I've read on google that when Tom splits in 7 or 8 pieces in the intro we see blood. Not necessarily. In the cartoon Touche, Pussy Cat Tom gets split in 2 & the inside of him is blue. There's no particular reason it's blue. They just had to make the inside of him some color & picked blue. In this they may have just decided to have his inside be red.
