I know what you mean about spending 5 days trying to film them...sometimes they will actually co-operate, but usually its a quick buzz in and then gone. The ones here will fight during mating season, then they all get along after thats over with. Once it comes time for them to start getting ready for migration ( now ) the fighting will start again.
@CasioEXF1Freak I spent about an hour a day in the mornings trying to film them. I probably compiled 300 clips and 99+% was junk- out of focus, out of frame, bad lighting, etc. I'm definitely seeing a lot more hummers this year. These guys should be flying south soon and then we'll see the Allens or Annas hummingbirds in the winter. They are emptying the feeder in about 5 days or less. 300fps made it a lot easier to keep them in frame though... lol
@weiss27md I think the most I have seen is 3 at the feeder at one time. Sometimes two will be feeding and they don't see each other since their view is blocked, then they see each other, and it's ON!
@daewooparts I should put some caffeine in the feeder and see how wild they get. They are pretty entertaining to watch. Sometimes they fly just a foot or two away from you as they chase each other.
@KidsWithGuns1992 I tried to throw all sorts of emotions into this video. The thing that struck me was how incredibly nimble these birds are. I had a really hard time tracking them, most of the time it was luck I captured them at all.
I love the A10 sounds you added at the beginning!

It would have been just a little more epic if dog-fighting sounds were included - even if it was old WW2 props going at it.
Awesome video nonetheless.
Excedrine 5 months ago
@Excedrine I was thinking about doing that. I have a lot of WW2 fighter sounds from stuff I filmed I was thinking of trying to use.

They fly by so fast and I just hope one doesn't hit me one day. I like watching them, wood peckers and painted buntings.

Who knew hummingbirds had built-in mini-guns?!?
Hiluxtaco 5 months ago
humming birds are territorial but I've seen 4 drink from the same feeder at one time. I also have a pic of 5 of them very near the feeder.

@KidsWithGuns1992 It is meant to entertain. It is ment to see things you wouldn't see with the naked eye so it has also a "discovery" value

@215alessio But is it meant to be funny? Something is amusing about hardcore music and birds flying around, hahaha.

@KidsWithGuns1992 I guess the music was chosen for it's fast beats, simulating the fast flapping of their wings...
you should have figured it out by now
Anyway ask the maker. I am just a spectator here

@215alessio Yes, I know, I realize that. I just thought it seemed pretty comical.
