I lost you on the ignition part. You really didn't show what u did u just showed what it looked like at the end. i have a Fierce Audio - Adjustable Line Level Controller that im trying to install the instructions suck and website does too it has 6 lines two brown and two pairs of wires for the speakers... i connected the the speaker wires but what are the brown wires for,,, instructions dont say nothing,,,,, i bought it at best buy... i need help
You should have put the LOC in the trunk by the Factory Monsoon amp!!
1. Dismantling that PITA dash is not necessary. 2. You can adjust your LOC with ease down the road. 3. Your RCA cables are much shorter. 4. All power & remote wires you need are accessible at the Monsoon amp.
Power wire & RCAs should also never be run together.
I noticed that the amp I bought suggested that I use 4 gauge power and ground cable. Is there a distribution block that goes 4gauge to 4 4 gauge connections? I was at first afraid that I would need to run a new power wire from the battery to the trunk again just to have another amp. With the amp remote on, do you just use the same cable for the first amp? That would make a new amp install so simple. With one more amp my system would be complete.
a distribution block is only needed if your running multiple amps. The amp recommending 8 guage means that that is the smallest wire to use. Remember, smaller the wire, the more electrical resistance, and vise versa. Bigger is better with wiring... ALWAYS. Not bashing ur vid man, just informing u.
@megafast13 Yeah I ended up just running the amp/sub to a switch for the lead. I tried just about every wire on my stock harness so I'm guessing mine didn't have one lol. I also used my line converter to my previous stock trunk sub so It ended up being easy.
@Superfizzo Yeah subs shouldnt actually be tuned that way, I didnt have an O-Scope at the time but now I do so if your going to tune your amps thats the best way!
Hey can anyone help me. I have a 2006 Hyundai sonata v6. And I was tring to tap into my rear speaker wires and both of the speaker wires on my rear speaker showed positive. So I don't know which one is negative ? Can anyone help me?
i just put 1 12 woofer and i used a converter but i tapped into the rear speakers and i tapped into the wiper sw fuse for the remote on the amp the g6 radio fuse stays on
great video! I have 05 G6 in which I added LOC in the trunk tappin in to the rear speakers for my audio signal. Only thing I did differently than you in used a much simplier remote turn on for the amp, I used a cig lighter 2 in 1 adapter and cut one end off and wired it together so when I plug it in that turns on the amp. That way I can turn off the bass @ a moments notice like if the Po-Po is round the corner lol
waste of money paying this guy just use the rear speakers use the high inputs on the amp. and run the power and ground and remote just the antenna thats it
@MrSnakeTM.........if your amp has high level imputs your right this can be done that way also, in some cases some amps have an auto detect feature saving you from having to run a remote line in to the amp it just turns itself on when it detects a signal....also its not the antenna wire, most decks will have a remote line out...Do not use your antenna turn on lead. Perhaps befor you give false information you should know what your talking about first...
I have an 06 cuvuc EX w/o navi or premium speaker system. I just have the factory head unit. I want to install an amp by splicing into the rear speakers wires only to put a line out convertor. Then taking the rcs's to the amp and then to subwoofer. Is this right? Like can u explain to me how i install a line out convertor exactly pleasr
@Gallardo983 I would go to a site that has the wiring colors for your cars radio, alot of people seem to think its easier to go to the rear speakers, when infact if your using the line converter most will have a remote output for your amp turn on, and all of the nessesary hook ups are on the radios wiring harness to complete the installation..aside from that it makes for a cleaner install. Hope this helps.
Hey can anyone help me? I have a 2007 Pontiac grand prix, i installed a aftermarket stereo today and i cant get a switched source from the pink wire on the ignition because i already tapped into it with the remote turn on for the amp, can i tap into the pink wire under the steering wheel?
insightful video but you really need to meter those ajustments and us a an o-scope on that amp to tune it the right way. and you should always use the rear speakers no question there. as for the ground again many cars have many different metals all at once so 'looks thick" means nothing, again a multi meter here will show the true quality of that ground, i,m just glad you didn't use a factory bolt cause thats the worst thing other that someone using drywall screws and a washer
@DeVilleL13 Thanks for the comment...the video is about how to install a line converter not how to tune your system...also going to the rear speakers is the easiest way of getting the line level however most line level converters have hook ups to 12V constant, and switched aswell as ground so that it can have the proper hook up for your remote turn on lead. As for your ground comment, a ground is only as good to what that metal is welded too...using a multi meter means nothing.
@Accordian85 You should rename this to connect a line converter, the video is riddled with poor install, sorry but it is. Everything I wrote is true and proper, as for the comment about the ground. Yes a meter is needed to ensure a proper ground for quality install, anything else is just half ass. Look everything you did was a guess and sorry but thats half ass. A better way is to use a 3sixty and do it right. Good luck in you connecting and take comments as way to learn more.
hi there thank u very much but there is one thing more i would like to know i have to install the line converter to the fornt speakers or to the back becuase my line converter has just 2 line,
I have a ford ranger with no after market radio i have a high/low adaptor ( that makes it where i can put rca's up to it) but i want to keep all my speakers working could i just cut in to my rear speaker wire and tie in the adaptor and it will still work or do i have to use the tapping skill.
Yes you can tap into the rear speakers using the rear speaker leads off the back of the radio...google " Ford Ranger Radio Wiring" dont forget to include the year, and it will tell you what wires to tap into :)
Thumbs up if you never heard attention whore before... Fuck your knowledge way behind mine,, j.k dont take it seriously i jus wanted to write it out for ppl.

