I have a miniature schnauzer and he really likes to bark when he hears funny noises... he´s like a small watchdog. :D
Look at Innotek, Dynavet or PetSafe barking solutions or there is a great product called the "Husher".. Maltese are smart but they do need firm training then just be consistent. Good luck guys x
when i lived in an apartment, noises and seeing people would get theo to bark when i left hime alone. so i kept him in a crate (nice and roomy) with his toys and then around the outside id put a bedsheet (covering 3 sides) and he felt secure and would never bark. if they mean he barks once in a while they need to GET OVER IT!!
Poor Albi! I would recommend picking up some dog training books if you haven't already. Also, if you call a local animal shelter, you can usually ask them for advice on what to do. Here in the US you can be fined for having your dog bark. Find out what your laws are! Also, do you all crate Albi? That may help him some.
when people tell me to keep my dog quiet (which he is mostly) I usually just say, "Well why don't you keep your kids quiet then." I mean they are very annoying, so it's true.

We got complaints and still do bcause our dogs bark to other dogs when they r out our backyard! Of course we take them in when the barking gets too loud or it's continuous but guess it annoyed our neighbours so bad they once called the police! Police didnt take it too seriously they just came to say that there had been complaints. I was just shocked about the situation, DOG'S BARK, that's how they speak! We still live in the same house and once got in the mail that "collar" never used it lol
OMG Albi bites his bed just like the way Colossus does. Lonny says the heating contraption looks complicated. Wait... WHAT! One of the options is to take the dogs vocals out?!?!? That's ridiculous! I hope you guys find a better place where it's dog friendly. I get that the dark barking can be a nuisance to the neighbors b/c not every one likes dogs. But to suggest those 2 options are absurd! Move to CALIFORNIA! Be my neighbor! HAHA
OK Ory (Maltese) had the same barking problem.....Here was the best solution It is a Citronella Anti bark collar that you put on him when you leave, It squirts Citronella in front of their nose and they don't like it, It stops the bark!!! and gentle on them... I got ours on ebay! I can send you a link

Sucks about Albi :( Somebody once complained about my cocker spaniel barking while in our back garden in the middle of the day and it upset me. I can understand if he barks constantly it would get annoying but im sure youll figure something out.
As for being bi-lingual,when my partner and i met in paris (he's french/tunisian) we had to get by with his lack of english and my high school french. Five years on and we mix english, french and arabic equally and are both fully tri-lingual now!

I love dogs but really it's self-centered of you to think that people are wrong to complain about a dog barking all the time when the owners are not home. In our neighborhood we have this problem of the dogs barking (at one home) until the wee hours of the night and we are not the only one upset about it. We CANNOT sleep! And I use earplugs. And no, I do not want them the grocer/restaurants.
Albi is soooo cute, I could eat him! ;-) He's such a clever boy and I think a dog trainer will be helpful with this "problem". But I know that usually the humans have the harder part to work on, for example to ignore the dog before leaving and when coming home again so that it doesn't go insane that much... :-( Anyway. You'll do the right thing! <3

Some people are really sensitive to barking for some reason. I'm in Canada and my neighbours called animal control because my beagle puppy was making whining noises. For real! They're ridiculous! Last time we bake for them!!!

In Cyprus if your dog pees somewhere people look at you like you committed a crime... there are no parks where you can take your dog to, 3/4 of Cyprus' parks are empty most of the time and you're not allowed to take your dog there.. I hope the doggy therapist goes well so you dont have to move! Dont get another dog to solve the problem as it usually makes the problem worse eg if one is spooked the other reacts too! Try leaving the tv or radio on when you leave the house as the human voices are suppose to keep them calmer plus block outside noise more. x
it would depend if he barked for hours on end like some dogs I've known. we were asked to give up our dog to the SPCA for barking hours on end while we were away and someone wes supposed to be watching him

You can train a dog at any age. I trained my dachshund and I`m sure you can train Albi too. It just takes a lot of patience and hard work.
