  • How in the world is he getting that sound out of those loafers!? They look like house slippers! I want to see the bottoms of those shoes!

  • defo 80's, every time i log on i watch this this clip, luv it, Thats when irish danceing was good xxx

  • Well done! I recognize the hair and the clothes (rolled up pants on girls in addition to all of your comments) as EIGHTIES. I was not _there_ at the filming, but I was THERE and was around the same age during this time period.

  • Shades of Riverdance

  • freeman hardy willis shoes!!!! but he's a great dancer, its all in the ankles and carraige, fink i spelt that wrong!!!!!!#

  • what's the second reel called?? A lad from my university was playing for the set dances at a local pub

  • THE CLOTHES AND HAIR TELL ME MID 80'S.

MEANWHILE, I'M AMAZED HE CAN GET THAT SOUND OUT OF THOSE ENCREDIBLY PLIABLE-LOOKING LOAFERS.

HE MUST HAVE DOCTORED THEM WITH SOMETHING HARD OF THE SOLES.

  • this is in the 1980's

  • @jfkennedy3 you are wrong It is quite definatley verified seventys

  • @mcqeng I think you mean " Seventies" and also " definitely "

  • Quite definatley verified seventys

  • @mcqeng id say very late 70s or very early 80s 81 if pushed

  • id say ur video is around the mid 80s ,with the style of clothes ,and every 1 seems 2 b dressed in 80s style

  • This is great!!! The true Irish dancing!!!

  • The boys of Blue hill

  • still no reply??? what a shame, would realy like to know!!! was it Ted Kavanagh???

  • I am not sure who this is the oly information

i have is that he was thought to dance by a Baptist Minister and the clip was taken in a hall in Derry

  • my dance teacher was taught irish dancing by a nun that actually taught at my high school lol

  • great dancer..... brings back old memories of how it was done when i was younger

  • @hoopsy1888

    Awful like Martin Boulger's steps

  • Brilliant! Do you know who this is?

  • same here i would like 2 see more of this man dacing also, wheredid u dance m8??? please reply

  • fabulous dancing, but the absence of flares, the loafer/white sock combination, and the beginnings of a mullet haircut clearly place this in the 80s rather than the 70s

  • Please watch the Mulagh Half Set which was clarly filmed in 1973. Note the white socks the absence of flares. I do not know what a mullet hair cut looks like, but clearly the hair style's are simalar for the time period.I think Sheeplegs you clarly dont live in Ireland.

  • I don't but in the 80s I taught 2nd generation Irish kids in a school in London and I certainly recognise the fashion, especially as white socks were not part of school uniform! btw a mullet is the long at the back/short at the sides combination, famously sported by Bono during the 80s You're right about the Mulagh set but the dancers are the pre-flare generation and there may be examples of flares in the audience - alas there are no camera shots to support my theory! Great clips though. Thanks!

  • I am fairly certain from the video quality, that it could not have been the 70's. It is filmed on a video tape camera with zoom lense quality that the average person did not own. These types of cameras did not become available until the 80's, when they were mass produced. I don't see what living in Ireland has to do with that.

  • Absolutely wonderful! I would love to see more of this man dancing.

  • Long before Riverdance there was this amazing talent. This guy does steps I've never seen before! I wonder if he kept up with his dancing and where he is today. Thanks for sharing such a great performance.

  • amazing!!! the hornpipe is super!! reminds me of the worlds years ago form its beginnings!!!