@bluepit2k7 No only when the key is turned on...if your amp remains on its because you a constant voltage going to the remote turn on lead. Read the Manual your amp came with for proper connection.

Hey everyone! I need help with THIS: I already have a Boss CX800-1600W CHAOS EXXTREME SUBWOOFER! But i have a little problem. I have 2boss 12" 800watts subwoofer + 2boss 8" 400watts SUBWOOFER + 1Boss 300watts tweeters 2x 150watts each. @SGTB33FY Its possible, gauge of wire should be determined by the amount of watts/power that your amp is putting out, there are sites on the web that have calculators for determining proper wire gauge!

Hey have the same car I'm running a big belle sti 1300d but was just wondering how to wire my sub out on my amp I'm running the rear output on my amp because the sub out is only one RCA and it just keeps cutting out can u help me pls??
for these g6s could i just put a new aftermarket sub in the truck where my stock one is. cuz my car has a stock sub. but its blown.so i was thinkin a could just wire a new aftermarket sub in to those wires would that work?
instead of stripping and saudering, i would suggest using clips that you can get from autozone or oreilly... you forgot to mention advising capaciters, you created a corrosion spot on the ground, it would be easier to put an endclip on the end of the groundwire and put it to an existing ground to prevent corrosion, and rather than usinng fuses, heres a little trick i use. autozone sales breakers for cars that go up to to 200 amps if im not mistaken. instead of using five dollar fuses, check it.

I want to do the same thing, however. Would it not be easier to hook the line converter up in the trunk? splice into the rear speaker wiring harness for your source. You can use an ignition source from the rear fuse box and run the ground similar to how you did. You would eliminate having to tear your dash apart! You would eliminate running long RCAs from the dash to the rear. What you have done here looks great and well done for sure.
i bought an aftermarket head unit and tapped into the ign/switch wire you mentioned and it worked for not even 24 hours and now it doesn't work and neither does my turn signals. They dont even click or light up on the dash. Any idea what happened?

@warrior2304 shud hav just bought an aftermartket plug from metra specified for ur car, im a professional installer nd have seen ppl try there own installs and seriously fuk up there cars, for changin radios theres no need 2 use the ignition wire in the key harness, everythin u need is rite where the old radio was, if udk wht wire is which look up a diagram or go to ur local stereo shop and c if they hav a plug for ur car in stock
hey i have the same amp but when i installed mine the blue light flashes... i duno whats wrong with it.
ive checked all the wiring, im sure the ground is good and there shouldnt be any problem with the power wire becuase the light is flashing so its getting power.

