I think Odin realizes how bad ass this Almighty Father (God of Fear?) really is, so he's rounding up the family and taking Asgard back into space to escape his wrath before the shit hits the fan. That's my take on it at least. At the same time, there's a subplot (or political commentary) about fear and uncertainty being pervasive in today's society and being incited by yahoos every which way we turn.
