Regardless of your attempts to dodge and rationalize, reality is reality. In addition, I never said our imperfection is a sign of a creator. In fact, if you wish to be technical what I said is the fact that we were initially created good is a sign of the creator. Never said our imperfection is a sign. I did say is our imperfection is the reason there is pain.

God knows your heart. That is very clear in the Biblical text. Lusting after a woman is the same as adultery in the same way as hating another man is the same as killing him. God is all-knowing. Of course he is "invasive." He created you and knows everything you will ever feel, think, or do.

It isn't given to you to like. It is given to convict. Jesus is trying to make the point that even our thoughts stand against us, that there is nothing holy about us. Maybe you need to stop and ask exactly why you don' t like the idea of God judging our thoughts - are you like the rest of us and have condemning thoughts; thoughts for which you ought to repent?

@aggierev I can't be mad at your god because I don't believe in it or any other deities out there. But I can say that the Abrahamic idea that we are all pretty much scum is anti human. I was born ok the first time.

If you were good, you would have no interpersonal relationship problems. I don't know you personally but I thin it is safe to say you been sick and have had trouble in relationships of any type, just like everybody else. Because just like everybody else, myself included, you aren't as good as you think you are. That is the point that is being made.

You recommend that people look for a new church if their pastor is not able to give good answers. What do you recommend if there are none within a reasonable distance? We're looking at a four hour drive if we were to do so.