I have an 06 g6 coupe with the monsoon system and was wondering how to hook my system up. doesnt help that i've never hook a system up, so this video helps greatly. now its time to try it out... fingers crossed! lol
hey buddy whats a good line converter? cause i have one but it sounds sort of terrible on my factory radio...someday i would buy a dvd stereo but eventually at sometime not so soon....ohhh & very nice work neatly done A+.
Ok well I tried hooking it up to my head unit but the amp turn on never worked. Maybe I used the wrong wires? Can you tell me which ones to use with what wire ?
hey, awesome info man, but in the future i would have to recommend that you dont use yellow wire anywhere near the dash... yellow wire from the factory from any car is universally for air bag systems.
@erikman89 Thank You Im glad you got some use from the information posted, As for the Yellow Wire "Under the dash" Its the color code for Switched Ignition source at the KEY. I think you meant Yellow Connectors because they are the airbag connectors going to the clock spring.
@basslover201 I would suggest not doing that in any car, You will likely get undisired feed back from your speakers. As mentioned in the video most line level converters have a "amp turn on" wire, which is color coded blue providing a 2.5 Volt Turn on in most cases.
@jmoney201294 Yes that is fine, the converter is getting its source from the speakers. I generally like to put them as far away from the amplifier as possible and closer to the head unit .based on theory the strength of the signal will be stronger at the source.
@TheMrhoneycutt For a lot of people it is the feel of their factory radio and some cars (mostly non-american cars) have factory head units that are non-standard sizes or their head unit is integrated into their aircon. unit (look at a 7th gen accord head unit if you need an example)
@randystarkel2009 it hookes up to your accesory wire on your radio then runs to your amp, that wire is so the amp turns on when u turn the key this wire normally runs to the antenna (if you have a power one of course) i hooked mine up to one of the speaker wires it seemed to work fine (the wire is normally blue if that helps any)
@bsblazzer Actually if you buy a converter that has a remote turn on like the on the video, it gives you all of the connections with the exclusion of the power and ground.
can sumone send me a message or sumthing. if i install the line out converter will the bass controller on the factory stero also controll the subs. you know how you can turn bass up or down on the factory deck will that control your subs? thankx
@Ranalla00rider00fmx Yes if you install it using your factory head unit your bass controll will also affect your subs, if you tune it correctly you can eliminate alot of the bass going through your factory system thus allowing your subs to take over.
yes i have the monsoon system but can you use a line converter for the 2009 g6? i need to know what wires to wire together when you connect them to the factory wire harness.
do you have anymore details on how to do this or can you go into a more detailed tutorial? I have a 2009 pontiac g6 gt and was wondering if i can do this? Please help
@tarhal2005 What are you needing help on? You can get your switched power from the 30AMP Power Window Fuse in the center consel. Do you have the MonSoon system?

IF THERE IS A 5TH WIRE ON UR LOC JUST CONNECT IT TO A BARE GROUND THAT IS YOUR GROUND WIRE .. THUMBS UP IF IT WORKS FOR YOU..

instead of stripping and saudering, i would suggest using clips that you can get from autozone or oreilly... you forgot to mention advising capaciters, you created a corrosion spot on the ground, it would be easier to put an endclip on the end of the groundwire and put it to an existing ground to prevent corrosion, and rather than usinng fuses, heres a little trick i use. autozone sales breakers for cars that go up to to 200 amps if im not mistaken. instead of using five dollar fuses, check it.

What you have done here looks great and well done for sure.

i did this and it worked at first for like not even a day and now it doesn't. the ignition doesn't reed 12 volts. should it?

