The only argument soccer players have is that its played everywhere. Only because all you need is a ball. Its the cheapest sport around and most of the world is poor. Plus, hockey is played on ice. And its expensive for equipment. And most people cant play at high levels because you actually need skill and toughness. Like letsgocaps8 said, popularity doesnt mean its good. Soccer is for diving assclowns. Hockey is for men. Even hockey girls would kick the shit out of soccer players.

Hockey rules, obviously. You have to be very skilled to play, no matter what level. Its the only sport you use every muscle in your body when you do it. Can any of you hoodlums skate, stick handle, and shoot while you have people trying to send you flying? Doubt it. Soccer you run around and kick a ball. Some of the foot work is impressive but please, hockey requires much more skill. And even without fights, you still have to have a set of balls on you, not in your "fashionable" man purse...
