I also agree Baylor might be the team to beat, but Uconn showed that a great mobile forward, can take advantage of a great but not as mobile swing player as Maya's was. As awesome as Brittney Griner is and I know Geno has coached her and has great respect for her, he gave a blueprint on how to beat Baylor last year. NOt by much, one point win, but. I respect Pat Summitt to no end, but it was Pat that ended the series with Uconn, refusing to sign the contract, not Geno. I don't see Uconn short on talent. Caroline Doty should be back, hopefully healthy. Great recuirting class. They got to the final 4 last year with one senior and two starting freshman, loosing to the eventual Champions. Maya's gone, more time for others to step up. The bench will be deeper, not there last year. This Uconn fan would love to see Tenn and Uconn again!.HUSKIES

I'm really starting to think Tennessee threw that match up they had with Notre Dame so they didn't have to face UConn for a chance at the tittle for Maya Moore's final games. Just how Diana went out with a win over Tenn, I don't think Patt could stand Maya doing the same thing. She knows we've all been dieing for that match up. Happens when you have a frosh PG playing out of position (and having an epically terrible game), your senior leader (Bjorklund) being non-existent, Glory Johnson and Shekina Strickland, who should be killing it, being only sporadically effective against good teams, and no one other than Spani seemingly able to hit from long range. Tenn will be better than UConn next year, but UC is set to own from 2013 on.

@tataJunkie UConn in 2011 will struggle to replace a transcendently great player like Maya. The defection of Delle Donne, in conjunction with only taking Kelly Faris in 2009, equates to too much youth. UConn's 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes are stellar, and when they come of age, UConn will be as dominant in this decade as it's ever been (especially if the 2013 class pans out like I think it will). But Tenn, despite the youth in the backourt, will be deeper and more experienced next year.

Shannon Bobbitt is shit. If you ever watched her in the WNBA you will see what I mean. She's awful. Renee Montgomery is by far a better point guard and player overall. Kalana Greene is better than Auguste. Anosike, Hornbuckle, and Parker are all great players, as are Moore and Charles. Doty was also a good player. Parker's 2008 team was not very good. They barely made it into the Final Four, and it was Alexis Hornbuckle's miracle putback at the buzzer that saved Parker's ass in that game.

All I'm saying are those are the numbers. Pat has done a great job, and especially as a woman I am proud of her success, especially being the first to top 1,000 man or woman. She has done great. But I won't deny the success of Geno. He has done a great job with a program that was basically down the drain and has been a success since he took over. Granted Pat Summitt has won more titles and games, and I won't take anything away from her success. She is an amazing coach. But Pat Summitt has been coaching since 1974. In the previous year, Tennessee was 25-2. Geno Auriemma began coaching in 1985, almost 10 years later. Before he took over, UConn had just ONE winning season in it's history. Finished 12-15 in his first season and has finished above .500 for 22 consecutive seasons. Pat Summitt - 8 NC in 35 years. Geno - 5 NC in 24 years.

Oh I agree. I saw that on ESPN the other day. I am a Pat Summitt fan, but not so much on the basketball team. Now UConn, I've been a fan for a while. Seeing Diana play surely drew me into that... haha

okay... yes... Geno has had the more talented teams by far and still trails Pat by 3 titles (well 2 after tomorrow lol).. and that just speaks volumes to the kind of coaching Pat does at Tennessee... she can and has taken talented down to mediocre teams to title games and have won a few times!

So Geno makes good on the "talent overloaded" teams in championship games by way of Tennessee a few times.. he's supposed to when he gets the top recruiting classes almost every season LOL!! But the fact that he's had to meet TENNESSEE that many times, and that many times having the more talented squad STILL speaks volumes to Pat's coaching ability. But UT has stopped UConn in championship runs, both in '96 Final Four and 97 Elite Eight (UConn's only lost). credit due 2 UConn but no slighting UT

I agree....he cant get to the final four without the best players. But Tennessee is always there which is why i know Patt is the better coach. The series stands at 13-9 in favor of Uconn.

She won three consecutive NCAA titles at UConn and Candace has 2 UConn has won five,about to be six, NCAA titles Tenn may have 8 but everytime they played UConn they always fell short

First off,when Candace,left the rest of her support left as well,so she wouldn't have been so hot this year either.Secondly, Diana has won at every single level she has ever played at. The only reason Candace receives the all hype she gets is because the girl dunked in one little high school all american game.

she WON the dunk competition, and no that is not the reason why she gets all of the hype, nor is it the reason why she's gone on to win 2 nat'l championships, and further, Olympic gold, ESPY awards, WNBA MVP and Rookie of the Year honors LOL... she's a great player because of her desire and work ethic, her family support, and an incredible cast of coaches who have trained her lol. Yeah, and Ole' Pat could finally win a National Championship. I mean, everytime UConn faced Tennessee in the title game, Lady Huskies came out on top. I like Pat Summitt, she's a great coach and has built a great program. But I don't like some of her players. They seem too arrogant for me.

When it comes to them playing each other for a National Title UCONN has there number. 4-0 in the Championship game. Tenn might have 8 titles but none were at the expense of UConn..

This is such a great video, thanks for uploading. UConn will always be the best in my opinion. So many great players: Diana Taurasi, and now Maya Moore. As much as I like to dislike Tennessee, I do respect Summitt and their program. And I have a feeling that this year UConn may just add one more title to the five.
