  • Colin, is your dad Billy Rudd, the former York City footballer?

  • Phil Ochs wrote this song about the state of Mississippi because of its shameful racist lynchings and corrupt politicians and judges. He wouldn't have given a toss about David Beckham, although he was drawn to the cult of the superstar and was slightly obsessed with Elvis.

Anyway, I don't think he would think this bitter whinging about a footballer was at all 'reflective of his spirit'. More to the point, PHIL OCHS WAS A RED!

  • nice work!! preach it Rev

  • Superb Colin !

  • It's funny, and thought provoking. Very good.

  • i love the way you say "i love you really david, i'm only jokin'" at the end after 9 mins of insulting him,in that wierd accent he has

  • very good i like it.

  • WE LOVE YOU COLIN! :D

  • good work mate ..

  • colin you legend

  • BRILLIANT!! Just as Ochs did the same to Nixon! Nice one bud!

  • Love the phrase 'media's pets' Such a lot of people build and submit their cv to become such a creature. Have the right kind of fun so you can feature in the Sun. Love your songs Colin.

  • LOL. :)

  • Looks like somebody's cage has been rattled....we mustn't criticise the media's pets!

I've never claimed originality(nobody is)but I'm honest and don't suffer pose and self-adoration that these so-called "stars" display to all who have eyes to see.Unfortunately I can't alter your perspective so that's that.

  • Hi. I agree that your music is full of substance lyrically, but to me the music is (no offense) just as derivative as any of the singers/songwriters you lampoon (Norah Jones etc). I found you through a comment you placed on another musician's site where you suggested that his music lacked substance. While I agree there IS substance to your lyrics and music, that substance, musically, is deeply indebted to the great songwriters of the 60s and classic folk song. Cheers!

  • Let me add here that I sincerely admire your talent and songwriting. I just wanted to make a point.

  • Nicely done.

  • Phil Ochs would be proud of this re-write of "Here's To The State of Mississippi". Thanks. Keep it up !
