ok so i have a tank thats similar to a fish bowl. kind of like a cricket keeper or one of those starter kits for a hermit crab. i have two dwarf frogs, a guppy, and a danio. ill probably get a snail too. so lets say when the guppy and danio die, will a male betta be able to live in a small tank like that with two frogs? i know they can by themselves but i dont want to hurt or cause stress to the little frogs or the betta, for that matter. thanks!
@gottaluvhorses123 - Your fish bowl is far too small for 2 DAFs and a Betta.
All three are meat eaters, so you'll find the Betta will eat the food faster than the DAFs can find it. Usually when people decided to keep Bettas and DAFs together (why oh why?) the frogs starve.
Read the DAF page on the Aquarium Wiki Encyclopaedia web site.
:O one of my females is so aggressive that I had to separate her from the other. At first I thought she was a young male, but she is definately a female. She looks at everything in the tank like yours does and when she happy and/or angry she flushes the most amazing colours. Unfortunately I've had an out-break of neon tetra disease and have already lost my male to it and think I will also lose my other female by the end of the day.

how do we condition a female betta for spawning?

@fighter4111 - Type the word 'conditioning' into the website The Aquarium Wiki Encyclopaedia. The link is also in the Info section below the video.

When they're young they have stripes. But after a few months they develop strong solid colours.
I guess like most fish, if they get stressed they may lose some colour briefly.
I'm not going to stress my female Bettas to try and find out. hehe. ;-)

Thanks, I just got these two a few days ago.
They looked very pale and grey in the shop. Within hours of going into my 50L, they went fantastic colours as I knew they would.
Look out for my Female Betta splendens #2 video, it shows the colours more.

Very nice looking betta.
I think some of the females look better than most males.
