More research needs to be done on smoking. I do not believe that smoking is as bad as people think it is. If it was so bad, then why does Japan, a country with double the percentage of smokers than the USA have a much less occurrence per 100,000 people of lung cancer than the US? And the life expectancy is 10 years more there! I suggest you all Google "in defense of smokers" It's a good read. Very eye opening to the anti smoking agenda.
You realize that the lungs aren't the most damaged part of the body in relation to smoking, it causes MUCH more damage, comparatively, to the heart and cardiovascular system than the lungs.
stopped 4 days ago, every time i want one I just think those fucking things'll kill you! Unfortunately I look up at night and realise I can't see 93% of the stars up there so what is breathing this shit doing to me?
Every smoker soons realizes that it tastes bad when they inhale.I could quit cigarettes but i find stoping smoking marijuana quite hard. I think i will always have a marijuana spliff every now and then even if only once a year.
You want to know how i stopped smoking!? you want to know how to quit with ease? Start smoking/eating weed, im not asking you to do an illegal drug, im just asking you to open up your options. It helped me, maybe it can help you too.
I have smoked... It was fun and all doing smoke rings and that, but then it got boring and I just stopped :P I dont understand how people are struggling with it. Its just so easy to stop lol.
@AaL3XaNd3R09 how is it going? i want to quit soon too... just need to figure out a good time where im actually in with a fighting chance of being successful..
@JessicaBurgio Its going steady for now. To be honest, I've been in a battle with it for months. Not to put your hopes down. For me it has taken an entire change in mental perspective. Usually I smoke as a normal part of life just like eating or breathing. Had to figure out it isn't something I need, as much as I thought it was. The hardest part was overcoming the fear of not smoking and the associated anxiety that my day would be terrible because of it. Turns out my day is better and fuller.
@AaL3XaNd3R09 yeah thats exactly my biggest worry.. i've tried before. 1 time i lasted a week by reading a book, one other time i used patches. another time i used the will power approach and lasted 3 days. and this year is the 10th year i smoke... if someone had told me when i bought my first pack.. i always accredited myself to be stronger than this.. but i know what you mean, its the idea of changing, of anxiety, or my life being different.. even though i know it'd be different for the better
@AaL3XaNd3R09 it was! good luck with quitting!! i dont know where you live, but im from Europe where no one looks down on you for smoking.. i could feel the huge difference when i lived in the US. there people who dont smoke really make sure you know how disgusting it is. thats when i made all my attempts to quit lol
@JessicaBurgio Thanks! Good luck to you too! Yes. That is completely true. I live in the US and every time you smoke around a non-smoker they give you a lecture on how "stupid, unhealthy, expensive and disgusting" it is. Sure I know that and every other smoker does haha But It sometimes goes overboard to the point of harassment. But they mean well. Its just there is a HUGE push to stop smoking in the US. Cancer is out of control and I think that has to do w/ more than just cigs but... diff story
@AaL3XaNd3R09 hey i quit smoking!!!! :) it's been 16 days now!! and i totally agree with you.. ok. smoking does cause cancer, its a fact. but really people cannot be serious when they harass smokers calling them all sorts of names cuz they smoke, while they are drinking a coke, and munching on a chcocolate bar which have both been found of being as addictive as any substance contained in sigarettes.... like, seriously? anyway, back on topic, how is going for you?? :)
@JessicaBurgio Great!!! Good Job! eh... I ended up smoking again. When I got to the point that I didn't even think/care to smoke and life was going good. I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while and ended up smoking with him. We talked for about 40 minutes and I was like, "A few aren't going to get me started again, what the hell." and I was wrong haha. I'm going to try to quit again and soon! Got a lot going on this year! Thanks for contacting me back about that! Keep me updated!
@AaL3XaNd3R09 oh noooooo!!! there is no such thing as "just a sigarette", when i quit the first time that's how i restarted and i ended up smoking for another 4 years! but nothing is lost.. quitting is a matter of practice, so next time you'll know better :) just don't take too long before you quit again... !
@AaL3XaNd3R09 oh yeay!!! i just saw your message!! are you on nicotine patches or some other substitute? it can help... how is it going now?? I have been a non smoker for a month now! never felt better and happier! :)
this is a good video. It helps me as a non smoker to remain one even if i am tempted sometimes to smoke. esp the part where it shows the healthy lung and the smoker's lung side by side. it's really scary..imagine that!
Well this is just depressing, I won't quit. This video just made me lose a piece of the faith I had for the human race. This clip is just stupid on every scale that you can measure stupidity on. The only thing missing was a red-nosed robot pony dancing on a pot of rainbows while eating turtles and claiming to be a jetpack.
@tuteror The people who die from tobacco usually have asthma, COPD or some other serious disease already and still keep smoking, which is just stupid. Just like drinking lots of alcohol while having a malfunctioning liver etc. A man with good physical health will most likely not catch any diseases from smoking. Also, ~2/3 of the risks of smoking can be evaded if you stop smoking at the age of ~50. After that age, your body will start failing anyway. Til then, it's a pretty safe hobby.
ive been smoking for about 3 years, as well as been smoking pot, drinking, and doing drugs. today is my first day of quitting all of the above cold turkey (except for alchohol. a beer or two once in a while is ok) so far its been hell but i think i can do it. and i owe it all to an epiphany i had while on a wild mushroom trip over the weekend lol oh well. as long as it gets done

