  • @kenneyut I totally remember Maria Knight. Didn't she get a modeling contract from her drivers license photo??

  • @70conrad

You are so right....I had forgotten about that part......

However, she did not speak that well

  • @willmoney34 Yep, definitely remember Tia and Eva and of course Cindy who is married to Lou Gossett Jr. Also, Tracey Ross originally auditioned for the acting category but they were all full for the season and offered her spokesmodel. Smart move!

  • Anyone remember when Tia Carrere was in the leading lady category? Also, when Eva Larue(CSI Miami) was in the same category? Also, how about Cindy Jaems Reese? She was good too!

  • @willmoney34

I remember Cyndi James Reese..I remember she was on a segment called Reaching for the stars....a group of women auditioning for singing....she cried so much throughout the show...she was one of the chosen ones and then they went straight from there to the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson....

  • @willmoney34

I remember Tia.....if my memory serves me correctly, she did a M and M commerical with the the M and M talking as she is getting ready to bite into it LOL

  • @willmoney34 I found some songs by Suzanne. Wow! What a powerful voice. She doesn't look familiar to me though. With a voice like that, it's surprising she wouldn't have been a finalist or the winner.

  • @70conrad She does have an amazing voice! I was lucky enough to hear her live in a small jazz club and she was amazing.

  • @kenneyut Marla Heasley didn't return for the semi-finals because doing "The A Team" at the time.

  • @70conrad Wasn't Marla Heasley on a show called Matt Houston too? Think that was the name of it. I think I read that she went against Sharon Stone in the pilot and won?

  • @kenneyut I can help you out with the fourth semi-finalist who was the other finalist. It was Alisa Gyse who went on to play Deena in the Broadway revival of "Dreamgirls" in 1987. Remember she wore the illusion of a dress at the beginning of the number only to whip it off and reveal a VERY form fitting body suit. Ok, so what did you think of spokesmodels Alison Grisso, Lisa Parker, and Debra Chevalier? I thought there were all gorgeous!

  • @70conrad Alisa Gyse? Kenu from A Different World? I never knew that! I'd love to see that now!

  • @70conrad

Thank you...I now remember...she sang "once aint enough"-------Yes the above mentioned spokesmodels were all pretty...in order Tracey, Lisa, Allison and Debra...also do you remember Marla Heasley..she won the firs two shows and never came back for the semi finals for some reason-----

  • @70conrad

    Hey,

Just giving you the heads up that if you are interested in female vocalist, Penny Mealings videos are now posted (God bless the child, I am love, and I am telling you I am not going)----Again, I feel as though she should have won the whole thing that year..

  • @willmoney34 I remember Kirsten. Yes, she was great. Didn't she sing "superstition"? I need more info on Suzanne Palmer

  • @70conrad

Of course, how could we forget the great, one and only T. Renee Crutcher....she was the BOMB as well..not as good a Penny Mealing, but she was awesome...

Also, someone please refresh my memory as I am drawing a blank...for that season, I only remember 3 out of 4 of the female singers.....Monica Paige, T. Renee Crutcher, and Penny Mealing...who was the fourth....

  • @70conrad Suzanne Palmer was on Star Search around '87. Can't remember is she sang an R%B or jazz song. She won once or twice but was awesome! Don't know how she lost. She won on Showtime at the Apollo too. Won on there. I got to hear her live doing a jazz set. Maybe a dozen years ago, and she was BAD! For a while now from what I know she does lots of dance stuff. House etc. If you want do a search on youtube for a song called "There Will Come a Day [Epic Gospel House] Suzanne Palmer

  • @kenneyut....LOVED Nikki! Just the thought of her singing and dancing to "I want you back" puts a smile on my face.

  • @70conrad

Out of all seasons, I personally think that Penny Mealing was one of the best female singers and Sam Harris was one of the best male singers.....

  • @kenneyut Anyone remember Suzanne Palmer. She's another great singer.

