripping his expensive coat, and Piper wanting to rip his. This was awesome!

  • Piper wins this debate !!!!

  • just like frank bonnem was perfect for portland and sollie for florida and georgia bob caudle was perfect for the carolinas. gee whiz. to bad you backed jesse helms there bobby but oh well.

  • @lockenjr So did Flair but forgive him because he doesn't know what he is doing.