@SSSSSSSHASHA smoke it self is bad for ur lungs to operate perfectly but truthfully i believe that the tobacco factories put chemicals in them to make them more harmful and addictive... tobacco is natural but tobacco with 4,000 chems on it is POISON... Weed if grown natural with out being sprayed an with out being smoked thru blunts is nowhere near as harmful as cigs& gets u ^... HOOKAH? well its been chemically altered to get u high so... it aint natural is it? but its totally up to the smoker.

I know how bad smoking is but honestly I don't care. I'm I actually smoked a cigarette as I was watching this just bacuse I enjoy it. Smoking is simply something I enjoy. Like many others have said, everyone including me is going to die someday but if I enjoy smoking so I might as well go ahead and enjoy it while I can and meet the same fate as if I didn't. At least I'm doing something I enjoy. Almost everything in life is bad for you so why should alone smoking matter? I do it because I like it
ALERT TO ALL FSC CIGARETTE SMOKERS! Phillip Morris US Patent #20100071710 and RJ Reynolds US Patent#20100122708 published in 2010 explain the adding of copper, cerium, iron and yttrium oxides to tobacco filler, filters and/or the bands of paper present in FSC cigarettes. THEY ARE NOT JUST "paper speed bumps". They are all known to accelerate lung and heart disease at phenomenal rates. I URGE YOU TO RESEARCH all of the above. This explains the metallic taste and sickness people have experienced.
I have been smoking since i was 23 .Its been 6 years. It has given me nothing. Its just a evil , disgusting habit. Here is the list of things i got from smoking
1. breathing disorder
2. I forget things very fast.
3. Cant think properly all the time.
4. Breathing problems
5.Bronchitis once every few months
6. Still have chronic bronchitis.
I haven't smoked since yesterday. I need to gather all my strength to fight this evil.
@MrDestiny527 destroy all the fags you own. lock yourself in your house for a few weeks, make yourself. only leave your room to eat and drink. do this for a month. you wont want anymore
I have been a smoker for 8 years and i gave up smoking about a year ago (cold turkey). Trust me, THERE IS NOTHING BETTER YOU CAN DO. Stop living with a constant fear of a fatal disease. Think of the pain that you can cause to your loved ones.
ok so I quit 6 months ago tried smoking a cig the other day was not as good as i was hoping in the back of my mind how i quit was evertime i was craving i would eat a lot of food and after i digested some of the food i would do like sit-ups and push-ups till i was exhausted another thing is if you work somewhere that a lot of people smoke do not go anywhere near where they are or you might start again too like 8 trys for me to quit and cold turkey is the answer no weaning crap
I never could even stand the damn smell of the bastards . I did smoke weed for like 10 years though , ( threw a bong ) and i really dont see any bad health affects on me
What the smokers need is something far more impactful.
Using the secondhand smoke point, how about a commercial that has a parent smoking in proximity to a child, then a flashforward to that child dying an excruciating death from cancer, as a teen?
@BouncyBabiie good point. the only problem is the when and the how. Smoking has been called the 13 year suicide, because it takes 13 years of you life. My grandad used to smoke, you should see him now, he cant walk 20m without having to stop for a breath, couldnt walk up even 5 steps. In hospital every other week, often overnight for smoking related illness, and BIG needles. Cant do anything with his grand children. Cant do much with his wife...
wait...this is how it affects the LUNGS not the BODY... the body would be... increased aging, yellowish tinge of skin, curling of finger nails, sagging of skin.
actually, thats an excuse that many smokers use. You can avoid this by eating less. I dont mean starving yourself, but eat three regular meals a day. Drink lots of water, and sometimes juice. Some people do gain wait, only because the urge for a cigarette makes them start snacking a ton. Anyways, once you quit, you have more endurance, so you can exercise more effectively, thus burning off excess fat.
During the first couple years It is true you may be able to quit at anytime, but after the 2 years you're addicted. Think about it, if you work out for 2 years you're buff as fuck. You smoke for 2 years well shit you didn't get any better at anything.
Life live it master something - don't master smoking.
great. I quit a week ago, after years of back and forth. every morning I watch antismoking commercials on youtube. it becomes more difficult to lie to myself about smoking.
i used to smoke 2 packs a day 40 ciggrattes toeghather exculding the nights all i had to do was go to a coarding skool and it was easy as hell forme to quit
