Anyone else notice that the Baron does cross over the river to get Katy. She must go over the river herself. If I remember correctly, evil cannot cross over water. This is old myth/folklore stuff. However, its interesting to see it applied subtly in an old Japanese cartoon.

Yeah, bells and running water disable the evil fairy-folk in European folklore, and a lot of religions say that running water wards off evil spirits as well. I'm willing to bet that, even though this is Japanese, it was done purposely here too...makes you think about how true that old myth really might be!
