  • I LIKE LISTING TO IS MUSIC !THX

  • REEEVS

  • Without a doubt the prettiest and smoothest voice God ever gave human being.

  • Beautiful! Never heard this song and I love it. thanks.

  • Jim Reeves"s songs still live in my heart. The 1st one I fell for was, Put Your sweet lips a little closer to the phone. He was still alive then. When he died the world lost one of it's greatest, not just America. His music is appreciated by both young and old, Thank God for him.

  • I love good times. Cheers for this superb posting.

  • What a voice , what a song, means so much to lovers. Thanks for the post.

  • Somebody Special that I'm missing???

  • Somebody???

  • I love this song...

Wish somebody would sing it to me... (sigh)

  • I MISS U TO NIGHT HOLDING U IN MY ARMS MAKING LOVE TO YOU

  • To this day, nobody has ever sung in a rich mellow, baritone voice like Jim Reeves had. This song is an example of the unique talent that Reeves possessed as a country & western crooner. Lovely song.

  • I haven't gone through all the pages of comments, somebody may have already pointed this out, Jim recorded this song at his last RCA Studio B session on July 2, 1964. It was originally released as an album cut on the 1968 LP "A Touch Of Sadness', then as a single in 1972, along with being the title track from the 1972 "Missing You" LP.

  • Smoooooooooth. Sorry but NOBODY could or can sing like he could.

  • i have an old recording of webb pierce doing this song from the late 1950s and it is awfull. no one does this song like Jim Reeves!!

  • missing you............still

  • Absolutly beautiful..Love the lyrics to this wonderful song by the outstanding Jim Reeves God bless him...There will never be another like him...:)

  • This song was released circa 1970, years after Jim's passing. It hit the Top10 of the country charts. I was a high school kid at that time, and loved it ... still do.

  • Probably THE VOICE of All Time, BUT, THE

KING, Elvis Was GREAT a Voice to,

Jim Reeves, I think was THE VOICE OF LOVE SONGS.

This BEAUTIFUL rendition of MISSING YOU

SUPERB, as Only He could do it, LOVINGLY

  • I love you so..

  • MoonWind33,

What a beautiful video to team up with one of the most touching songs ever. Jim Reeves absolutely blew the other country singers out of the water with the possible exception of the great Johnny Cash. But JR's voice had perfect tone.I think PaulinaRena said it better than I ever could. Kudos to a wonderful video. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Jim conveys the sentiments of his songs like no other.

  • Jim Reeves had the smoothest voice of any male artist in country or perhaps, any genre of music..

  • I've always been real selective on Jim Reeves songs. Don'ty ask me why. I've just never been his biggest fan though I liked Mexican Joe, This is It, I know one and a few others. but this is absolutely the most beautiful recordings he's ever made IMO.

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs by Jim Reeves. I can listen to it for hours. Would be nice if they still made music like this today. I do not even listen to the radio anymore. Thanks for this.

  • It's been seven years since I lost my wonderful wife to cancer, so when I hear this song, many beautiful memories are relived. There are always tears, but there is also the assurance that all pain and suffering are gone and the best of life has begun and will never end.

This indeed is a memorable song, recorded by one of the top recording artists ever.

His sincere feeling and smooth style shines forth in all that he sings. Thanks for sharing such a great song and wonderful memories.

  • How should I take this? For what it is?

  • this is a great viedo!

  • Beautiful song done by one of the best voices in C&W music. His voice was rich, clear and unadultrated by modern crap...

  • Very nice version...........just wonder who has the original record? Is it Ray Peterson? Ray had this recorded way back 1960? or 1961.........

  • It doesn't matter who did it first. It has never been sung better or more beautifully

  • I miss my Jean so very much,we are thousands of miles apart. We both spend so much time emailing each other and talking on the phone. This lovely song helps to bring my beautiful Jean in Malta,

closer to me in the UK.She is a real ray of sunshine in my life, and makes me so happy. x

  • Ray Peterson of "Tell Laura I Love Her" and "Corrina Corrina" fame had a big hit of this song back in the early sixties.

  • I have always loved this beautiful song. It says so much and is a love song that anyone can identify with if they've ever had a true love. Jim's fabulous, mellow, warm voice is unsurpassed and full of romance which is such a pleasure to hear. Moonwind, your video here is awesome and thank you so much for sharing it. - Paula

  • @PaulinaRena I agree 110% Paula!

  • When hearing these songs for the first time it seems easy to sing them, but Jims voice is so pure it can't be duplicated ,believe me I've tried.

  • Never be a prettier voice. I just wish when he left us he could have willed it to me.

  • Jim recorded this song at his last Studio B session on July 2, 1964.

  • If I remember correctly, this song was not released unitl the early 70's, because of the suggestive lyrics..."...you were in my arms tonight making love to me." Chet Atkins who was the head of the label and said that in his opinion, the lyrics were too suggestive. When it was finally released, it went to #1.

  • This song was originally released as an album cut on the 1968 LP "A Touch Of Sadness" (the primary single from that album was "When You Are Gone"), then as a single (and as the title song on the "Missing You" LP) in 1972. I had always wondered why they didn't release it right after Jim died, I'm sure you're right about Chet Atkins (and perhaps Mary Reeves as well?) thinking those lyrics were too suggestive.

  • Missing You and SInce You Are Gone went to number 1 in the early 70's. You're right, Missing You was in his 1968 album but from what I remember, it was not heavily promoted as a single because of the lyrics. I'm thinking that Mary Reeves DID want all of his songs released but there was opposition because maybe the industry thought that it wouldn't work out finacially. I remember Atkins saying that there were a slew of Jim's songs that had never been released.

  • In the early 2000's a company called "Voicemasters" released some demos that had never been released before, many of them were very good. My two favorite previously unreleased vocals were "Subconscious Mind" and a rockabilly song, "Step Aside Shallow Water". I believe Jim wrote both of them, I know he wrote "Shallow Water".

  • if they thought these were suggestive,

they would have a heartatttack now. only

wish i could have seen my Favorite male

singer in person. Was on;ly a kid when he

died. Miss You Jim. You're voice brings

    back many happy memories.

  • A great song that was sung by quite a few artists, and several versions reached Top 40 status (while this didn't), but Jim's rendition was better than all of the rest, in my opinion.

  • My Dad's song.......oh God....his drinking song.He would say "put on Missing You" or "Sweet Caroline".And we would play the songs because we knew somehow it made him mellow and calm and happy.Bittersweet.........to my core.RIP. Oh,how i would love to put the record on again.........as the tears roll down my face.

  • Its an amazing love song...heart warming. I just dream away thinkin how much i miss my husband gerry<3 i love him deeply

  • Moonwind, Helen would have been proud of you for putting this song on YouTube in her honor's, it's truly a heart warming song.

  • Always loved this song. One of his most dreamy

and romantic songs. Wonderful. Thank you.

  • beautiful words wrote by a beautiful lady
