This match is easily in gief's favor, rufus has to get close to him to do damage and zangief has a better close game. This gief chooses to stay outside where rufus is at an advantage.

dive kick = spd, jesus kick = spd. tornado = spd. rufus has to guess on every block if he is going to get spd'd or lariated.

50/50 mind game and the damage and hp difference is in gief's favor.

Rufus never had, and never will have a problem with Zangief.

If you're having trouble beating a Zangief, then play as Zangief, and lose a ton to Rufus players to see what they do to own Zangief.

@daddyshere1 Current tier list shows Rufus way above Zangief. The popular opinion on the Zangief boards vSF4 "match list" was 6-4, but that wasn't made by the same GOOD players who made the tier list.

Rufus main's don't complain about Zangief.

Justin Wong owns my Zangief, and I just won a tournament with my SSF4 sucky 'gief. Easy $100 (obviously a small tourney)

Rufus has the tools to keep away from Zangief, and keep Zangief away.

If you can't figure out how to do that, then to bed with you.

@PimpUigi Not really. Cr. HP = FADC. Only thing Rufus rapes in Giefs jump in. And I've yet to see an accepted tier list that doesnt have the matchup at least 5.5/4.5 Gief

That Gief player was drunk, that's the only reasonable explanation for his performance; Rufus' cr. fierce is easily punished with Focus Attacks. I know it's easy for me to say that "Zangief should have done X and Y," but come on...

This match is from back in august 08, where the game was barely a month old. It's easy to say in hindsight how to beat what when people have already dissected the game for 6-7 months on both console and arcade, but when your only a month into a fighting game's release, knowledge on matchups and how to beat stuff is often still very new.
