How much memory does it take to record an hour in 1080P? What's the battery life like?

I got the 8GB SDHC card and the manual says it can record 30min of HD video, or 90min of regular VGA. I should have gone up to the 32GB SDHC card which can do 2hours of HD video. As far as the battery, I've never run out of juice. I only wish it could be used to record audio-only files.