@warrior2304 shud hav just bought an aftermartket plug from metra specified for ur car, im a professional installer nd have seen ppl try there own installs and seriously fuk up there cars, for changin radios theres no need 2 use the ignition wire in the key harness, everythin u need is rite where the old radio was, if udk wht wire is which look up a diagram or go to ur local stereo shop and c if they hav a plug for ur car in stock

If most amps have an ignition turn on wire, Why would the line out converter need one??? It dosent really take up much power right?
Im looking for a converter for two subs and an amp in my car.
i want to connect them using the line of my rear speaker.
but all the two channel converters i find have 6 wires coming out of them.
Why is this?
torreyd22 1 year ago
hey buddy whats a good line converter? cause i have one but it sounds sort of terrible on my factory radio...someday i would buy a dvd stereo but eventually at sometime not so soon....ohhh & very nice work neatly done A+.

I have a landcruiser and I don't want to take out the head unit but my question is do u really have to go from 4 to 8 gage
lxlc 1 year ago
Ok well I tried hooking it up to my head unit but the amp turn on never worked. Maybe I used the wrong wires? Can you tell me which ones to use with what wire ?
jmoney201294 1 year ago
hey, awesome info man, but in the future i would have to recommend that you dont use yellow wire anywhere near the dash... yellow wire from the factory from any car is universally for air bag systems.
erikman89 1 year ago
@erikman89 Thank You Im glad you got some use from the information posted, As for the Yellow Wire "Under the dash" Its the color code for Switched Ignition source at the KEY. I think you meant Yellow Connectors because they are the airbag connectors going to the clock spring.

hey man is it ok to use ur car ignition as the amp remote wire
basslover201 1 year ago
@basslover201 I would suggest not doing that in any car, You will likely get undisired feed back from your speakers. As mentioned in the video most line level converters have a "amp turn on" wire, which is color coded blue providing a 2.5 Volt Turn on in most cases.
Accordian85 1 year ago
I have the same line converter installed in my 05 tahoe. The person that installed it put it to my back speakers. Is that a good spot for it ?
jmoney201294 1 year ago
@jmoney201294 Yes that is fine, the converter is getting its source from the speakers. I generally like to put them as far away from the amplifier as possible and closer to the head unit .based on theory the strength of the signal will be stronger at the source.
Accordian85 1 year ago
so it just plugs in to ur speaker wires and then plug that into ur amp and all done looks easy . thamxs for video . helped heaps

@CrossRiders5 It looks easy because it is! Your welcome brother!

Why not just get an aftermarket head unit?
TheMrhoneycutt 1 year ago
@TheMrhoneycutt For a lot of people it is the feel of their factory radio and some cars (mostly non-american cars) have factory head units that are non-standard sizes or their head unit is integrated into their aircon. unit (look at a 7th gen accord head unit if you need an example)
nrhegpaintman 1 year ago
@nrhegpaintman Your right! A lot of people like the look and feel of their factory source.

@Accordian85 and i know in my step mom's g6 the stock radio displays oil life and everything so thats pretty vital.

randystarkel2009 1 year ago
@randystarkel2009 To your Amps turn on.
Accordian85 1 year ago
@Accordian85 is that on the line converter
warrior2304 1 year ago
@randystarkel2009 it hookes up to your accesory wire on your radio then runs to your amp, that wire is so the amp turns on when u turn the key this wire normally runs to the antenna (if you have a power one of course) i hooked mine up to one of the speaker wires it seemed to work fine (the wire is normally blue if that helps any)
bsblazzer 1 year ago
@bsblazzer Actually if you buy a converter that has a remote turn on like the on the video, it gives you all of the connections with the exclusion of the power and ground.
Accordian85 1 year ago
What did you do with the remote power to the amp? Did you connect it to the accessory at the ignition?

can sumone send me a message or sumthing. if i install the line out converter will the bass controller on the factory stero also controll the subs. you know how you can turn bass up or down on the factory deck will that control your subs? thankx
Ranalla00rider00fmx 1 year ago
@Ranalla00rider00fmx Yes if you install it using your factory head unit your bass controll will also affect your subs, if you tune it correctly you can eliminate alot of the bass going through your factory system thus allowing your subs to take over.
