This song (not this version) was the first one I heard from them. And I was blown away. So, I bought the "Flood" CD and I was and am forever hooked. These guys are unique and totally stellar!! They deserve to be more famous than they are. Irreverent, silly, fun, weird, original, brilliant, clever, funny! I LOVE TMBG!!! Was there ever a video for "Spider" from Apolo 19? Thanks for posting!
I remember them from a thousand years ago when I was in college. No one ever gave them more credit than being a flash in the pan. I guarantee these guys are worth as much if not more than most bands of that era. They still work consistently...reference Disney and Warner Brothers cartoons and CBS. Good is as good does...
I've been trying to find this song for the past 17 years. Mission saved. I haven’t heard it since Camp Deerhorn. The lyric “Bird house in your Soul” does stick out a bit.
Maybe I'm a little bias but what a great genre for pop music. I must be getting old or maybe I'm just missing the point, because the dribble we seem to pass of as pop music today just doesn't have the same magic as bands like TMBGs. When did everyone start taking them selves so seriously ?? Is'nt music soposed to make you smile and feel good anymore ??
eh, topic is a night light, but the 'birdhouse in your soul' and the reference to Argonauts, friends (socrates's philosophy is really friendship-centric), etc. really makes me think this is talking about socrates's idea of light
they've also references socrates in other songs, like the allegory of the cave, so it's not too far off
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Truly great songwriting it's a shame most TMBG songs only have a few lines of content. The rhyme and meter here is so great, I love the imagery too the allusion just ties it all together.