  • I also loved the singers Cheryl Barnes and Nita Whitaker.

  • @70conrad

    Did you like Nikki Richards........

  • @kenneyut Nikki was/is great! Her competition Kirsten was really good too. Kirsten beat her in the regular season, but Nikki won in the semifinals.

  • @kenneyut "J" was the dancers who were from Japan and danced to "Smooth Criminal"

  • @kenneyut The Boys Club were great! Tony and Carrie were just okay to me. What did you think of "J"?

  • @70conrad

Refresh my memory....were they a dance group too...I think I vaguely remember

  • @kenneyut I can't say Mara was better then Catte as they were both incredible. I can say that I was rooting for Mara at the time, but later became a big Catte fan. I was also rooting for Roz! She was just so darn likeable and funny. I loved the arrangement of "Brown Eyes Blue" and do you remember the hilarious way she ended "Aint Nobody's business"? Peggy was also brilliant but sometimes I didn't understand her lyrics. She screamed amazingly though.

  • @70conrad

Beleive it or not, whenever I think of Roz, that is the first thing that comes to me.LOLOLOL

  • @70conrad

The Boys Club were another awesome dance group...I still remember watching the finals with one of my cousins and he was only 10 years old at the time, and he was rooting hard for them....Tony and Carrie were not bad.....what do you guys think......

  • @2007puffy Exactly. Since her win was the last show of 87, it was carried on to 88. I'm guessing they had already booked Sophia Bowen for 88 and figured Jacqueline Paige would provide a greater contrest for the semi-finals.

  • WOW!!! Never saw this girl...Cannot believe she didn't win the whole thing!

  • @italo36 Do you agree that Jacquie should have won? I thought Meilani was much more beautiful. I also noticed you were a Mara Getz fan as I was ;)

  • @70conrad

Do you belive Mara was Better than Catte.....

how ddi you like Roz Moorehead and Peggy Blue....

  • @kenneyut I remember rooting for Catte. You guys remember Michelle Wow? I thought she was really good too. I also remember rooting for Rozz. That was a pretty good season. Andrea Frierson was awfully good too. Also, liked Lisa Keith. Anyone remember a singer probably around that time named Sandy? Sandra? African American from Pensacola Florida. I remember she wore a gold dress? Can't remember the song she sang though.

  • @willmoney34

I do remember Michelle Wow...both her and Garcelle won the last night of season two and picked up at season three......Garcelle won two extra times and Michelle lost that first night.......Do you also remember on the last night of the second season, Michelle used her first name only and Garcelle used both first and last name and the beginning of season, Garcelle used first name only and Michelle used both her first and last name.

  • @kenneyut I must have missed this comment a few days ago. That's right about Garcelle and Michelle's names.I remember that too.On that episode Garcelle won again Jody Varble.(Only in Miami video.) Do you happen to remeber who Garcelle went against for 3rd win? Thought it was a tie? Then Garcelle lost to Aimee. (Highway of Love video) I'd like to have been able to find more info. about Michelle Wow. I thought she was good! She lost to Rosalyn?(Red hair from Canada) Rosalyn then lost to Lisa Keith

  • @willmoney34

It was Maria Knight....I dont need another hero mad max Tina Turner

  • @willmoney34

Andrea was awesome singer...I totally agree with you on that one....

  • @willmoney34

I wonder what Pat and Cat are up to now...that was another harsh blow when they lost to Christopher and Snowy....I must say however, when I met them in Atlantic City, they were very pleasant and down to earth...I did like that about them, but when it comes to dance talent, Pat and Cat ran rings around them......

  • too bad she never went far when she came back as the spokesmodel champion on the first show of Star Search 88, she lost on the very first show to a British model named Jacquie Paige in an audience tie-breaker.

  • So lovely! I remember being at the taping and when that heart broke to reveal her face, the studio audience actually applauded! No other model ever got applause in the middle of her photo session.

  • @70conrad Wow, I can see why you asked BSMuse to post this one!
