This production number has none of the exuberance of the pre 1929 market crash that one would see at a school like TAIT. The faces, hairstyles, clothing and music are of the post WWII era. Even the dance really isn't the Varsity Drag. Check out Dorothy McNulty (Penny Singleton) leading the co-eds in the rousing "Varsity Drag" from the rarely seen 1930 film version of the musical GOOD NEWS.

Did Busby Berkeley do the choreography? It seems like he always used this style for his numbers. In fact it looked like the same style used in the 1940 MGM musical "Strike Up The Band" during the LaConga number with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney..

I can't find it, but one of the background women dancer visibly stumbles & almost falls when they are in formation moving toward the camera.

@ToughGuyMuffinMan When he was young, he ran through a glass door, severely damaging the muscles in his right arm and leaving his hand in sort of a claw-like shape. If you look carefully, you rarely see his right hand and he doesn't use his right arm very often.
