this is mostly outer reef drop ins. closed out on the inside. no guts no glory. Wiping out on one is gnarly but nothing compared to the ass kicking your gonna get if you get one and then dont go for it.

Aloha quad, how long does a surfer who wipes out in these kind of waves usually have to hold their breath? When the waves are this big, do you just lose your board? Do you keep your eyes open as your body goes "washing machine"? Do the waves normally come in a certain sequence? Mahalo!

depends on how bad u wipeout -hold breath anywhere from 5-20 seconds usually,ure body is screaming for oxygen though so it can be pretty tough.boards are snaped all the time in these waves u just gotta swim in- wich is punishing! gotta be fit man.

im 13teen and have lived in hawaii all my life but only surfed pipe once on a small day cuz my mom freaks out about it but i surf like the sand bar and the waves are still stomach to chest and there are other beaches than pipe

when u go fast and u fall wrong it hurts(even as a beginer surfing white wash) sometimes it is fun especially if u have a long leashe u just sit on the bottom and search for stingrays lol (well thats what i do when i surf at bolsa)

If you dont plan a fall before you make it, it hurts, its like hitting a wall sometimes, and ofc, youve got your board which could hit you, my sis had a rly vilent fall last year, lucky she only broke her finger.

Ive never broken anything, which im so suprised at, some killer waves can throw you metres, but the biggest ive surfed is 6-7 ft, i live in pembs, so we dont get huge waves