I've "quit" hundreds of times. Usually, I have no problem with the first week "I'm losing my mind" feeling. This feeling is predictable and easy to manage. The hard thing, however, is that as the weeks pile up, I start thinking about cigarettes more and more. Thinking about them is a real mental indulgence. I then become fixated. Finally, I'm out drinking with friends, and I RELAPS. Oh that sweet, sorrifull surrender
yeah, i get the same thing. as i wrote above, i'm trying to bombard myself with antismoking messages, so that i can avoid the relapse. and avoiding drinking with smokers.
I've been smoking ciggs for 7 years and I always get a smoker cough every so often its suckss.. I try to quit but its like a temptation haha . no really though its hard to quit if you really want to you can I quit for 3 months once but it didt las because im around people that smoke
@SERKIN99 Nobody fucking smokes to look cool, get that shit out of your head, you get a 1 minute - 2 minute light headedness, i do regret smoking but i only smoked 9 cigs in my life, proud i didnt get addicted. but no one smokes to look cool.
iv never smocked be4 so i dont know what the addction level really is. any smocker out there mind telling me how its like going a long time without a cigerette?
well basically when u smoke, it gives u a calm feeling. For instance, for people who get anxious, or have 'bad nerves" which means ur mind jus has a urge for u 2 have a cigarette--(this is where the addiction comes in; a.k.a nicotine)--i smoke and im 17yrs old and 2 tell da truth when a average smoker doesent have a ciggarette for a extened period of time the user has discomfort, sometimes gets irratated or at times have a "bitchy mood"
@grrrrrrrrrrrreg, nothing "seems " to be wrong with your dad but did you ask him if hes got problems? better yet did you even ask his doctor? gezs man you seriously need a heads up.
i started since i was 15, now am 26, and i jst quit, n i will never smoke again!! its a very hard sacrifice to do, and am happy that i have not to burn my money into ashes again....
Google Allen Carr easyway - get his book you can download free. Read it carefully line by line and smoke while you do if you like. At the end you will want to stop and you can stop with no pain or craving and never smoke again in your life!
@Smogypogy I started when I was 15 also. People say you can't get addicted if you only do it for a few months but I was realllyy addicted and I wanted to fit in with the "cool kids". Looking back on it I feel like an idiot but at the same time im glad its over with and I dont wanna be anywhere near cigarette smokers ever again!!!!
no,.. it's very hard to stop smoking especially to those who are a smoker for years., i understand it., iv'e been there but you need some determination to stop and totally quit smoking
im 16 and i do want to quit ive been smoking for 3 years and its the hardest thing to do.if i dont have a ciggarett i dont feel hole..it tastes good to me but its not worth it..soooo anyone wanna buy me a pack of nicorette or somthing
@mantachian really? You're going to say, "head to the gym instead" You stupid fuck. It's not like that. Do you head to the gym when you need to get out of the music from a loud party for a while? do you always head for the gym when bored? do you always head for the gym when in need for a break? No,, you don't. THe gym is not like the act of smoking at all. It's a completely different mind set and has a completely different use. No one is going to buy your bullshit.
@mantachian Thats good. A couple of days and it's gonna be a month since i've smoked. I miss it sometimes but i'm still movin on, don't know about any future or about saying i quit and all that. I don't think it was that tough though. Like we always say, it's all in the mind. All the best to one and all...
Everyone should read Allen Carrs book Easyway. It's great, I gave up straight away (even before i'd finished the book). Non smokers should read it too so they start to understand every time they lecture to a smoker about how it kills them, they just make the smoker want a cigarette. non-smokers! this does not help people stop smoking! get it!!!
He talks about the feeling of the hit...amongst other things, It helps you understand why you feel the fear and panic of missing that hit and losing a 'friend' when you think about quitting. There is more to it than that though... Hard to explain what's in the book (it's an audio book too if you can't be bothered or don't have time to read). Give it a go...what have you got to lose??
I quit smoking cold turkey 5 days ago after a 10 year habit. I can't stop think thinking of those tasty little cancer sticks, but my body is already feeling 100% better.

Why is this shit legal?
trnupeti 11 months ago

I have been a smoker for 8 years and i gave up smoking about a year ago (cold turkey). Trust me, THERE IS NOTHING BETTER YOU CAN DO. Stop living with a constant fear of a fatal disease. Think of the pain that you can cause to your loved ones.

