flawless2c, Ya Hossein? Aside from what you are being brainwashed with daily, how much do you really know about this bastard or Islam in general? In addition to 5 other wives, Hussain married Um Ishaq Bint Talha, the widow of his own brother, Hasan, after he was caught sleeping with her. This holy man was known to have slept with over 300 women. Islam was nothing more than a cult pretending to be holy. Also, your assumption of where I live is incorrect. Ya Hossein, Ya intelligent thinking.
I agree with some of the comments calling for arm struggle. we have to face the reality and understand that we need to fight street by street to be able to get ride of this regime, there is no other way as its evident in the crackdown not just in the last few months but the last 31 years. The regime will kill, and torture us with no mercy because their own very survival depends on it. we have to take our land back and we need to do it with guns if we dont the regime will kill us all.
While I agree with the sentiment, how do the people accomplish this in reality? How do the people get weapons and ammunition? How can they meet together in large enough numbers to plan anything without getting discovered and murdered by the government? The only way I can see is to meet in some other country in order to make plans but that still leaves the problem of acquiring weapons and ammunition. There's always the Ghandi method, a general strike but then most people must participate.
@1140Cecile good questions. my ideas are purely observational rather than academic but in its simplicity is not experiential nor unrealistic. We are witnessing the unconventional ways that insurgencies (short of targeting innocent people) around the world have been effective in fighting well equipped military and security forces. We can learn a lot from Lebanon, Palestine Afghanistan Iraq Ireland Bask region in Spain, our own rebellious history in Azarbaijan, Gillan, Kordestan, Mazandaran etc.
@1140Cecile Iran is very vast with lots of mountainous regions forestry deserts densely populated urban areas in many cities where you can easily loose your tracks and not to mention tribal areas such as Baluchistan and lots of areas with different ethnicity and religious backgrounds suppressed by the regime or in religious and philosophical differences with them that would be very hospitable to any anti regime militia activities and already have the historical foot prints of such activities.
@1140Cecile In Iran there are also lots of no mans land with routes that are being used for drug trafficking smuggling goods across the boarders and if you may not know also arms. arms are the biggest trade and money making business around the world especially in middle-east. so there are a lot of organizations, groups with decades of experiences in smuggling arms for anyone who is willing to pay for them. arms are the easiest things to obtain by anyone who want them these days.
@1140Cecile did you ever see the movie that was based on the insurgency in Algeria against the French occupations which during the 79 revolution in Iran was played in many movie theaters? i have seen it, its truly remarkable in the ways and strategies that they planned and deployed to fight the french forces on the streets that demoralized and confused the security forces present every day on every corner of the cities in Algeria. There is a lot that can be learned there to use for our fight.
@1140Cecile Without going into too many details i think there is a lot that can be explored, places to consider, alliances to be made and strategies to deploy for our cause. Lets not forget siyahkal during the shah's regime which i am sure you would remember. Anyways the idea is that there is hope that is not too far fetched and if there is a will there is a way! and i am not saying this is easy and i also know talk is cheap. But we have to start from somewhere our very survival depends on it.
@ArasheKamanGeer - Sorry, I thumbed down your last comment when I meant to press the Reply botton.
Yes, I hear what you're saying, that armed revolution is a distinct possibility. I guess that I abhor the image of any one freedom fighter being maimed or killed during such a struggle for freedom. And, I know it's already happened. I know that many have already died in the struggle for freedom in Iran...and I am saddened by this.
I live in Canada, and I feel mostly helpless in (cont.)
(cont.) my personal ability to help the Iranians who seek freedom. My government generally takes the same political stance as the U.S., which is a stance dealing with the "official" Iranian position, rather than the position of Iranians. I'm really concerned about the possibility of an Israeli attack on Iran which would then probably bring in the whole NATO organization, including Canada, based on the principle of "all for one and one for all". My experience has been that Iranians (cont.)
(cont.) are virtually indistinguishable from my Canadian neighbours and it is almost impossible for me to imagine considering the Iranian people as an enemy. What we have is a government versus government clash, from our perspective. If Iran was a secular state, much would be different in relations between Iran and the West. To many of us, theocracies are very dangerous, for they wish to demand conversion to whatever their faith may be. We already went through that with Christianity (cont.)
and we don't want to go through another similar scenario with Islam. Even I, a peaceful person, would take up arms against any theocratic invasion against my ability to continue thinking as I will. Although I think that the Iranian freedom fighters are probably also staunch Muslims it is my belief that freedom supercedes theocratic belief, that freedom of thought is necessary for the advancement of humanity and that a revolution against Khamenei is the first step towards an eventual (cont.)
enlightenment of the entire Iranian community. While our individual goverments can "declare" that we are enemies, are we really enemies? Are the people really enemies? I think not.
So, it's up to us, the people, to rein in the powers on our "side" and the people of each country to rein in the powers on their "side" in the realization that we are not innately enemies but rather fellow travellers on this planet Earth.
Sorry, a bit off the track on revolution. You will have to do (cont.)
whatever you have to do to rid yourselves of theocratic domination, peaceful or otherwise. We have a similar battle to wage against capitalist domination which is just as incidious as theocracy. They are both constructed by people who wish to have "ultimate" authority over the people using belief systems that result in themselves being at the top.
Theocracies are blatantly dictatorial but democracies can also become indistinguishable from a dictatorship. We, the people, must always (cont.)
(cont.) remain vigilant as to what our form of government has become. Whenever any form of government fails to value individual liberties as paramount then that government must be overthrown.
We, the people of democracies, are with you, those under theocracies, in spirit. But, as much as we'd like to help, there is little we can do, unless you ask for help. It is YOU who have to have your own revolution. But, we are all together in this and we will help any freedom seeking people anywhere.

Religion is at the bottom of this conflict. And power and greed are fuelling it out of control now.
Time to shuck it off and face reality. There is no god, you don't need to fight in his name.
Come into the 21st century now.

The problem with Iran is that it is an ISLAMIC republic, all they are good at is excercising the use of violence and supression to it's people.
