Most quality poetry is not entirely spontaneous. Revision leads to greatness. Ginsberg was a spontaneous poet, and much of work is unfocused and sloppy. It's funny how many people think poetry is "emotional" rather than intellectual (you probably believe this). I think the best poetry is intellectual, but creates an emotional response in the audience. That kind of poetry takes time, some form of logic, and often structure.

Maybe he would agree to interpret the poems of some of his viewers. Of course he would decide which to interpret. He did the like when he made guest appearances on the MacNeil/Lehrer news hour while U.S. poet laureate. Just a thought.
i demand mr pinsky come on here, because i know he frequents youtube and has seen this because he likes his computer and techonology and would be inclined for new things like this, to comment on this video
does anyone know who made this? why it was made? for whatever reason it's badass, the beginning was the best, pinsky walking down an alley way, can only wonder what his poet-mind was thinking
Pinsky is amazing to hear read. I've heard him three times thanks to UCI and the Casa Romantica series, which is no more but he's amazing.

Beautiful poem. This piece speaks powerfully to me, and I admire Pinsky's craftsmanship.

"When I had no roof I made
audacity my roof. When I had
No supper my eyes dined." Great. Shakespeare or robert pinsky? yes, my commander

Pinsky prefers the logic of structure to the expression of sponteneity through structure. In my opinion this kind of poetry is unneccesary.

The performance is perhaps a little too dramatic, but the poem is good. Thanks for posting.