No, this video is not enough.
What the smokers need is something far more impactful.
Using the secondhand smoke point, how about a commercial that has a parent smoking in proximity to a child, then a flashforward to that child dying an excruciating death from cancer, as a teen?

you have to die one way so i smoke =]
BouncyBabiie 1 year ago
@BouncyBabiie good point. the only problem is the when and the how. Smoking has been called the 13 year suicide, because it takes 13 years of you life. My grandad used to smoke, you should see him now, he cant walk 20m without having to stop for a breath, couldnt walk up even 5 steps. In hospital every other week, often overnight for smoking related illness, and BIG needles. Cant do anything with his grand children. Cant do much with his wife...

stop to smoke and get fat [you can also die from it]
fddadou 2 years ago
actually, thats an excuse that many smokers use. You can avoid this by eating less. I dont mean starving yourself, but eat three regular meals a day. Drink lots of water, and sometimes juice. Some people do gain wait, only because the urge for a cigarette makes them start snacking a ton. Anyways, once you quit, you have more endurance, so you can exercise more effectively, thus burning off excess fat.
jujmjjujmj 2 years ago
During the first couple years It is true you may be able to quit at anytime, but after the 2 years you're addicted. Think about it, if you work out for 2 years you're buff as fuck. You smoke for 2 years well shit you didn't get any better at anything.
Life live it master something - don't master smoking.

@vngo It us impossible to become mentally addicted to marijuana. It is just as adddicting as say.. shopping. Caffine is more addicting.

carsfor4life 2 years ago
I've "quit" hundreds of times. Usually, I have no problem with the first week "I'm losing my mind" feeling. This feeling is predictable and easy to manage. The hard thing, however, is that as the weeks pile up, I start thinking about cigarettes more and more. Thinking about them is a real mental indulgence. I then become fixated. Finally, I'm out drinking with friends, and I RELAPS. Oh that sweet, sorrifull surrender
OffWhiteCow 2 years ago
yeah, i get the same thing. as i wrote above, i'm trying to bombard myself with antismoking messages, so that i can avoid the relapse. and avoiding drinking with smokers.
good luck.

well basically when u smoke, it gives u a calm feeling.
>>This is wat nicotine does

Google Allen Carr easyway - get his book you can download free. Read it carefully line by line and smoke while you do if you like. At the end you will want to stop and you can stop with no pain or craving and never smoke again in your life!

@Smogypogy I started when I was 15 also. People say you can't get addicted if you only do it for a few months but I was realllyy addicted and I wanted to fit in with the "cool kids". Affect vs. Effect
Sorry, just a pet peeve.
Title should be The Effects of smoking on the human body... Or How smoking Affects the human body....
Just saying
Qwertyky009 2 years ago
explain the difference I've actually wondered what it was for a while
MackenzieSutherland 2 years ago
Affect - Verb; Effect - Noun.(mostly, or for this matter).
Affect: "To influence"
e.g. Smoke affects the lungs...
Effect: "Outcome"
The effect of smoking is, ultimately..lung cancer...

ppl quit smoking, its bad - head for the gym instead.
im done with ciggarets, and i havent smoked for 2 weeks now, and have no plans of starting again.
mantachian 3 years ago 15
@mantachian really? You're going to say, "head to the gym instead" You stupid fuck. It's not like that. Do you head to the gym when you need to get out of the music from a loud party for a while? do you always head for the gym when bored? do you always head for the gym when in need for a break? No,, you don't. THe gym is not like the act of smoking at all. It's a completely different mind set and has a completely different use. No one is going to buy your bullshit.
TheVaultingFig 1 year ago 2
@mantachian Thats good. A couple of days and it's gonna be a month since i've smoked. I miss it sometimes but i'm still movin on, don't know about any future or about saying i quit and all that. I don't think it was that tough though. Like we always say, it's all in the mind. All the best to one and all...
fa1705 1 year ago
Everyone should read Allen Carrs book Easyway. It's great, I gave up straight away (even before i'd finished the book). Non smokers should read it too so they start to understand every time they lecture to a smoker about how it kills them, they just make the smoker want a cigarette. non-smokers! this does not help people stop smoking! get it!!!
PhotoKate72 3 years ago
So,how does it work? I tried patches once
but missed that hit you get with the draw on a cigarette. I gave up drinking so I suppose it can't be that difficult, can it?
FENDIN10 3 years ago
He talks about the feeling of the hit...amongst other things, It helps you understand why you feel the fear and panic of missing that hit and losing a 'friend' when you think about quitting. There is more to it than that though... Hard to explain what's in the book (it's an audio book too if you can't be bothered or don't have time to read). Give it a go...what have you got to lose??
PhotoKate72 3 years ago
I quit smoking cold turkey 5 days ago after a 10 year habit. I can't stop think thinking of those tasty little cancer sticks, but my body is already feeling 100% better.
