why do most peeople reccomeend " reinstall windows" when thay fail to remove spyware/trojans ..etc. in 90% of cases you DON'T have to at all, and most ppl dont have a Windows CD to do so. or have never done a backup of anything on thaire system. And a common missconception of spyware or Rouge-ware that is steals data in some way, when infact it dont, all it does is want you to bye thair fake software shit.

yes! you want to go to a friend's computer, and make record a virus scanner that scans your computer on start up before the windows loads on to a cd-rom. you can also look for a virus scanner launchable from DOS and then load your operating system in DOS. Good luck.

Don't click a spy warning popup. It is really the installer program for a virus.

Use Taskmanager to stop it.

Then find the program and delete it. It is usually in Documents and Settings...User

While rebooting keep hitting Ctrl +Alt +Delete to get the Taskmanager to boot BEFORE the virus does.

I recently got this virus and it was a right little shit. I found that downloading spyware doctor got rid of it. but a friend told me that if you go into task manager, and open prossesses and find the file, sysguard.exe and stop that, and also check for antivirussystemspro.exe and uninstal.exe stop those also and it should help also. Hope this helps somepeople

Everyone just run in safe mode and then when prompted to run the restore wizard just restore it to an earlier time then run avg free. Restoring the computer worked for me seeing as how the program is in the registry. hope this helps some people.

Try it again. That's what I did. I restarted in Safe Mode and went to system restore. Restored it to an earlier time. then downloaded malwarebytes(free) and scanned to make sure everything was clean. Try this and see what happens ;-)

you don't need a new computer. just reinstall the windows operating system. you probably weren't doing the right kind of recovery or not the right kind of discs. bring your computer to a store and have the format the hard drive for you, or just re-format the hard youself and then either try recovery discs or buy a new operating system disc.

hi, great vid. to avoid having to rename the installer and the application, you can open the DOS prompt (start -> run then type "cmd" and hit enter) and use taskkill to kill the sysguard.exe process like this:

taskkill /f /im sysguard.exe

sysguard.exe is the antivirus pro process; once you've killed that you can run the spyware removal tools without having to change the names of the installers or set them to run in "windows 95 mode" or whatever

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle - this actually worked! In safe-mode > Renamed the downloaded file to randomness > it hangs at "finishing install" because it's trying to run "mbam.exe" killed "mbam.exe" and the randomname.exe. I personally just renamed "C:\progam files\malwarebyes......\mbam.e­xe to random numbers (no Win95 compatibility stuff) and off it went. THANKS!!!!
