The problem isn't that she sucks at singing live, it's a combination of how awful this crowd is, and how the song was produced to be a radio hit. Artists like Katy Perry are meant for the charts, nothing else, leave them for those that think music is dead. I'll be listening to bands that can deliver great cd's and chilling live performances instead.

if you've ever had to sing live into a microphone you'll know how terrible it can sound. microphones pick up any tiny mistake you make so obviously it's not going to sound like the recorded version. and anyway when you record a song you can tweak it. katy is very talented, as are most other muscians.. she just happens to sound slightly different when she sings live. :) just enjoy the music people..

Uh how bout no. Let's not throw excuses here. Why is it that good artists sound perfectly fine live albeit different from the studio version? She doesn't just sound different here, she sounds sub-par. You can obviously tell that she doesn't breathe right and is huffing and puffing into the mic. Even a 9 year old choir singer knows how to control their breathing. I personally think the song is "cute" however her live performances are disappointing. Don't criticize people for speaking the truth.

I've been a musician for 30+ years and while this is not my style of music i think she sings fine. Performing live is extremely hard people hear all these heavily processed sounds these days and think you should sound the same live but that is just so rarely the case.

That’s what makes him great. And if you were a musician for so long, you would notice that her body language, the way she handles the mic and her breathing is TERRIBLE(not to mention the out of tune part) I don’t even know why I’m writing this long I think your comment just got me mad.
