I have not tested mine at full range yet but my buddy has the exact same setup (including the IBCrazy cloverleaf/skew-plannar antennas) and he just achieved 3000+ feet confirmed with an OSD. I would expect much less from the stock antenna setup.
Regarding recording, you CAN record live HD output with the go pro when your live video output is standard definition (which is what my setup is). If you tried to live output HD resolution you would NOT be able to record in full HD.
you well get better range with a 3S on the RX! yes it gets hot, but from what i gather is should not hurt! Inside yes it well get super hot, but outside it shouldn't? \
Are you sure about recoding in full HD while using the live output? I though the quality of the recording was dropped down to standard resolution when using the live output. or is the Hero 2 different?
on the video you tell us that the cable for ready made rc the brown wire is ground the orange is video so my question is which one is left and right audio?
when you use your go pro as the live feed camera and hook up the setup that you are describing in the video,,, do you get sound in the video that you record with the go pro while you are using it as a camera since the only two wires that you soldered were just ground and video and no audio wires??
The go pro hero 2 is about $275, FPV setup from Hobby King was $60, Ready made RC go pro cable about $15. Total cost for the setup is around $350 if you don't count the fact you no longer have a water proof go pro case and probably need to buy a new one. The range isn't great. I was only able to get about 150 to 200 yards out of it. Might be ok for short range Heli flying.
Video clarity is good for the price, no complaints there.
2 questions, how much does it coast fro that full set up you have there? and How is the range on the picture quality? I have just began to look into these systems for a remote Helicopter and a remote short course truck trying to find out which is best for range and price thanks,
