  • Seriously wish I could go up on that stage and hug Terry. I wish he was still working with the Association. He still occasionally does, but he hasn't for a while. If he would, I'd be there in a moment! :) They are all so talented, but really for me, Terry one of the most gifted. The other being Brian, who I would have loved to see live.

  • it sounds so much better on vinyl

  • Always will cherish their songs....ahhhh, memories. But what a strange audience

  • Harmonies even tougher than The Beach Boys.A VERY under-rated band right here.

  • saw them in 85...sounding wonderful :o)

  • One of the most beautiful pop ballads ever written and of course - masterfully performed by the one and only Association! You still hear this mega hit and their other huge hits over and over everywhere! That tells you something....Was lucky enough to see them several times at their peak in the late 60's and early seventies and found every performance truely memorable. They are still performing today!

  • I'm one of those guys who likes to sit through a show (old age). We went to Ponca City, Oklahoma to see them in the late 1990's and I was up for most of the show and proudly say I got a bunch of other old poeple off their asses and screaming/yelling and applauding. For an hour and a half it was 1967 again.

  • September, 1985, in Mentor Ohio, this group was playing a 'fall festival'..The weather turned cold and rainy and there were very few people at the gig.. I was there with my four year old daughter and I remember that Terry was dancing on 'stage' with her..Wish I had a video of that!

  • @GBS1043

Do you at least have a photo of it or that show?

    Would love to see it.....

  • I had sync this song to my ipod touch and i never stop playing... I remember my younger days...those days...

  • This song is my favorite song by The Association, and it's always stopped me in my tracks. It's just Beautiful! I saw the Association in concert in 1983. Thank you Association for a lifetime of Beautiful music.

  • The Association is undoubtedly, one of THE BEST bands to come out of the 60's and 70's.My first exposure to them, was in 1970,on their live album, that was recorded at the University of Utah,in 1970.When I heard it,I was hooked.I lost the vinyl long time ago,but bought the CD off of Ebay, and have rekindled my love for this great band.Sadly,I have never seen them in concert, and I would love to see them, but I would prefer the original band as it was on the live album that I have.Maybe one day.

  • i personally thought they did a great job on it, the harmonies were really good, especially on the higher parts towards the end.

  • NICE VERY NICE

  • so brilliant....wow

  • Hated this song when i was a kid, but now I love it! These guys are great and i think they are even better at 83. Thumbs up!

  • They can still call up that same atmosphere as they did when this song came out. And that was what kept me listening to it over again.

  • Makes me young again.

  • Love this song, especially with Terry Kirkman and Jim Yester, I see a note about Jim what is up with him, is he ok?

  • That is really well done.

  • One of the best harmonizing bands of all time in my opinion.

  • I am a young goat on here but I love this song by the Association . I love the nostalgia music 60,70,80s what good memories they bring to us!

  • What a Beautiful song....and what a great group! The Association and their music and mega hits will certainly live on forever.....

  • They sound so good here. This is a most amazing song..The way they sing the words and harmonies.. so excellent..

    Thanks! *)*

  • I remember my High School dance back in the 60's and this was the song that played as I pushed my girlfriend close to me and grabbed onto her fucking tits... Those were the days.

    Great band great song.

  • You're right. This song heralds back to my early daze when I studied hard for college and wore a spiffy dark red blazer (with a little crest emblazened on the pocket! ;-)

  • To the silly, critical people posting here: all this criticism for such a great band! What's it with you people? This is a DIFFICULT song to sing and perform. If you think it's so easy, why don't you try singing it??? lol The Association does a lovely job here. just my humble opinion:)

  • @lancetop This does sound great!

  • that very last mysterious chord is the kind of thing I live for as a musician. chills

  • Que nostalgia, preciosa canción, youtube es lo máximo.

  • I have got to say The Association . Eclipse the BEA Groups , totally beautiful albums .Best Ever . Forever . Thanks for posting . john

  • I don't understand why there are such criticisms. I think it's fine as far as live versions of this tune go--what gives? I consider it good, not just respectable.

  • For those criticizing this clip, keep in mind that, as is mentioned in the intro, this is a difficult song to sing. The vocal harmonies are really hard to reproduce, and if I'm not mistaken, I'm guessing the band members to did quite a few overdubs. It's unlikely that anyone would be able to reproduce what you hear on the record, without a full blown choir (and even, the voices wouldn't sound quite like the ones on the record). I think this is a respectable performance, when you consider that.

  • @Kohntarkosz I heard this song in the '80s. Thought it was easy, but was quickly proven wrong.

There's a reason they had a disclaimer at the beginning. I tried singing along even to this video on key and gave up.

  • Terry you are the man, the guy with the glasses sucks. I am sure that is him in the 2006 posting, he just doesn't have it with out Jim and Terry

  • The "guy with the glasses" is Russ Giguere who sang lead on "Windy". Great and distinctive vocalist!

  • This group together sounds great ! Terry and Jim are certainly my favorite, however Russ sounds good with them but out front by his self he has just to strong of a voice. I saw the most recent performance and it just wasnt the same. I really wish Terry would come out of retirement just one more time

  • Who know what is the translation

    of this song in spanish?

  • I am going to see The Association tonight.

Cherish has always been my favorite all-time song (many a tear shed). But....

This clip is quite lame. Further, if it is from 1983 - less than 15 years or so from the original - I shudder to think what it will sound like tonight ... 25 years after even this lame presentation.

Maybe I should just skip tonight's concert and remember the old days in my mind.

Memories are oft better than reality.

  • well shut the fuck up then CatsJam3.

  • This is one of the few times where I feel the live performance outdoes the master single!

I am glad to read they are in fine health.

  • Good to hear all is well.

I corresponded with with Jim 2 days ago.

    He is fine as well.

  • Thank you, Bobby! FYI, Terry Kirkman was visited in person by a close friend and he is in good health. Ted and Jules are as well.

  • Glad to hear it! :-)

  • So beautiful, thankssssss

  • Great to see more close ups of Terry! I wish he still toured with them. :( I am so thankful for the many wonderful clips of them all together. Thanks for sharing these gems. Love these guys to death. I'm so glad some of them are still singing. They still sound awesome.

  • Each of the guys had such a great and unique voice , but Terry remains my favrite singer. He really soars on some of the later tunes, particularly on the album,Stop Your Motor and especially on his own song. I so agree....wouldn't you love to see one final reunion?

  • That would be most indescribably beautiful...but I don't think it will ever happen again. I suspect Terry may not be in the best health...and I'm not certain about why Ted and Jules gave it up...miss them like crazy. There will never be another group like them. They were distinctly unique. I survived the 60's because of them alone. More than music...much more.

  • I was just curious about Terry, is he sick or does he still sing. Him and Jim Yester were a great combination

  • Thanks for posting! I'm turning up the volume on this fabulous live version of Cherish. Great to see and hear Terry Kirkman interpreting his classic song. Hard to avoid cliches ...where did all the real songwriters go???
